Corey
I leaned back in my chair and looked over at the man three tables down. Despite the no talking signs the man contiuously mumbled to himself. Every once in a while he would utter a sound of pure fear. He was reading a large, leather-bound book. I looked down at my electronic book pad and pressed the next page button. It beeped softly and brought up the next page of my book. Man- "No..." I looked at him again and frowned. He had gotten thinner. When I first saw him, he had at least twenty pounds more than he had now. Something in that book must be getting to him. I shook my head and rubbed my eyes. Perhaps one of these days I would go and talk to him. Not today however. I was already slightly late. "No..." He repeated. I stood up and walked to the front desk. The mans tourmented mumbles followed me all the way there. Ryan- "I'd like to check this piece of Technology out." The clerk looked at me and smiled. I was a regular. Clerk- "And what would be the title of your latest book Mr. Schezar?" I smiled. Ryan- " 'Books, And How To Defile Them'." The clerk gave me a disturbed little grin and snatched the pad away. It was really a book on Dark Magic. I needed to learn more to achive an ultimate state of control. She wrote down my name and the books name with a fountain pen on a piece of yellowing paper. She handed the book back to me and smiled. Clerk- "It will be due on the 42nd day of the Sky Season. Have fun." I walked out of the library and into the sunlight. People had small stalls set up all along the street. They peddled food, pottery, crude weapons and other things. Our only technology is that that has been left behind by the Ancients. It included books in small metal pads, very advanced hygene tools, and astronomy instruments. I walked down into the crowd and set out for the city gates. I would leave and walk out into the desert surrounding Malcolm. There I would meditate and sharpen my skills. Ryan- "Taxi!" A man in a pull-cart ran up to me. "City Gates. Three pieces of gold no matter how you get me there." The mans eyes lit up and he started to pull me to the cities gates. I felt that pull in my heart again and tilted my head up to the sky. Why did I keep looking at the sky? I shook my head and leveled it with the street. Staring at the sun did no good. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Man- "Weapons.... Necklaces.... Armour!? WHY!" The clerk at the desk looked at the man and gave him a shrewd frown. He contiued reading. The Book of The Crafters 'The weapons were stored in great vaults. Some in pairs, others alone, waiting for the chosen ones. I don't understand what compelled us to make these, only that it feels right. We are all but wiped out. Some dark disease is wiping us out slowly. I myself am infected. I will probably die shortly after writing this. I've said that before, haven't I. I am losing my memory too. The vaults can only be opened by the chosen ones. They have to... I can't... They must use their blood. The vaults will be invisible to all but the chosen. They will be marked with the symbol of the Ancients, our forefathers. A large eye with a tear running down the front will mark the entrances. You must figure it out from their. I have no more will to keep going. Who ever is reading this, make it known. Make it known that you must defeat Lasic, The Dark Lord.' Man- "Lasic..." The man grabbed the book and started to walk out of the library. Clerk- "Sir! That is for reference only!" The man glared at her and ran out. Frankie
The wind was blowing calmly through an uninhabitad area. The trees danced in the motion of the wind. A girl walked through a small clearing of knee deep grass. She was wearing old like cloathes. Natural and made of mostly skins. She never killed to get the clothes they were a gift. The shirt was a frontal v cut like top with pieces of skins covered her shoulders. The skirt ran to about 3 inches above her knees and was just a skirt made of skins. Her Bluish hair shined in the sun and the red tips stood out more then anyting. Her eyes glistned in the sun and she smiled. Li: Grass...Trees.... life... seems to be slowly becomeing more and more scarse cant hardly find and peacefull places to concintrate She sighed and sat down folding her legs and the she listened to the area around her. One eye opened and she glanced at a few bushes ahead of her. Suddenly she was on her feet and headded in the other direction. Her heart was beating fast and her feet pounded on the ground as she ran. She heard heavy footsteps behind her so she turned and went around a tree. She closed her eyes and she started glowing. A bright red light emerged from her and spiraled around her like a dome of protectiong. Then the dome of red light fadded and a bird stood in the girls place. Its yellow eyes open and the wings spread wide as she took to the air... She flew up into the sky and kept going. The wind under her wings. She shifted her body a bit and let an updraft lift her higher as she continued over tons of land. Li: That was close... so much for peacefull thinking area... will i ever get a break.... well if i got a break... that would be agenst my normal routine... dont wanna do that Thoughs rushed through her head as she flew through the sky. The wind helped at some points and yet it was also fighting agenst her at the same time. She did not concintrate on where she was going. She just... kept flying not sure where she should go. The bird let out a screech and circled down and landed behind a large rock and out from behind the rock came the girl again. She took her hair and pulled it up and tied it exept for a few strands that blew across her face. Li: Well this looks good, For now... She then walks up to an unfamiliar city. DeathKnight
The sweat poured from a lone figures brow, the sweat drenching his clothes easily, as he reached the gates into Malcolm after 4 days of constant running from the devestation that was town. His silent, cunning nature was immediately visable to all who glanced at him, but for now any type of 'aura' he gave off to passersby was one of a tired man- Maybe even a desperate man. For a Demon Hunter intiate, he was still somewhat young and unskilled- Not quite fit for 4 days of straight running without severe fatigue. He walked into town, glanceing about- He had been here more than a few times within his life, but for the past 10 years he had not left the town as he was in the midst of training. Finally, he had returned- but he wished that it was under better circumstances. Where would he start? He didnt know. His anger flared and the energy that he had spent so much of his life training rose a bit, as his frustrations added fuel fo the fire. Rational thoughts battleing the fatigue-ridden animosity that had filled his soul after losing so many of his closest friends, he knew the first logical step to take would be to report it to the leader of this town. He jogged down the street, passing the various townspeople went about their business- The strangest of them a man who seemed to be delirious, waving a book in the air as he ran past him, the words he spoke were drowned out by everything else his highly-sensitive elven ears were picking up in the town- But he picked up the name of a person, he thought- "Ryan". He shoved it out of his mind for now, focusing at the immediate task at hand, his mind resetting several times over from the loss of rest. A large building at the center of Malcolm held the govermental offices- it looked ages old, and it might well be. But for now, Ken didnt care about any of that- He needed to alert people about the devestation that might be coming this way, even if it was something that seemed to be a 'natural' disaster that caused it all. He jogged, stumbleing a bit midway, into the building..
Frankie
After watching a guy job by and a crazy like man with a book Li decided this town was a little to... Strange for her likeings. Plus she never stayed in one place to long. Ever since her love was killed by earth creatures she has never found a reson to stay in one place and has grown to dispise staying in one place for to long. She looks for someplace to hide but was un succesfull so she just trasnformed in the middle of the area... she would have prefered doing it while hideing but when puch comes to shove she isent pickey. Everyone stares in amazement or disbeleife as they watch her change from a woman that looked in her 30's to an eagle of some sort. Li then took into the air as a couple children pointed at whispered to themselves about what they just saw. Li: Ugh... nothing of intrest there i guess.. She lands outside far away from the gates and trasnformes back in to the woman... She looks around and finds noting but wasted land . Li: I wonder what im lookng for... what i am to do. This planet was not... what i thought it was when first arriveing here 20 years ago... She untied her hair and let it shade her face as she sat on the ground and closed her eyes. She began to think to herself. She began to bring her energy levels back up with some meditation and rest. a couple hours she ahd alredy regained some energy and shifted her form into an armadillow of sorts. She was digging... it was much cooler ... it dident get her very far .... flying was fast but the sun beat down on her.... constintly.. digging it wa much cooler... slow yes... but cooler Soon she had broken through a small bank that over looks a low river. Soon she was the girl again and she sat near the edge of the river with her hair down. She watched the cool water go by. Glideing across a bed of pebbles. No fish though. She closed her eyes and let the light bounce off the water onto her face. It felt good. Wamr and comforting... Just then she heard something..... behind her
Juu
Laitina stepped lightly, her bare feet silent apon the grass. She held a long, silver pitcher at her chest, looking straight forward. Her dress blew slowly at the gentle morning breeze, as the only sound heard was the soft swaying of the trees. It was serene. Everything was calm. Just as it had been for generations. This was her home. The tall, strong trees protected the borders of the thick wood. Her home was in the center of the forest. A small, ancient mist spring. The weather was always cool there. Ancient markings on the bark of the trees were said to keep the climate the same there. So the plants and water there would be enchanted with the power to heal and treat wounds. Laitina poured the water from the vase softly, the water elegantly landing in the mirror, which was shaped like a bowl. The mirror wouldn't work without the water, and only with the water from the spring. She placed her hand far above the water, and closed her eyes. "Amun' ast'ili' hasta" She whispered, ripples slowly beginning to form. She gently removed her hand from its postition, and watched as the water began to form a picture. A picture so vivid, it felt like a dream... The water showed a small, leather coated book, with an eye in the center. It began to shake, and eventually began to glow. It changed to a different picture, and showed a few people, wearing necklaces and armor, sheathing weapons. She leaned over, and narrowed her eyes at the peoples' faces, trying to make out their faces. Each of their faces were hidden in shadow. The future of these items were uncertain... Those who would claim them were yet to be decided.
Frankie
Li stood up and slowly turned around just as somebodys fist flew at her. Thinking quickly she dodged to the left and it missed her. She kept her eyes on the attacker. He looked about 25 and his blond hair was dirty and he seemed crazy. Man: BEGONE DEMON! the man screamed as he threw another punch. Again she dodged. Li: I never did anyting to you... Man: your a demon.... curse you..... begone from here.... go back to the firey pit you came from.... let no more villages be destroyed cause of you Li: You bore me human Man: So you admit being demon? Li: I admit i am different... but.... demon i am not Man: Lier in a rage he lunged at her throwing her to the ground.... he began pounding her with all his might. Li: Does he know what hes getting into? I am doubting it The man turned her face purple with only a few blows and she rolled her eyes and grabed his shoulder with one hand and slammed her palm into his face full force..but not hard enough to kill him. Wit that he pulled but hands up to his nose and rolled off her. She stood up and touched her lip and looked at the blood on her finger. Li: Well that was fun and all.... but i must be going... Man: Curse you.. Li: My past is a curse in its oun... I have no use for anymore tourture... not form you either.. With that she walked off into the woods. Her hair seemd to be weightless as the wind picked it up. Something Strange about this area.... li couldent put her finger on it... she shruged and kept walking. She soon found a nice tall tree and climbed up onto one of its tall brances. She positioned herself and slowly fell to sleep up in the tree. DeathKnight
The shattering sound of his fist slamming on the desk ripped through the whole of the building, the desk itself cracking in two in the aftermath of it. Polotics- Ken hated polotics. Cursing aloud, he glanced back at the town's leader again, trying to keep himself as calm as possible. Ken: What the hell do you mean that you cant do anything to help? Mayor: The Demon Hunter clan's home is in the middle of nowhere, and as of now, we cannot spare more men to help- However, I thank you for the warning you gave us. His self control finally disintegrated, and he left the room as quickly as possible- Droplets of blood seeping out of his skin instead of normal sweat now, as his emotional level peaked and his blood itself was yearning to explode. He exited the building, his lifeless eyes stareing out at nothing. His spirit energy was running out, and without it he was totally blind. Ken: I'll rest up for the night.. and then.. run back? Haha... Slowly, he walked to the Inn, tossing a few gold to the Innkeeper, catching the keys he was tossed back in return. Staggering down the hall, he came to his room and unlocked it, slamming it behind him. Half passing out, half laying down, he fell onto the bed, a small gust of air eminating from his tired, lonely, frustrated soul. And blackness came, descending to take over his weary soul..
Frankie
Li woke up in the middle of the night and looked around. She was very high in the tree and would be completely unoticable from the ground. Good thing too.... the man was wandering around looking for her.... with about... 7 other men Man: That demon will pay.... it cant take all of us... DEMON... COME OUT AND FACE US Li rolled her eyes and leaned back and stared up at the clear sky. The stars seemed bright that night.... the moon glowed down on them brightly. She smiled... for htis planet was covered with beauty... unlike her home which was poisoned a long time ago... Eveyrhting died and left the planet in nothing but shammbles... not many survived and not man got away. The moon and stars calmly smiled down on her. The midnight breeze also kindly dances about kicking up leaves Li: Hmm.. its peacefull i guess... exept for a few enhabitants.... this planet wouldent be so dull if i wasent so alone..... but then.. .no one shares my need for travle... my need to keep moveing. Im sure no one else does... and if they do... i have yet to find one. This planet so peaceful at times... but i feel something is wrong She thought to herself while ocassonaly looking down and the man and his group who seemd to be searching the best they could. Show those midless old fools just what he was capable of. No, that would be pointless. What he needed was power, a weapon, an army, even a small force of two or three hundred would suffice. Deedlit
Elsyan walked wearily through a forest, heading in some random direction. Which direction she was taking, she didn't know. She didn't care. She had no home anymore, no friends, no family, nothing. She wanted to just lie down and die, yet for some reason, she couldn't. She had to keep on going. Her gaze had been abstracted for a while now, and when Elsyan looked up, she noticed that the trees were thinning and were growing few in number, meaning that she must be coming to the end of the forest. She looked towards the sky. It was a few hours before noon, the weather was cool, and by the looks of the sun's position, she was traveling northward. Elsyan: "That direction's as good as any," she thought to herself gloomily. A chill breeze came from the east and forced Elsyan to wrap her white cape around her tightly. After a few more minutes she came out of the woods. Ahead of her was a village or city of some sorts. Weary from traveling, Elsyan approached the gates. On a plaque in the center of the gate was a sign that read "The Capital City of Malcom." Elsyan shrugged and walked through the gates. One of the first things she noticed was a man waving a book histerically. Many people backed away from the man, thinking that he was crazed or demented. Elsyan shifted to one side as the man ran past. She wondered if there were many more people like that in this city? Probably not. She shrugged and walked towards a tavern.
Sui Generis
Darkness covered the city. It was nearing midnight and they were few who stayed out this late. There was a lone figure out tonight. He moved silently in the shadows, hiding in them. Taking a look you wouldn't be able to see him untill he moved. All that appeared was a dark shadow. Darker than the shadows. Yet if he looked in your direction you would catch one thing. Two small silver glints of light. His eyes. He wondered slowly making sure he was completely out of sight. Being seen ment death, maybe not to him, but someone. Death. Diuri hated death. Yet, death seemed to be tied to his ankles. Everywhere he went, someone died. Why couldn't the humans see he just wanted to be left alone? Death, thats what got him in this mess. If it hadn't been for him killing those demons, he would've never been banished. He sighed. He was an outcast, noone wanted him. Thats why he traveled. Well thats what he told himself. He wasn't sure. Something made him keep going. It was like someone was right behind him pushing him. He was lonely yet he never stopped. Humans wouldn't take the time to say hi. They'd just attack him. After another ten minutes of wondering through the shadows he saw the gate. Opened. For once he might get out of a town easily. He crept slowly towards the gate. Taking the time to make sure every step was safe. He came to the gate and stopped in fear. Two men were coming from the forest that was beyound. They were screaming. Diuri flung himself against the inside of the gate and watched them go screaming by. He caught one word..."Demon!" His eyes flashed. A demon. In the forest? Demons were rarely found so close to towns, or in such a...live...forest. He was going to go check it out. He loosened his dagger that was under his shirt. He stayed planted against the wall untill the two were out of sight. He cautiously stuck his head out and looked into the forest, peering to see if any more humans would come. Nothing. He slipped against the outside of the gate. Huggin onto the last shred of shadow before he ran into the forest. He hated parting with the darkness. It was his safety. He took a deap breath and looked at the forest one more time. It was maybe thirty yards from the town. He would be able to sprint across it with ease, but he still didn't want to. He sighed. Without any warning he burst from the gate wall and ran. He sped up as he got halfway to the forest. He felt vulnerable. The moon's light seemed to shine on him alone. He continued running. Praying noone saw him. He suddenly entered the forest. He let out a deep breath. Diuri: That was easy..... Suddenly more voices came from the forest. Men. More of them. Screaming as well. Diuri hid behind a tree as they came running by. They were running as if Satan himself was on their heels. He stood up slowly from his croutching position. Must've been with the others. Most demons wouldn't scare humans, let alone this bad. This wasn't any normal demon. His eyes narrowed at the thought. Whatever demon it was, it was going to die. Death, he hated it, yet he lived it. He sighed and continued walking into the forest looking for some sign of this demon.
Frankie
Li: I need to hide for a while She changed back into the human form... but.... this figure was tired... normaly a human would be asleep... so she began to think... Li: Well i might as well go to my main shift form.... She stood up tall as her skin grew darker... more of a purple color. Her ears got pointy and a long tail slid out it seemed to have like a point at the end... kind of like an arrow head... suddenly from her shoulder blades sprouted wings that looked of a demon Li: I may look demon... but i am a shape shifter.... this half human half demon form is my main most usefull shift form... I still dont get how that man figured it out though... i was in full human form... She sat down and curled her tail around and she grabbed the end of it and swirled the tip of her tail around a bit as she thought... She heard things though... she wasent sure what... ti sounded like something searching for something... Li: Most likely some person looking for me... the demon.... pfft... if only they understood Her long ears followed the sound... it seemd to get closer but she igored it Her wings wrapped around her... keeping her more warm She looked around with her redish eyes.. Corey
I finnaly got to the gates. The cabbie had taken about two hours. I didn't mind. The desert was cool at night. It would be much easier to go through my routine of meditations. The heat baked my mind and made it hard to concentrait. I walked out of the gates and handed the man three gold pieces. I didn't go far, just enough to be away from the noise of the city. I got to the top of a dune and sat. I traced a circle in the sand with my finger and watched it turn black. The black slowly melted into a dark glass. Other tendrils of glass began to grow outwards from the circle. They stopped and formed small black circles of their own. Black fire erupted from them and hung in the air in spheres. I raised both of my hands in the air and the spheres began to orbit my arms. They slowly cam together and melted into one sphere. It rotated slowly on the tips of my outstretched fingers. Slowly it flowed onto my arms, covering them in cool black fire. It grew larger and covered the rest of my body. Soon I was incased in liquid fire. I opened my eyes, and it all dissapeared. I stood, refreshed and energized. I looked to the east and saw the sun just peaking over the horizon. The meditations had taken all night, like normal. It was like sleeping to me. I stood up and walked back toward the city. I should really stop paying the inkeeper for that room. I never use it. That's where I would start my buisiness today. I reached the gates and signaled the gaurds. They opened it and I walked in, southbound. It was near the south end of the town. I would retract my reservation and stop the automatic billing to my account in the city bank. Then I would go back to the library. Read a little more. Perhaps confront the man that had been talking yesterday. Maybe he wasn't really that bad.
Juu
Latina felt footsteps in the earth. Some human, some immortal. She moved her palm slowly over the water, ripples beginning to form once more. The mirror showed men holding torches, running helplessly throughout the winding forest, right outside hers. They were less than a league away, and were growing closer, and closer. Then she saw what was chasing them. Mindless, reckless demons, hissing and grunting as they made their way onto the flesh of the men close by. She felt a strange thing amongst her forest as well. Something she had never felt the presence of before. She focused more closely on the demons, peering at the creatures as the mirror grew closer to the demons. She studied a marking on their necks. An eye with some form of heirogliphics was printed there. Laitina waved her palm over the water once more, the water disappearing to smoke as she moved away from the well. She had some studying that had to be done. ---------------- Here's a picture of where Laitina lives... DeathKnight
Ken's eyes slowly slid open. After a few moments, he rolled over onto his back and stretched casually, his bones popping, slipping back into their proper place. Slinging his feet over the side of the bed, he stood and walked silently over to a bowl, which was filled with fresh water. Splashing himself a few times, the cold water snapping himself fully awake. Ken: What do I do now? Hmm... Sniffing under his arms, he silently nodded to himself. First, he would go to the back of the Inn and get himself cleaned up before anything else. Exiting his room, he descended the stairs into the main lobby area. Silently, he walked past the desk into the main bath area, stripping all his clothes off and slipping into the water. Ken: Ahhhhhhhhh.. this is what I needed.........
Frankie
A bird takes flight in the moring sun as li awaoke from her mindless sleep. She glances around. The sun beat down on the ground around her. She sighed and stood... She placed a hand over her eye.... it still hurt but she could see so it dident matter much. But now she had a large slash mark over her eye... She looked at her wings and tail....as they slipped back into her body.... her skin went to a plaeish tan and her hair went back to bluee and red she walked back towards the strange gates of the town... Sui Generis
Diuri snuck along the forest ground. He'd been watching the girl all night. She was different from the others. She was a shape shifter. Dangerouse. He was drawn to her. He didn't know why. He followed close behind as she began walking towards the gate. He had to talk to her. Even against his better judgement and instict he continued on. As she reached the clearing Diuri spoke. The words were deep, flowing out of his mouth. Almost as a whisper. Diuri: Why do you help them? The girl, now in human form, whirled around facing Diuri. A slight suprised expression lingered on her face before it quickly disappeared. She glared at him. Diuri held his ground nervously. She studied him slowly. Diuri: Why do you help the humans, they'll only betray you.

Corey
I walked into the inn. Steam from the bathing room was slowly slinking into the lobby. I inhaled and smelled a scented soap. I could probably stand a shower... I smiled and walked up to the attendant. Attendant- "What can I do for you sir?" He smiled, a salesmans smile if I had ever saw one, and grabbed a pen. Ryan- "Well, I'm looking to discontinue the rental of apartment 9b. I haven't stayed there in months." The attendants smile fell a notch. He skimmed over some documents and looked up. Attendant- "Mr... Ryan Schezar is it?" I noded. "I assume you still have your key." I noded again. "Good, it seems you have an item in the room. Our cleaning staff reported it a day or two ago. Fetch you item and then we can discuss the closing of your account." I found the key in one of the many pockets and walked up the stairs. I got to the second floor and went down nine rooms. Carefully, I slid the key into the lock and turned it. The lock snapped open and I turned the nob. Immediately, dust hit my face. Ryan- "A day ago... Bull..." They might have been in here but they sure as hell didn't clean. I walked in, holding my robe over my face as a makeshift filter. The package was wrapped in paper. It looked like a piece of wood. I walked over, removing my robe, and attempted to pick up the item. I couldn't. I rapped it with my knuckle. It sounded like stone. I tore off the paper to reveal a large, smooth stone tablet. On the tablet were strange glyphs. Many intertwined. It looked like a form of Elvish, but none that I had ever seen. I could only recognise two words, "Vault" and "Library". Of course the Library had a vault. It kept the late fee's in it. I shook my head and tried to lift it again. It wouldn't move. I made a quick rubbing with a piece of paper and a crayon. The inscription was now on the paper. I shrugged and walked back downstairs. Attendant- "Did you retrieve your item Mr. Schezar?" Ryan- "Actually, it's not mine. I don't often put large stone tablets in my room." The man did a quick frown. Attendant- "Very well. If you could say here for a moment, I will get the forms you need to sign." He walked into a back room. I waited.

Jesus Chicken
Jah'leer wandered deep into the forest. Not stopping for sleep. He was unfamiliar with the wood, and he didn't want to let a troll take a bite out of him while he slept. A roar echoed through the trees, coincidence, thinking about a troll and one crashes through the underbrush? It was a little bigger then himself, green skinned, and drooling. Obviously hungry for a meal. The troll screamed as Jah'leer raised his shield and enchanted mace. Lightning sparked over it, colouring it blue. This confused the creature, but it didn't pause, leaping at Jah'leer. He side stepped, sending it crashing to the ground. This was a move that always worked on a lone troll. It lay there for a moment, considering what to do. Jah'leer, calmly hurried over, and proceeded to smash it's skull in. Sparks of electricity coarsed through the beast's skull, killing it quickly. Jah'leer wandered on, wondering were he was. The trees looming large, almost like an elven wood...
