Sniglefager
yes, very weird. I renamed my Bahumet Snigle. (Gee, wonder where I got that from?) I named Tidus Bobber. I wanted to name him Bobalucha, but you know, not enough spaces
GinnyLyn
The first time around, I called Valefor "Needle" (if anyone remembers the Conan animated series, they'll know why and kudos to you if you do). I'm pretty sure I changed Ixion's name up too...but to what...? What I found most interesting about FFX (naming wise) was that I hardly noticely the lack of anyone referring to Tidus by name. It just never seemed to come up. Tidus was a fifth wheel to the party, and most of them referred to him as "Boy" or "Guardian", etc. The only time it really bothered me was when Yuna was talking to him. Then it was "you", "you", "you" all the time. Drove me nuts.
Mitch
I think we all tend to keep the same names. But it does add replay value... Especially those awkward moments you can get from naming characters silly things...
I should really start a new game on 7 or 6 and rename them all Otakuboards members and then talk to those select Otakuboards members like they are the actual character and then confuse myself and everyone and all...
Dan L
heh.. I was feeling really silly when I first played FF7.. so I kind of gave them odd names: Cloud: Dan Actually, that one's my name, and not that odd Barret: Idiot What can I say?.. from the start it just seemed that he didn't like me, so my revenge was swift.. Tifa: Mrs X I have no idea why.. my brother thought it was a good idea Aeris: I forget exactly.. but I didn't call her Aeris Red XII: Fluffy ...You'd probably be better not asking Cait Sith: Cait Wow.. big change.. he lost a name *reeks of originality* Cid: Bob Yeah... heh.. I think Yuffie kept her name, and I never got anyone else past that (I kind of didn't play it after a while, cos I got FF7, 8, and 9 in a short time, without finishing either one.. heh) But the problem I had was that when people on here talk about the storyline, they always use the original names, so I got very confused, and the second time I used the original names
Ninjaman
When I was little I would almost always change the characters' names, I wish I could remember what some of them were. I do remember I changed some of FF9 characters' names. Vivi- Rob (me, I thought Vivi was really cool and I like Black Mages) Quina- QuQu(it just seemed to fit) But you should what my older brother called his characters in FF4. Cecil-Buti (it would be like "But-I gained a level") Edge-Milky(dunno why) Kain- Traito(would've Traitor, but it didn't fit) He still has the file, so I'll go look later to find the rest. In FF6 I replayed the game 2 more times to name the characters after people I know. The first time(I was Mog), my 8th grade class, and the second(Now I'm Sabin, heh) was after my high school friends this year. In the first one, most of friends matched with the characters in either personality or appearance.
Bremma
I only really do it to remove caps. The only name I have redone is EDGAR to Zechs. Sounds more ladies man-ish to me than Edgar.

If the game still spoke his name, but referred to him as say "Macaroni" in the menus and text... It'd get confusing. I think that's rather understandable heh.
Until I actually got the game and realised they never spoke his name, I thought maybe that you put a file name in (ie. your name) and all the character names were set, i.e. Tidus is always called Tidus.. but obviously that wasn't the case..
