Hey everybody. One of my hobbies is weather. I don't have very many exciting stories to share though. I don't live anywhere where stuff like that happens often. So....I'll post this picture I took the other day of a near-white out!

Please share some of your weather related stories and pictures here.:)

PS: the photo has one of my other favorite hobbies: Trains! ^_^

Well, we've had a dust storm the was 20km in diametre (I think.) That was pretty fun. You could see the sun, only it looked like the moon - but red. I didn't get any pictures though.

There was a time when there were bushfires in New South Wales, Snow in Victoria, A Cyclone somewhere else, and rain here. If I remember correctly.

I agree. If you ever visit any of the flat Midwestern states then perhaps you'll start to appreciate the beauty of your state ;)

Michigan doesn't really get any weird weather other than lots of precipitation. If it's not snowing then it's probably raining ^_^;

I haven't lived in California long enough to know much about their weather patters. However, I've noticed that the coast gets lots and lots of fog and it's usually colder and foggier down by the beach.

I remember visiting Santa Barbara in April to find cold, cloudy weather. It wasn't until my dad and I drove up into the mountains that we discovered the "cloudiness" was really coastal fog cover blocking out the sun, and the cool temperature was a direct result of that.

Yeah, I remember that. Darn Victorians, with their snow and all.
eep...*hides from James*

Anywho, in Perth it's basically warm all year round. You get some rain in winter, not a chance of snow. Summer can be really hot, 38 or 39 degrees (celsius) some days. One year you could have a dry summer, then the next year it's really humid. It's very strange...

Well in Phoenix where I was born we would get sandstorms once in awhile. Once we had a really bad one, that I can remember. I was about 5 or 6 and and my brother and I were looking outside through our back door and saw the picnic table fly across the patio. That same day my dad had to get something(who knows what..)and he went outside. You could barely see him. We also had alot of monsoons during the summer. Very heavy rain and dangerous lightning. Flooded our backyard was. We were litrally swimming in our backyard.

Here in Ohio we don't really get but 'strange' weather. Humid/mucky summers with cold/snowy winters(sometimes). Our weather was a bit..off balance last year. It was around 70 degress(F) on Christmas eve I belive(at least sometime in December). It snowed few times last year, this year it has snowed quite a bit.

There was once a tornado here, before I moved to this part of Ohio. It ripped the roof off one of the Middle schools near me.

I have no pictures though. ¬.¬

I don't really care to what the weather is. I don't go out very often. But if I would actually like a weather, than it would have to be Summer.

Last year was alot better than this. This year where I live, it snowed alot. I hate snow. The reason is, when you go outside, you have to put on so many clothes. I don't care much, I just don't like putting on so many clothes.

Anyway, I guess I really don't pay attention to the weather anymore. I don't care. All I do care about, which I shouldn't, is when it rains, it messes up the T.V, and sometimes that makes me mad. Then, I just draw or read a book. So either way I don't care.

Well, the current problem we have where I live is the winds. If you have been watching the new lately in Cali you know that the "Santa Ana" winds (Why they call them "Santa Ana" winds, I have no idea) have been destroying everything in sight. Our power went out on Sunday night because a line was knocked over, a few people I know did not get their electricity back until today!

Oh! What part of Ohio do you live in? I'm in the southeastern part. Vinton County. Maybe you've heard of it? It's always in the news because it's like the 2nd or 3rd poorest county in Ohio. Heh.

Here's what's wacked. I took the photo of that snowstorm on Monday, right? Well today, it was 56 degrees! Go figure. That's what they say about Southern Ohio. If you don't like the weather, just wait a couple of days and you'll get something different.:)

Well, last eastercamp, we had the most beautifull weather imaginable. Until the last day.

I remember it quite well, I was being prayed for, and when the prayer ended, the rain came down. It blew all our tents over, and most of us stayed in the main Marquee all night. The grounds were pretty flooded after that, It was an experience I will never forget Eventually, the flodd did come into the main amrquee, but we were outta there by then. Here are some piccies Note: click on them for larger image, links and images will probably not work after easter 2003

We get rain. That's about it. Back in 1987, there was a massive hurricane, and we've had quite a few floods recently. Um... we get tornadoes around the South from time to time. Not huge ones, but enough to do some considerable damage. I've always wanted to see one, but they scare me so much. So somewhere a long way from anything I want damaged/killed would be nice ^_^;;

Hey now watch out! Just because I live in kansas doesn't mean I'm a hick.

Actually its true. The midwest (KANSAS IS NO EXCEPTION) is very boring. There arn't any mountains, deserts, oceans, or anything to that affect that would spark a sense of awe inspiring beauty. Well unless you are like me, and think thunder storms and tornados are the best things created (Aside from baseball, girls, guys, and otakuboards)

Although I would never move from here. I love it here. The weather is so freaky. Ok get this...

Yesterday: 43 degrees...
Today: 77 degrees
Tommorrow: 25 degrees

Thats what its like here. The weather is insane I love it! Lets see a couple years ago I was sitting on my roof watching storms and to my left I could see a tornado and to my right I could see a tornado. Multipy tornados in one storm arn't that all uncommon here, but its just freaky. I mean I felt like we were surrounded. Unfortunatly I never thought to take pictures sorry....

HA!

WEATHER!

I laugh in the face of your weird weather.

You see, Toowoomba is the king of weird weather.

eg:

Its meant to be winter, and it's like 27-30 degrees celcius outside and not a cloud in the sky. Not to mention it hasn't rained in weeks and the grass is as dry as dry can be.

eg2:

Its raining so hard that the bullet like rain is thicker than fog, its racing along so fast thanks to the wind that everywhere outside looks underwater. Not to mention if you do go outside you come back in looking like a drowned rat.

Hello Summer

o.o

Well, Wisconsin is in the Midwest, but I have to say, it's interesting enough. :toothy: I grew up three blocks away from Lake Michigan, yea! I've spent so many summer hours there, it isn't even funny. I truly love that place. [Zoo Beach, it's next door to..the Racine Zoo! Also within walking distance, go figure.]

Now I live next to this big fun woodsy county park out in the country. I miss living by my lake [yes, it is my lake], but, you know.

We were driving jhome from Eau Claire last Sunday [E.C. is upper-ish Wisconsin] and I was just struck by how beautiful the state was. ^_^ Wished a million times I had the photography equipment to capture it. It was sunny, and in a very hilly area, so you could see layer after layer of fields, all overflowing with different shades of brown and tan and straw--and the sky was this awesome blue color that I simply refer to as 'sky.' heh. Postively beautiful.

Hey, if that camera wasn't covered in specks and that was in black and white, and you moved the angle either higher or lower, it could pass as great photography!!

That's almost a WHITE OUT to you? That's like, 2 inches...
That photo was taken with a digital camera, and those specks are HUGE snowflakes, and the wind was gusting at about 40 mph. I had no intentions of that pic comming out perfect. My definition of a white out is when it's snowing so hard you can barly see 50 feet in front of you. The train in the photo was about 40 feet away, and the one where you can only see the lights is about 30 yards away.
I didn't say there was a lot of snow on the ground. It was only about 1-2 inches. Nothing like 5 years ago. We got 2 feet! Snow isn't uncommon around here, but a lot of snow is. And when it does snow, it is hardly ever as hard as in the photo.

Now for the wierdness of weather we have. I took this photo in the same spot this afternoon. No snow...no clouds...no cold...It was still very windy though.
It's a wonder I don't have pneumonia.

I've never really considered Kansas a Midwestern state to begin with ^_^; Being from the Midwest myself, these are the states that I DO consider to be a part of it: Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio, Illinois, and the northern parts of Indiana. Anything beyond that I wouldn't call "Midwest" :p

However, I've become good friends with a guy from Oklahoma who considers himself to be from the Midwest, but I think that's stretching the title a bit too far :toothy:
