I'm surprised!!:wigout: Not a SINGLE thread about VHD!!! Oh well... I just started one.. Post what you like/dislike about the Anime. ( And tell me where I might be able to purchase a TRANSLATED set of the Manga or regular books that the movies was based on ;).) Enjoy!

I liked Vampire Hunter D, but Bloodlust was simply amazing. Everything about it was excellently executed. I think I've seen the movie about 20 times over the course of a month. I like it that much.

As for your request, I'm pretty sure that the novels nor the manga have been translated, yet.

I love both movies.I was going to make a topic about this but I noticed I sucked at those.Anyway.

I remeber first watching VHD.I was just amazed with character designs and battles. Then I saw Bloodlust and my jaw dropped to the floor. Not ever have I seen a greater anime movie.

Actually, I did start a thread a few months ago, when I picked up "Bloodlust". The thread died though...

Anyhoo, I love VHD, though I don't own it yet. I saw it on CN when it aired in 1993, and it was the first anime I ever saw. (Come to think of it, I need to remember to look for that one tomorrow when I'm in town).

And I picked up Bloodlust a few months ago, remembering how good VHD was, and all the good things I'd heard about it. And they were all true. God, what an awesome movie that is.

There have been like three threads on it, they're all pretty old now though.

I don't feel like typing all I think about it right now, but it's definately one of my favorite anime films (probably my second favorite actually). My favorite scene is still the opening, where the flowers decay and the fountains freeze at the presence of Meier.

The ending was definately good as well, fulfilled my need to have a good closing.

I just rented Bloodlust, and I watched it at least 12 times. I own the original VHD ( there's a guy who works here who loaned me the tape
that he recorded off of TBS, he is SSOOOO cool!) I can watch it whenever I want ( too bad it's the edited version :grumble: Dad says I can't watch the unedited until I'm 16 :grumble: :grumble: ) Anyway, I agree with Semjaza Angel, about my favorite scenes and whatnot. And I think, that the best part of Bloodlust, is that it isn't just 'chop chop slice slice kill kill.' There's an actual story behind it.

hey there forum members! I own both films. I liked the first one, and the second one is my favorite movie. I was surprised to find out that the character designer for VHD is also the character designer for my favorite video game, "Final Fantasy VII", and that VHD Bloodlust's character design is based on FFVII character designs

I love VHD. It's one of my favorite anime movies of all time. I havn't seen Bloodlust yet, though. I hear it was really good.

I watched VHD when it was on the sci-fi channel at around 12:00 at night. That really wasn't a good idea. Has anyone here done something like that? It's pretty scary.

No, but playing Silent Hill at midnight, when you live alone, IS pretty scary.

I don't know that anything in Bloodlust is based on FF7 character designs... But Amano, I believe, first became famous for his illustrations in the Vampire Hunter D novels in Japan. He also did the designs for most of the FF games, among others. I'd say they are just related in his style, not that they are directly based of one another. He's possibly my favorite artist though.

I saw the second VHD movie, and I have to say that I was very impressed. It was a good story, while keeping good animation, and the characters were pretty cool as well. I actually havn't seen it in a while, but I remember that I liked it.

As for the first one, I have yet to see it, but from what I hear, it's a classic but isn't quite as good as the sequal was.

Awww!!:bawl: And this was just going on 2 pages too!!!:bawl: But hey! Isn't favorite quotes still staying on the same topic? * VHD and Bloodlust.*:therock:

Perhaps, but believe it or not, talking about goats isn't. I don't see how talking about your 13 goats has ANYTHING to do with the topic at hand. Pull something like this again and you may not get off so easy. -Syk3

what's yur problem with newbies? yur a member too, so what do u mean "I don't see how talking about your 13 goats has ANYTHING to do with the topic at hand. Pull something like this again and you may not get off so easy."? That isn't nice to say and you shouldn't have editted her post to say that. I'm sure shy guy has his own reasons to edit, but that don't mean you have to butt in just cuz he started doing it before you. Sarasan is new at posting, incase you havn't noticed. I don't think yur a good moderator, and if I knew how to report this to the admin, I would, but o well, he isn't very nice either.

The administrator is James. He should be easy enough to find if you feel you actually have a legitimate enough complaint... although Meier apparently feels that James is also incredibly mean, I think you'll find that's not the case.

Without getting into all of this, people here are trying to do their jobs... jobs that are basically thankless. We do something right and no one cares, we mess up and it's the end of the world. Just as you members mess up, perhaps mods do as well... It's not beyond anyone to do that. Don't post weird stuff that's offtopic or basically useless and you won't have any problems.

Quit your whining and get back to topic.

Wait, I'm not a mod.

Quit your whining and get back to topic.

Amano made the artwork for the novels, and I think he was very involved in the Vampire Hunter D movie. I don't think he was in Bloodlust at all, but of course, since he made the artwork for the novels, it is normal that he gets a mention. From what I understand, Bloodlust is based on the third D novel.

I don't have a problem with newbies; I have a problem with spammers. :) As a moderator, I have a job to do, and that is to prevent spamming and try to prevent it from happening again.

I'm sorry I had to edit her post, but it is my understanding that she has gotten a ban warning in the past, and we were hesitant to do more than just delete the posts this time. Meier, really you don't have to do this for me. Really, I can cuss out this bankrupt moderating system myself. But I agree, if there was a way that I could report this to the Administrator, I would.:flaming:
And what, may I ask, would you argue? You would tell him that he should fire me because you were not staying on topic? Yeah, good luck with that.

Hey, y'know what? I'm sorry, I was in a bad mood for a little while. I'll get back on topic.

Anyway, how many VHD novels were there!? Were they Mangas, or just regular books?
I think 3 novels were made. I don't know if there's a manga too, or if the novels are actually manga. The bottom line is that they haven't been translated.

The VHD books are novels, in the sense that they are actually written. As far as I know, Amano just did various illustrations for the books, they are not manga. There is a manga version though, but it's rather old and out of print. I've never personally seen it.

The author of the books is Hideyuki Kikuchi. Apparently, the first novel is actually translated into English. The translator is still negotiating with Kikiuchi's publishers, but Kikuchi himself wants the books to be released here very much. Amano is also working with DC Comics to produce a manga adaptation of the novels.
