BigCajones
Hey I'm not fussy, I mean a games console is a games console right? I'm not bothered how it looks I'm more interested in how it plays to be honest. I quite like purple anyway it's a cool colour *points at purple gamecube*. Anyway I don't want the X-Box 2 to come out for a while, which it won't but I like the sound of microsoft doing a hand-held console. The technology would be amazing!!! You could probably download games on to it and so on. Think of the possibillities ... :demon:
Bing
Ah, this is Xbox we are on about, not the Girlcube (j/k). If you think about visuals of the actual consoles itself, why the hell did anyone ever buy a PS2. That's pretty damn ugly if you ask me, looks like a cereal box. Cajones, it's O.K, you are safe for a while, the Xbox 2 isn't going to be ready for a long while yet, so just enjoy your 'box while it's still alive and kicking!
Tommy Vercetti
Im not that bothered about the ps2 as i kinda like the shape it is and i found more people were concered about the size of the xbox and how big it was and how fat the controllers were but to me i think the xbox isn't as big as everyone thinks it is and the normal controllers are big but i suppose if you didnt like those controllers you could get the compact `s` one. The xbox 2 should be smaller though and maybe have slightly smaller controllers.
Bing
I find that the controllers are built to fit my hands more than any others. But, we can discuss that here. As I said in threads before, it won't be released for a long while yet, so I think you should all be enjoying your console for what it is now, instead of waiting for the next one!
BigCajones
What else can we do though? This is the idea of this thread to wait and anticipate the release of the new X-Box console. Discuss what we think it should be like or what should be changed. I know it won't be out till 2005, so designs will vary along the lines, but still when it comes closer to the time I will extremely excited (also because of other consoles being released :)! You can bet I will be still here posting in all the information I recieve or hear on this. Updates could be rumours, but it's better than nothing. Lets hope Bill does a good job :excited: Oh and when I have the time I enjoy my X-Box console of course.
Blade
Whe i hear "XBOX reloaded" the Matrix comes to mind....they should call it XBOX: Double X or something. I dont think that it will do well if it does come out...the XBOX's reputation is in a spiralling downfall!!!!! Regards Blade:naughty:
Bing
the XBOX's reputation is in a spiralling downfall!!!!!
I have to disagree. When it was released, Cajones, Vercetti or I would have never though of getting one, but as it's game library grew, and price dropped, it became more appecaling. I would say it's popularity is on the increase. XBox : X_X That kinda reminds of someone who has been playing to long. Heh, I had another idea...XBox : Power Edition.
Tommy Vercetti
Well i did sort of want to get it when it was released but i thought i would get it at Christmas not really because of the Price drop but mainly because around that time of year i think companies would want to release some of their best games as people usually tend to have a bit more money than normal. At Christmas my mag said that 203,218 xbox's were sold while the gamecube sold just 80,410 which does show that the popularity of the xbox has increased. They say there was a deal with Halo, Splinter Cell, JSRF and Sega GT 2002 for only £200! and that is a very good deal although i didn't actually see that deal but if the xbox is capable of managing that then maybe the xbox 2 will do just as good or even better when it is released. Bing
Yeh, I feel though, that like the X Box, X Box 2 will be overpriced. The deals we got in the UK were very good, 2 games and a consoles for £159:99. That makes it the cheapest console really available over here, except for the PSOne...enough said.

BigCajones
Well as for Microsoft doing a handheld system, they may just be doing so, but don't get too excited it won't be out for around three years or maybe released around the same time of the X-Box 2 in 2005. Gates made an announcement on a new product called Media2go: a handheld media player with a four-inch screen and the ability to play music, movies and pictures. The player has storage for 40 gigabytes of content in the form of digital pictures, music and videos. This handheld system sounds like it's going to be called 'Xboy' and it would be foolish is Microsoft retracted on this project as they need to compete with Nintendo and Sony who are making a handheld system too. By the time 'Xboy' will be out you won't even need to buy a cart or disc anymore, you can just download games directly to your console. All games will be 3D most likely. 'Xboy' will be fully backlit, but will have to compete with the likes of Pokemon. ARGH! Could be very interesting! :demon:
Bing
Well, handheld media players do exist, and I have seen them. Although they pricey, they have a pretty big memory, and can play audio, video and show images. X Boy, very clever name for what sounds like a very clever console! It does look like a spelling mistake though! I don't like the idea of downloading games though, because I can't imagine how they would price the games, and if you would have to use a credit card etc. Sounds a bit dodgy, and it could mean that the system itself is expensive.
BigCajones
Yeah I understand your logic, but all this is far too advanced for me right now I'm sure it will get explained it years to come. Credit card would be very annoying for underage people, and hackers could easily destroy this system of downloading and make it a utter mockery! I'm pretty sure you still could buy the discs/cartridges (whatever it would be), but downloading is just going to be that extra show-off feature. I'm sure there will be illegal downloading sites and everythink I think the security will have to be on a mighty high! Sounds pretty cool though, I have a design stuck in my head of what it will look like, lets just hope Microsoft make several colours of this 'X boy' from the beginning. :smirk:
Bing
Can you possibly show me where, or tell me how you got this information about the 'X Boy' you are speaking about. I searched X Boy in Yahoo, and I managed to find a website, but it contained boys, and not alot of clothes and...you can figure the rest out. So anyway, send me a link, so myself and tohers can see this information!
BigCajones
This is a magasine information I'm afraid and Gates later said that he was just showing this as an example of what he can do. So he said Microsoft are not involved in handheld development. I'm not sure why he said this if he can and has the money it would be a great idea. As other companies are creating handheld consoles I don't think he will scrap this idea, but you will hear more about it probably later on as this is going to take 3 years said my Gates himself. He said all this at the Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas and definetely has something up his sleeve or he wouldn't of mentioned creating it in the first place. I know he has allowed GBA have mini X-Box games until 2004 sometime. Maybe what he ment is that he hasn't started developing it as yet, but you will find more information later on this year I presume and then I will post it when I hear. :)
Bing
Bill Gates, like many peoplein the gaming buisness, like to say stupid little teasers like that, because it keeps people interested, hanging of his every words. Hideo Kojima does this a lot too! As Vegeta, for some strang reason, said, It's not going to be out for ages, so we should just leave this thread now. All has been said really, and anything else is just going to spam! Only post if it's real, true information!
Guest Scootah Rock
Maybe they'll put out new systems about as often at they put out new verions of windows. That's like every 4-5 years or so... except in the case of the Windows Millenium edition and XP... but other than that, it's on a 4-5 year rotation. Who knows. I've had my XBOX since they came out... so I could care less. lol
BigCajones
Hmmm I doubt that would happen, well I hope not. Xbox 2 should be the last console... well last console for a long period of time. I doubt Microsoft will ever gain money out of any of its' consoles they release (not that Bill Gate$ will care). I'm not really bothered if they do release more as long as its not for a long time, because well I don't have the money and really it's jsut stabbing there console in the foot. Also what improvements could be done? The future of gaming ... I can't say I know about it.
Tommy Vercetti
Yeah i agree with Cajones not much could be done to improve consoles if they are released in such short time periods. I think they should release an Xbox 2 only if the Xbox does really well in selling games and becoming more popular. I think that with the xbox not many things could be improved in such a short time apart from tweaking the graphics and maybe slighlty increasing the speed as it is already fast enough. They have just brought out Live which i don't know what they could improve with that as i haven't tried it yet. Overall i think perhaps they should wait at least 4 or 5 years then consider what to do by looking at all the statistics and seeing whether the xbox is doing well and decide to improve it. Bing
You don't even really need to think about it...it's factual. The X Box 2 won't be released for at least another 3 years, so stop worrying about it! In a few years, when technology has evolved a bit more, they will probably start discussing the ideas for a new, more powerful console, but until then, this conversation is a bit pointless, and it's turning into rambling. Who knows, with all this war business, we could all be dead within a few years O_O
