GotenksSSJ343
Well unless you've heard (I always hear stuff last) the parents of a young daughter are sueing the people who created spongbob. One day the family was in there boat and the little girl a spongebob fan jumped out of the boat and drowned trying to find "sponegbob". i really thought it was sort of the parents at fault because they never told her that sponges don't talk or live in pineapples with snails. (aka: cartoons arn't real.) Explain your thoughts.
Schrat
lmao, thats the funniest thing, besides the girl dieing... It is definaitly the parents fault
DeathKnight
HAHA! That's hailirous. Man. Some parents really need to remember that kids are kids and some things really need to be explained before someone else teaches them the hardway- Or something worse happens, like this.
Shinobi
*Holds in laughter* ..... *bites lip* .... *Creates image in head* ..... :rotflmao: Sorry i couldn't resist. But i remember this happened before. A small boy jumped out a window because he thaught he could call on "Charizard" the pokémon to comeand wisk him away, obviously he died. Shoudn't the kid have had a life jacket on?
BigCajones
Oh God that is crazy lol. If I was that dumb I would want to get shot myself. Can I ask how do the parents know that she was searching for Spungebob if she just jumped in a drowned. Did she like shout out that she is searching for him or what? Soooooooo funny ... :naughty:
Manic Webb
If anyone, it's the parents' fault. The girl should've been wearing a life jacket. They should've explained to her that she can't breathe underwater. Heck! The show states several times that Spongebob can't breathe air and Sandy (the squirrel) can't breathe water! It's not the show's creators' fault for making a cartoon that takes place underwater. This is a classic case, really; kid sees something on TV and imitates it with negative results. It may not be anyone's fault. Just a case of a little girl who couldn't swim.
Domon
I fully agree. Its the parents fault for not telling the girl that the cartoon is not real, but the question is what was she doing without a life jacket? That's a little questionable, because its required by the coast guard that everyone have a life jacket on or some kind of flotation device. I don't understand why she didn't. Its just a little odd. DarkSage
Yeah I agree with everyone I would think it's the parents fault I mean if they knew she was jumping in trying to find Spongebob wouldn't they try to stop her and what happened when she got into the water didn't anybody jump in to try and save her? I know I would if it was my kid.
kizu
This would have to be one of the worst lawsuits ever. It is just like that woman who sued Mcdonalds for making her son fat. Or a better example, a women in a department store sued because she tripped and hurt herself. The women tripped on her own child though. I think that it time that parents like that stop blaming other people for their mistakes.
Domon
Really. I agree with you Kizu. I mean why blame Spongebob? Because its a cartoon that deals with the way the daughter died. If you want my opinion, then i think the parents should be held at fault for neglegence on their part on watching their daughter and for not even putting a life jacket on her. (stated earlier that the Coast Guard requires everyone to have a life jacket or flotation device attached to them.) Personally i think the parents need to pull their heads out of their butts and smell the coffee. You can't blame everything on tv. Some things happen because a parent was careless, etc. Okay, i'm done with my rant.
zidane11
That's just plain stupid. First of all, why didn't she have a life jacket? It would be harder to drown with one on. Also, how did they know she was searching for spongebob? It should have been obvious once she started running out of breath or choking that she needs air. Someone could have jumped in and saved her. This is like when that lady at Mcdonalds sued because she didn't know that her coffee was hot and she spilt it.
Juu
*sigh* Didn't that same thing happen with pokemon, only flying?? I don't think it's very funny... but it's kinda weird knowing someone died looking for a sponge. oO'
Asylum
Well unless the parents had a severe fear of water then why didnt they attempt to save her? i mean you see your kid in the water running out of breathe and you grab some popcorn and watch? parent are getting stupider by the minute! Hybrid
Why did the parents let the kid in the water if she couldnt swim? and if they didnt know that she was in the water it's still their fault for not keeping an eye on her if they knew she couldnt swim. Theres really no excuse for it, if they did their jobs a parents this wouldnt of happened, I'm sick of parents blaming Tv, Movies and Music for things that wouldnt of happened if they did their jobs, they need to realize that theres no one to blame for bad parenting but themselfs. Its sad that theres parents out there that don't know what the hell they're doing.
Transtic Nerve
The parents basically are saying how stupid they by sueing Spongbob. They are admitting it. If they win, I guess we'll have to tell all the little kiddies that Pokemon don't exist and that big giant robots like Gundams or Transformers won't come after you and Gokou isn't going to shoot you with energy.... Although they'll probably win, because this is American, the land of embarassment.
Bing
Not being anti=american or anything because I love the place, but it's typical. I remember when a mother sued BBC for creating Tellytubbies, because her son jumped at the screen and knocked their 32' Television off the unit and got crushed to death. It's ridiculous. This is a bit like 'GTA In The Media' thread. Why do stupid, funny things like Spongebob Squarepants get money swindled off them, because of a careless act of bad parenting? It's time that parents take control of their kids, or T.V shows are going to have to take out insurance, for peace of mind so they don't get sued. *off subject a bit* The people are probably Trailer Trash, trying to get money from a tragedy like that.
wrist cutter
TV stations should start showing more "making of" type shows, to show kids that these things aren't real... for example, when I was young I believed the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were real... finally I figured out they weren't when I saw a "making of the movie" type show. I cried for days haha.
Manic Webb
It's bad parenting, plain and simple. I don't remember anyone ever suing the makers of "The Snorks" if/when their children died of drowning in the 1980's. The job of parents is to watch over their children like a hawk. How old was this girl? Did she know how to swim? What kind of boat was it? Where were her parents when this happened? How did they know she was looking for Spongebob? Why not "The Little Mermaid"? Was she wearing a lifejacket? It's sad that their daughter died and all, but what's real?
Syk3
Oh I don't believe this... Although I would be extremely angry at the television show that would have caused my child's death, I wouldn't have let this come about to become with. First off, I would have done everything in my power to save her, but it makes it seem like the parents in this situation might as well have stood back and watched. They're are really numerous possibilities that could have saved her, but only one that her parents see - the TV show influenced her. If sad, but it's not going to win them anything in court. TheShinje
Obviously, it is the parent's fault. Surely It can't be the T.V shows fault. It has always been up to parent's to explain to kids what's real and what's not. For example. I didn't die trying to fly like the Transformers, or break my neck doing wrestling moves. Why? because they are fake, and I was told so. And I don't go around breaking my teeth to get an emergency benefit form the tooth fairy either, no matter how broke I may be. chibi_kunoichi
lol the little mermaid:P i heard somewhere that they were cancelling spongebob but i saw it on tv yesterday:S and yah those parents of the girls are dumbasses!! i mean, there is a mom and a dad right? what were they doing the entire time their kid was dying? if it was a motor boat i could see how they couldn't hear her... yah, im not sidding with the parents but if it was a motor boat and they were going like 20 or 30 m/h, i can see how they wouldnt know that their daughter jumped out, it could be one of those times that u dont think your kid is a total idiot and they probably trusted her to stay in the boat, and she could have jumped out and been left behind, it doesnt take long to make distance between the kid and a boat in motion that "fast" ( i dont know if thats fast or not, i go by km) so in like 3-5 seconds, the kid could be far away and they prob couldnt see her because she didnt have a lifejacket on, which was veeerrrry stupid. and she could have been sucked down by the currents (i.e. titanic) plus the currents that weren't from the boat could sweep her under. u know she probably just wanted to see the fish, that sounds a whole lot more beleivable that looking for spongebob. so its not the girls fault but the dumbass parents. poor kid:( all she wanted to do was get closer to the water. vegeta rocker
Know what this reminds me of? I remember a news story of a man who has high cholesterol, and heart problems So can you guess who he sued? This guy, actually sued Mcdonalds! Like it has been said before, where were the parents? Probably downing another wine cooler. I hate parents.

Hiei Jagashi
Ok...these parents are ITIOTS. It's their fault, not the creators of Spongebob. They should've been watching their daughter in the first place. They just want to blame someone for her death. How immature. And the adults call US immature. And another thing, if the parents don't like it, they shouldn't have let her watch it in the first place. I hope they lose the law suit. I'm very sad to hear the death of their child, but you can't blame a cartoon for it. Every child has a creative mind like that. Just because I like Yu Yu Hakusho doesn't mean that I'm going to sue Yoshihiro Togashi or FUNImation if I jump in a bonfire and play like I'm Hiei. Come on. It the parent's fault, not the creators of Spongebob or Spongebob, a mere cartoon. People are SO freakin stupid. 0_o -Hiei
