My Music Overveiw. Punk/Metal/Comedy/Other

[color=darkred]Well, I have been listening to allot of new bands/songs lately, and I didn't want to make a ton of differen't differen't threads. So this is my music overview. I asked James and he said if it is against the rules a moderator would deal with it. So feel free to just delete this if it is.

[center][b]Blink 182's good song. [/center][/b]
Well, I am a big punk/metal fan. And like many punk fans I don't care much for bands like Blink 182. Last night me and my friend had KaZaA open and we couldn't think of anything to put in. Somehow we came to the Blink 182 song "Damnit". When I listened to it I really enjoyed it. It's really a great song. Than I thought maybe I just like Blink 182 now. So I downloaded a few of their other songs. And they still sucked. Damnit is a stand out song, and even non Blink fans should try it.

I saw a thread about them a while back and decided to look into them. I expected them to be, rockish type stuff. But when I listened they were, I am not sure what to call it. Just weird. Blah. Yoshimi Battles Pink Robots is the coolest name for a song ever though.

Once again I downloaded this song because I saw a thread about it here on OB. I really like the lyrics to the song. In some ways it's truthfull. But when he starts talking about how there aren't any black presidents. That is just stupid. Why is it white peoples fault that a black person hasn't ever been president? Anyway I don't like most rap but this is a good song.

He is one of the funniest comedians ever. He calls chinese resturants and asks for "Chikety China The Chinese Chicken", and he is Chinese. He also does rap parody songs. It's great. ^ ^

This is where the punk/metal comes in. I have been downloading loads of punk tonight, and the past few days. Punk is better than metal on my scale now. I used to like metal allot more. Punk just [i]is[/i] better. Now that I have listened to a few more bands. I really like Against All Authority, A.F.I. (which I had in my sig for a while), Bouncing Souls, Face to Face, and Modest Mouse. As for metal I love Rammstein now. Thats all....

[b]Reponse:[/b] While I shall admit that Blink 182 [i]does[/i] have some songs that I am able to tolerate, I cannot say that they have many. [i]Damnit[/i] is okay, but I would quickly turn the radio station if a better song is on (a better song would probably not be hard to find). Blink 182 was much better when they were just Blink.

This has nothing to do with it being the white people's fault for not having a black president, or any race for that matter. He is talking about society in general today, and how most people are not willing to make "Changes". See how the title of the song fits here? ^__^

AFI, up until [i]Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes[/i], was punk. Though they then switched over to a more harcore sound, instead of punk. Mustard Plug, as you listed in your picks, is a ska band. In the case of ska, I reccomend the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Nothing like good, old school, rascal king ska. ^__^[/size]

Flaming Lips are rock. I think a lot of people expect them to be hardcore or something based on the name. I certainly did before I got into them. It's just light, experimental rock for the most part. Nothing more. I thought that was kind of clear in the thread heh.

I don't like Blink 182 because of some stupid righteous sell-out punk reason. I never liked them, and I doubt I ever will. The music annoys me, and the vocals are awful. I mostly ignore them because it annoys be that they got so far, while other, far better punk/whatever bands fall to the side.

That's about all I have to say. I used to be into metal, I've gotten more into punk/ska/hardcore/etc (I don't tend to spend time differentiating between anything but punk and ska). I've seen this happen to a lot of people though. Metalheads turning into punk. I can't really think of the opposite happening to anyone offhand though heh.

Any random bands I personally recommend are in my my sig. Ska wise... I am mostly into Voodoo Glow Skulls. They aren't as popular as I assumed they would be, so if you don't know them, check them out.
