Alatariel sat on the hill watching the big sun rise off the horrizon. She sat there every day since she came to the suface watching the sunrise for this was her test, her trial to stay on the suface. Alatariel knew that for her to stand her life on the surface she had to live like a surface-dweller.

She felt as though she could almost take the sun's brightness now, that she had finally gotten use to it. Either that or the sun was fading, and fading fast. With the apperance of her kin it made Alatariel believe that latter.

Alatariel sighed and looked to the valley below. Where a lush green forest had been stood a few blacken trees and shrubs. The dark elves had been here a few days ago and had mercilessly burned the beautiful forest. Few animals lived there now for the stench was far too strong.

Alatariel stood up and paced around impatiently.
Alatariel: When are they coming? I thought I told them to meet me here at the break of dawn.

She stopped pacing and breathed in deeply.
Alatariel: I must calm down. They will come... I hope.

Alatariel looked back over the hill and saw someone approaching her...

9 miles from Alatariel~

Ken: By the Bloodsong clan I end your pitiful life.

With a quick movement of his arm, he slit the Dark Elf's throat, blood messily seeping out onto his sword and beyond onto the grass, a slow puddle forming as the now-lifeless body dropped to the ground. Silently, Ken slashed his sword in the air, the blood from it slinging down onto another patch of grass. He sheathed the sword and lept up into the air, returning to the business at hand.

His eyes flickered a moment before he sprinted suddenly, seemingly disappearing from veiw. Leaping up he soared across the sky, his cloak flapping behind him, for a good 23 seconds he soared, before landing on the ground again, where he continued sprinting. The whole area was a mixed painting of writhing pain and torment, and life aspiring to hold on- The Dark Elves had done this during the cover of complete darkness, when they melded into the night almost too well. As the sun rose, their hateful ways cast a darkness on the forest that once was- The sorrow of the pixies that survived the attack evident to any with an inkling of mana in their veins- You could hear them sobbing, others saying they had to rebuild in another forest.

It was indeed sad, but emotions didnt come with this job. He had a meeting to attend, a place to be, and an appointment to keep- All the things that did come with the job. Sailing between trees, his speed only died down a bit when he decided to fly through the air, as it was a bit of a thrill for him to do so.

Covering 4 miles at a almost insane pace, his eyes drifted from side to side.. The Dark Elves were out and about in the daylight now, he knew that much. His life was on the line.. but he had just 3 more miles to go..

Alatariel watched Ken as he slit the throat of one of her kin. She smiled slightly then frowned when she thought of all the other Dark elves that were out there. This was only one, only one in the mass of darkness.

Alatariel thought about what her kin had done to this beautiful land, a land that she barely had the privilege to know. Rage started to seath inside her as she thought of what she could have known about this land. She quickly calmed herself though knowing that she shouldn't be in that kind of a state to meet her companions.

Alatariel sat and waited as Ken started to cover the distace between them at a fast pace. Even though he was far away Alatariel could see him clearly. After all she was an elf.

Elsyan slashed at the last Dark Elf around her. Elsyan could tell that they were just part of the scouting party and that there would be plenty more in ther area, and she might not get defeat them with the same ease as she beat the scouters, meaning that she would have to hurry. Already she was about a mile away from Alatariel on the hill, making good time.

Elsyan looked upwards at the dull sun. Why? Why must Darkness come with the waning of the Sun? She shook her head sadly. A sudden gust of wind came towards Elsyan from the right, blowing her long red hair away from her face. She caught a scent in the air that came with the breeze. Drow. Somehow they had discovered her and were heading towards her. How, she had no idea. She could already hear that rustling of many leaves and many feet coming closer. She knew she couldn't fight that many. She looked back towards the hill. Running would be her only chance of losing them. Elsyan leapt behind a tree, running towards the hill under the cover of the shadows.

Elsyan found herself a snug spot where a few broken-down logs formed a cave-like coverup. She was safe there. She heard a pounding of boots and radical outbursts of the approaching group. Then, it faded. They had passed, though, it still didn't come to her that it was safe. She stayed where she was.

After about 5 minutes, she relieved herself of the spot and paced around a bit to get the feel of walking once more. Then she heard a voice. She glanced up into the tree next to the hill only to find another high elf. He was munching an apple. "Hiding, were you?"

"Yes. What's it to you?" She asked, annoyed by his silly chuckle.

"Oh, nothing really. I was just watching. Lots of them, there were, aye?" He bit into his apple, tossed it aside and jumped down to Elsyan's side. This made her drop back, keeping her distance. He was tall, fit, handsome (like his creator. heh heh). He stared at Elsyan as she stared back. It was he who broke the silence. "So? Who are you?"

"You have the nerve to ask me? You're the one who started talking to me!"

"Very well. I'm a high elf. And you?"

"Well, I can see that!"

"Okay then. We're connecting."

"Grr.. fine. I'm Elsyan. But that's all I'm going to-"

"Nice to meet you, Elsyan." the strange guy interrupted. "It's now only proper to say my name after a lady." He paced around her. "The name's Sather Daskar, mate."

"I don't really care and I'm not your 'mate'. Now if you don't mind, those punks are gonna return in a minute with my scent or whatever caused them to find me and-"

"You running from them?"

"Well, duh!"

"Oh! And you need to hide?"

"Well, that hole isn't going to help."

"Yeah. Come with me." He started off down the path. She just stared at him. He looked back at her. "Well, c'mon!" he waved an arm and started off again. Elsyan sighed and walked slowly after him.

"Might as well. What do I have to lose?"

Sailing over both of them, Ken glanced down to see the main party that the lone Dark Elve had belonged too, a party of 14 or so heading twards the hill at a jogging speed, weapons drawn- They were hunting someone. His cloak flailed around him as one of the party glanced up suddenly, alerting the rest of the party to him. The bowmen in the group all took aim, as he drew his sword. Several arrows went off, singing through the air at a highspeed. Ken's eyes stared at them as he parryed each one off, each of the failed arrows falling lifelessly back down to the ground.

Glanceing down, he saw Alatariel. His arms rose, his cloak flailing around him in effect, and he sailed down onto the ground next to her. He landed with a soft sound, skidding a foot or so from the momentum. Sheathing his sword, he stood straight up, turning twards her. Gracefully, he bowed to her, a few beads of sweat dripping to the ground from his hair.

Ken: No time for formalities.. We have company.

Alatariel nodded and in a blink of an eye her sword came out. The hood of her cloak flew off and her long white hair blew in the wind. The dark elf closest to her saw the colour of her skin and sighed in relief.

Drow Soldier: Get that puny surface elf my lady! Slit his throat!

Alatariel frowned at the use of the foul drow language. It took her some time to decipher the words for she had been on the surface for about five year now and had almost forgotten the drow language. Too bad she didn't.
Before the drow even began to realize the mistake Alatariel's sword plunged through his evil heart. The drow gasped but was not surprised. Dark elves are usually cold hearted and didn't care about anything except for power. They would even kill their own brothers and sisters for it.
Alatariel turned to see a score of dark elves rushing in around her and Ken. She quickly pulled her sword from the dead drow and turned to face the others.

Elsyan followed after Sather warily, keeping her distance. It seemed kinda strange that just when about a score of Dark Elves was looking for her that he would appear. On top of all that, Sather didn't seem the least bit perturbed at all. He kept up his nonchalant attitude while he ran. Finally Elsyan couldn't stand his easygoing smile any longer.

Elsyan: "Just where are we going?"

Sather turned to look at her with a silly grin on his face.

Sather: "Where are you going?"

Elsyan: "Arh! This is useless! Here I am with an battalion of Dark Elves hunting me, and I'm following some heedless Sather who probably doesn't even realize the danger judging by his careless attitude!" Elsyan sighed. "Still, I wouldn't be much better off if I decided not to follow him."

Elsyan was thinking this when she heard Sather chuckle to himself.

Elsyan: "What's so funny this time?"

Sather: "Nothing." ^__^

Elsyan sighed again and slapped her hand to her forhead.

The first of the band came on cautiously not knowing what to do about the pair of them. Ken quickly cut him down. The other Drow, enraged by the thought of a surface elf killing even one of the dark elf, came on strong. Alatariel fought hard but it seemed that they drow would never relent.
Suddenly the drow stopped and looked at the bottom of the hill. Alatariel could make out two figures not far off and heading towards the hill at a fast pace.

As the sky slowly grew dark, Axel knew -that just by the odd shapes of clouds- trouble was brewing. He looked at his sword, laying parallel to him in the grass, smiled, then looked to the sky once more. While he watched the sun set, he heard a terrible, loud crash inside the forest to his left. He got up from the hill, hoping to get a view of what mde the peuliar sound. No, saw nothing. Then he heard it again, then again... two... no, three- four! Four more times he heard the crash, then-- a pause... Looking back at the sun, he regained the warm comfort, then it grew dim, closing in on night... Suddenly, another crash, which immediatley caught his attention once more. More noises came, the started to blend together, making a horrendous noise. The trees began to fall, clearing a path for a large creature. Axel, who was still a young lad, grew a little scared. A correct metaphor would compare his fear to the blackness of the sky. Then... he saw the accursed beast. It loked like a giant spider, but was too far to completely make out. His fear also distorted his sight.

Alatariel and her entourage neared the hill, they too saw the creature. Axel gripped his sword and charged down the hill, to greet his soon-to-be friends, and to fight the monster with them...

Alatariel saw the giant spider above the dark elves and swore in the drow tounge.

Alatariel: Great that's all we need a giant spider to add to the fun...

She heard heavy step behind her and assumed it was another dark elf coming from behind. Alatariel spun around to face the coming drow. She saw Axel and relaxed.

Axel: If that's the way you greet your comrades I'd hate to see how you greet your enemies.

Alatariel: I am truly sorry but I thought that you were another drow.

Axel: I really wouldn't worry about the drow right now.

Alatariel turned around again to see the giant spider move towards them at a fairly fast pace...

Silently Ken's head tilted to the side, eeriely, his hair shifting with it, covering his left eye. His right eye could be seen glanceing around them, as the odds slowly began to stack up against them, A small amount of sweat presperating from his forehead. Remaining ever true to his silence, he reached into his cloak slowly, nodding his head as he counted the drows that were running twards them. His silence broke, as he spoke in a mixed tongue of Entish and Elvish, a blue glow eminating from his eyes, piercing the morale of the chargeing Drows.

Ken: ... Charge the spider. The best defense is a good offense.

With that, his hand whipped out, several small objects moveing faster than your brain could register what they were- Shurikens. Each of them lodged themselves into the row of 5 Dark Elves that were coming, the same light blue hue eminating from their silver edges. Each Dark Elf began to turn to ash, moveing outwards from the Shuriken, their piercing screams radiating outwards from the wooded hill. Ken sprinted foreward, reaching downwards to the Shurikens, and charged the remaining drows with his sword drawn, as the spider let out a shriek of battle as it leapt upwards, its giant poisonous fangs aimed for Axel's arm..

Alatariel saw the spider lunge at Axel. She quickly finished off the dark elf that she had been fighting and ran to Axel's side.

Axel quickly dodged the first attack but was having a hard time dodging the others. The spider was so intend on him that it didn't notice Alatariel creaping up from behind.

She lifted up her sword and plunged it in the spiders back with all her might. The spider gave a roar and turned on her. Axel came back from the other side. He unshealthed his sword and when the spider reared up plunched it right in the spider's stomach.

The spider shuttered and fell to the ground quite dead. Alatariel wiped the spider's blood from her sword on the ground and walked up to Axel.

Alatariel: I thank you Axel. If you hadn't come I surely would have died.

Axel: Your welcome.

Ken: No time for formalities now! There is more trouble on the way.
