Ah we talked about this a while ago. And now that it's about to come out, a lot of us are eagerly awaiting to play this crazy game. I hope they've improved on a lot of the elements...like story and voice acting. Even still, it's mostly the action that makes Devil May Cry good.

heh. the devil may cry series is getting a new and improved version of a game that was alreasy pretty darn good to begin with. dmc2 will give dante new abilities, and we also feature a playable female character. i forgot her name, but i do know that she will be able to wield two knives, and can probably upgrade her weaponry like dante in the previous dmc.anyways, the game is to be released january 28th. happy huntin, die demons.-D-

yeah, this one is gonna be better because there's more outside places. The camera angle got a little screwed up indoors. I'm not too excited about the new playable charecter, though. Do sequals always need new playable charecters? I'd rather just play as Dante the whole time

The last Devil May Cry was okay. I don't necessarily think it loved up to its hype.

The visuals were gorgeous, the play mechanics were spot on (with the exception of a few awkward camera angles) and the main character was terrific. But, the game grew old quickly.

Too many of the same bosses were repeated, and magically animated puppets that flail around with reckless abandon aren't my idea of cool enemy designs.

Devil May Cry 2 looks promising and seems to address many of its predecessors flaws. Adding another playable character was a nice step in adding replay value; I'm glad that it's not Trish. lol. Dante's new maneuvers serve the game's "cool" theme well. The ability to run up walls is particularly interesting, along with the new gun capabilities (shooting enemies in front of you with one gun, and enemies behind you with the other).

Yeah, so, I'm mildly excited about the sequel. It looks killer. If it has more substance and variety than the original, I'll be a happy man.

Note to Capcom: Fix the voice acting.

Once again, another Cel Shaded sequel. I saw a video of this a while back and it looks like a change. I found the first devil May Cry somewhat good at first, but then I just lost interest in it, as once i had unlocked the twchniques to be used, it lost its touch with me. But that just occurs to mind. I will most likely be purchasing Devil May Cry 2 though, and i hope Dante's somewhat matured a bit.

Zidane, I'm certain that Devil May Cry 2 is not cel-shaded. The shots I've seen reflect the original's overall style, but with higher resolution textures, slightly better modeling, and improved shading (which adds to the dark ambiance).

I couldn't imagine a gothic game like DMC adopting the soft, cartoony look of cel-shaded visuals, heh.

I am anticipating this game very much, especially if it surpasses the first game. While we're on that, I really liked the little bit of Devil May Cry that I played, and I'm hoping to finally get it now that it has gone down to $20.

I have heard, however, that the first game lacks adequate length, you could say. Many of my friends complained that the game was too short, but from what I've heard from the sequal, it takes care of this problem.

Well, I deffinitly can't wait until January 28th. ^_^

......-_-; Oh, hehe. ^_^ whoops. Well it looked Cel Shaded anyway. *Makes fool of himself* Anyway I am now looking forward to this game for definite. The ability to run up walls eh? I hear a new combo system is involved but this is probably just a rumor. Either way, It'll take an eternity to get over here in miserable England. Well I'll still purchase it. Does anyone know what you have to do to actually run up walls? because in combat, you'd have to make it effective. For example, you press L1 when in Combat Mode and you can lock on to a wall and then press X or something. Well I'm now confusing myself. *Dies*

I have the game, man it is so nice. Dante is off the hook. Got a cool new look. Man jumps like 100ft in the air.(not really he just jumps real high) I love the game is demon forum is nice. Only one thing I don't like. Is his voice. They changed it from the first guy. I mean don't get me wrong there nothing wrong with this guys voice sup for it's not the original guys. You know. "WO WO WO Slow down baba. The bath room in the back." He was the man.

I also bought the game yesterday. The reviews I read haven't been all too kind, but I enjoy the game. The combat actually feels better than it did before, because Dante's abilities are more exaggerated (i.e., he can jump much higher and the acrobatics are improved).

I'll need to play the game more before I can give super impressions, but I can say that I'm a little disappointed with the storyline. Trish is not mentioned at all, so she has just disappeared from the picture. So, the plot is a little disjointed from the first game's. I haven't seen a single mention of "Devil Never Cry." Also, the storyline is even less apparent than before. You're usually just placed into a sprawling, baron environment with little dialogue or cut scene to support the change in scenery.

Dante's silence is a little disheartening too. I miss his badass egotistical comments and one-liners. The attitude just isn't as apparent.

The graphics are impressive and the resolution is high, as I expected. The music is moody and atmospheric...probably superior to Devil May Cry's. Lastly, the difficulty seems to have been toned down significantly. Whether that is a bad or good thing, depends on how challenging you prefer your games to be.

Oh well, my overall opinion is still out on this one.

It doesn't surprise me that DMC2 received a poorer rating than its predecessor.

I'm kind of annoyed that this series has received such publicity; the first game was nice, but way overrated. I'd have given the first game maybe a 7.5 out of 10...or half a point more than Luigi's Mansion.

Not a bad game, but not wonderful. Above average. It was insanely short...very easy and in some ways lacked variety. DMC2, based on the reviews, seems to be even worse in these key areas.

So, I think I'll give DMC2 a miss. Instead, I'm going to be looking out for titles such as Viewtiful Joe and Killer 7; titles which seem to really be featuring the best of Capcom's innovation. Even Resident Evil Online is looking very interesting...

I bought the first one as soon as it came out. By the time I had reached mission 5, I was bored stiff. However, after nearly a year of not touching the copy, I decided to give it another try. This time though, I got hooked like the rest of them. I enjoyed it a lot, and found it to be one of the most amazing, inspiring games for the Playstation 2. No matter the corny, cheesy dialogue, the terrible voice acting, or the made-by-a-10-year-old story. Devil May Cry kicked [butt].

I was looking very much to the sequel, as much as I did for Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny and Zone of the Enders: 2nd Runner. I saw it at Best Buy, but decided to wait. I thought to myself, "This game probably rocks, but let's just read the reviews to make sure. Remember! It's 2003, the year to not [mess] up!" (Yes, I have constant inner dialogues.)

Anyway, I trust GameSpot judgment on video games as much as I trust my own, and I was shocked and disappointed about reading their review. What was this about Dante not having a personality? Or the world being less detailed? Worst of all, what was this about not being fun?

Capcom seemed to have let me down. Capcom, the King of Sequels, failed to impress me. I read IGN's review just for kicks (they rate games too high. Anyone who "trusts" them should not be playing video games.) Surprisingly, they had similar things to say about Devil May Cry 2, though they gave it a higher rating.

I will rent it, when I'm sure I can make time to play through it religiously. It would be great if I actually found the game fun, but my hopes will seem to remain as nothing but that... hope.

Dante's personality and attitude are almost completely nonexistent. He no longer taunts bosses or delivers badass quips. Hehe, come to think of it, I've rarely heard him speak more than a sentence in a cut scene. His arrogance is sorely missed.

The world is sharper, but it is less detailed, as GameSpot said. You're usually placed in cities or towns where you'll see the same buildings repeat over and over again. There's little variety or gothic architecture in the worlds. The word "boring" describes them well. It doesn't help that the camera is really bothersome either. Since you're in a wide open area, it's zoomed out, eliminating close-ups almost entirely.

Lastly, the game is fun....for about five minutes. Once I saw Dante's new moves, the excitement was gone. The first Devil May Cry didn't exactly plunge the player into exploration, but at least you weren't on one completely linear path. There were secret levels and stuff that haven't seen in the sequel yet.

Also, it's not as fun beating mutant helicopters and crap, as it was tackling enormous creatures that taunted you and stuff. Stay away from this one. If you absolutely must play it, rent first.
