Laitina watched the two from her mirror, seeing Li lean closer to the water. That wasn't a good idea...
----

The water began to bubble from the center. A few more bubbles appeared from the center, as a puff of smoke followed each bubble.

"What..?"

Li stepped back from the rock pool, and stared uneasily at the water. They had taken a wrong turn. It was to the spring of Naur, which ment 'Flame' in elvish. A few words appeared before the egde of the spring, mysteriously engraving itself in crimson letters along the stone.
-------

Laitina's eyes narrowed. The spring had awoken.

"Bereth o Naur..." Laitina whispered fearfully.
-------

A ghost-like figure rose from the water, glowing of red and orange, her hair glowing with flame. Her pupil-less eyes turned to Li and Diduri, who both stood firmly before her.

"Minno!" The figure hissed, drawing her hand towards them. The demon outstretched her hand, and gestured for them to come.
(Enter!)

The two drew back immediately. This didn't seem right...

"Altolo!" Diduri found himself shouting.

The figure leaned back, and went back into the water. The demon disappeared into the water instantly.

Diduri looked at himself, bewildered at what he said. Li quickly whirred around, and the two began running another direction.

 • 3 weeks later...
Diuri's mind was flying around. His stomach flipped several times. He didn't feel well. How did he know what to say? What did he say? Why had it drained so much out of him to say it? He felt the wind blow. It sent a shiver up his spine. That must be the way to go. He sighed. This was going to be harder than he thought.

He looked up at Li and they both nodded, agreeing to go in the direction of the wind. The two set off towards their new direction not saying a word to eachother.

Diuri was scared of himself now. What else could he do that he didn't know....

Li walked silently all she could hear was the wind.. she followed it to a nice looking body of water.

Li: This better be the place. . . if not im gonna have a fit and turn into a dragon and fly off... this is rediculas...

the one who had been stareing at her since they left was quiet. . . He seemed bothered by somehting... thoughts of some sort.

Li: Well wheres the thing we put the water in...oh here it is...

Li approches and shakes her head. . . Why did she always get herself into these things.. .she knew she should have stayed on the outskirts of the forest for the night even if it did mean being attacked by humans.

Diuri watched her slowly. He still didn't trust this at all. There was something still wrong. He began thinking. It isn't right...he thought it several times.

Diuri: "Hold it!"

He slowly walked to the pool. He studied it for a moment. He closed his eyes and his mouth began moving.

Diuri: "Darlis veolji terram."

There was a ripple in the water. It got bigger and bigger. Slowly a beautiful figure came out of the water. It looked at the two travelers. She looked at them. She said nothing, but both knew it was ok to take the water.

Li slowly bent down and filled the container. Diuri watched her, barely standing. Li took the container and began walking away. Diuri looked at the figure again. He studied her for a moment then nodded.

Diuri: "Aytid vawerf"

The figure nodded back at him and sunk back into the water. Diuri's head was spinning. He began walking back with her Li slowly, trailing far behind her.

Laitina's head ached. She withdrew her hand from the mirror's edge, and placed it on her forehead. It was difficult staring at the water for a long time. The water was boiling, and the steam was burning her eyes. The image faded, and the water seemed to sink into the mirror. This was the first time she had watched something for such a long time. Usually, she would only gaze apon the forests, and that would only be an hour or two.

But the veiling of the sun had begun, and night was beginning to cover the vast sea of stars. It was the time when the trolls would awake. Now, the difficult part of the two's journey would begin. Their mission had only begun.

She poured the remainder of the morning's water into the mirror. Laitina would have to wait until the next mourning after this supply had run out. The two's faces appeared in the mirror, much clearer than before. Her eyes had grown used to the unclear images, and to see the clearity of the picture once again felt strange and unfamiliar. This was, however much better for the night. Creatures of the shadow would awaken, and could not be easily seen.'

Diduri had started a fire, and used the flames for a torch. He kept the torch close, as Li began to taste the flesh of their meal. Their stomaches weren't even close to starving, yet they were all aware that this meal would be important, for their journey would get more dangerous from this point.

The flesh of the deer felt rich and heavenly on their tounges, and each bite was sweet and tender. Li was deep in thought, for her eyes had deepened than they were during the day. Diduri leaned over the fire.

"What are you thinking about?" He asked, putting down his piece and ready to listen.

"Nothing." Li replied, shaking her head.

"Alright..." Diduri spoke, being able to nearly read what she was thinking.

"It's just-..." Li began. "I don't know..."

Li avoided eye contact, and fixed her eyes at a nearby branch as she spoke.

"I don't understand..." She said reluctantly. "My past is so unclear to me. All the darkness, pain..."

Li shook her head once more, as if to break from a trance. She hung her head on her shoulders, and didn't speak for the rest of the meal.'

Laitina's eyes sadened. There was so much more to Li's life than she would show. Reading minds were simple, yet she had never felt anything so deep come from one lifeform's memory. Even the saddest tales she had heard could not compare. A single tear fell from her cheek. She closed her eyes as it fell into the mirror.
