Yeah, I got it today. God damn it's awesome. My favourite song on it would probably be "Set It Off" It's good to see that Tom Morello is still playing very RATM-like riffs. But due to Chris Cornell, it alomst sounds like some of soundgarden's stuff, no problem there. I really hope they stay together long enough to tour here. I really want to see them. I strongly suggest listenin to some of their stuff.
God damn it's awesome.
i told you it was.

i really liked "set it off", too, even though it got really crappy reviews. (it was said to sound like some trashy 80's metal song.)

i especially like "shadow on the sun" and "i am the highway". i guess its because they sound a little more (ok, a lot more) soundgarden than rage. i love both bands. i just love soundgarden more.

I've only heard "Cocise" by Audio Slave and thought it was ok, but I havent heard any of there other stuff.
I never liked Rage Against The Machine, but from what I've heard of Audio Slave already, I think they're way better, I'll probably download some of their songs before I go out and buy their Album.

I have just heard cocise and i can't stand it.
I never liked rage either so it shouldn't shock me.
just annoying they were......just annoying......all of rages songs sounded alike.
that wouldn't be so bad except the sound sucked. You could tell a rage song in like 2 seconds.
But anyway back to audioslave, i want to hear more, it wouldn't be the first time i like a band but hate their first release off their new cd.

I love Rage, and I think Audioslave are great, but I miss one thing....the lyrics. Rage lyrics were very political and controversial, but these are more mellow, and to do with less serious issues. I must say, I prefer Rage to Audioslave. That don't stop them rocking though!

Yeh, the way Zak De La Rocha (Rage vocalist) make all of those problems fit into a poem was superb. Audioslave lyrics are still good, but I think with Cornell being the frontman, that's his positive input into all their records, becuase if it was exactly the same as Soundgarden, why not be called Soundgarden 2, or if it was exactly the same as Rage, why not Rage 2?

Has you seen the Cochise video? That's pretty kicking. Loads of fireworks and stuff. I bet it cost loads to make. Did oyu hear that were it was filmed, in some small village, they thought it was a terrorist attack, I found that really funny!

Its good, because they sound like exactly what Soundgarden and Rage would sound like if the two bands joined. Despite them only having the singer from Soundgarden, its suprising how much some of their stuff you could get confused with Soundgarden... But the Audioslave cd makes me hate Tom Morello, a man with way too much guitar talent.

Tom Morello is a guitar genius...and a Harvard graduate (law, i believe). his approach to the guitar is so different. he makes so many new sounds and noises with his instrument and is a very inventive player. i am always impressed by his talent. i often find my self trying to figure out how he made a sound and trying to reproduce it.

Yeah, trenton, you and every other guitar player, (including myself)
Morello is so damn good on the album. I think he experiments a bit more with new sounds on the Audioslave cd. I could however be mistaken, not being a giant fan of Rage, they were good, and I really like a few of their songs, but I dont own any of their cds.

lol! man, you kill me. its treton. T-R-E-T-O-N. not trenton. only one "n". lol man, that is hilarious. "treton" is french for "newt" (and the the "noir" makes it "black newt")

anyway. one track from "audioslave" always stands out. its the solo, of course, that really hooked me though. its "shadow on the sun". this song is amazing from start to finish. the vocals. the riffs. incredible. the part where tom goes into the solo. its @ 2:31. he goes note, echoed pick scrape, note, scrape, etc., then when he puts on the phaser pedal (or whatever it is) and starts soloing...
the first time i heard it i was like, " [whispery voice] sweet God in Heaven... [/whispery voice]" it completely blew me away. just amazing.

btw what kind of equipment do you have? ive noticed a lot of people who have instruments and such, claim to play, but have crappy stuff. it makes me happy to see people who have well made instruments, take of them, and play them well (im not saying money=talent, so dont act like i did).

AHAHAH!! Sorry about that, I think I just called you trenton in another post too... Sorry

I've just got an Epiphone SG, covered in stickers. I love my guitar, and we played at my freinds party. Her dad was freaked out as he walked up behind me and I was licking it... Yeah, I've also got a dodgy cheap 30watt Soundking amp.
I am also in the possession of a Casino acoustic\electric. Any my most prized piece on instrumentality, (along with my electric) Is my Mapex drumkit. I have had it for a few months now and the snare and first tom already need new skins... Oh well. Whats about you?

Damn thats some nice equipment...
Yeah I got my first "gig" at this coffee lounge in about a month. Well me and a freind of mine. We're gonna play some smashing pumpkins, coldplay, radiohead, foo fighters, a bit of everything really. Nothing too rocky though, it's a bit hard to do it acousticly, but hey. It should be good.

[b]I haven't really heard much of Audioslave except for "Coshise," but I'm greatly impressed nonetheless. Am I alone in hearing real similarities to AC/DC? Maybe it's just me, but wow, they sound alike. Heh, their video for "Cochise" was especially good in the beginning, they way it was all dramatic as the members from Rage got to Chris Cornell. Yeah... makes me wanna get their CD...

Hmmm...nobody ever made a thread about "Out of Exile"? Well I guess its a good thng this one got resurrected.

I agree with what you say, Audioslave's newest album isn't as loud and rockin' as their first one, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
While it does have a few weak songs, most of them are really good, my favorites being:
Your Time Has Come
Man or Animal
Yesterday to Tomorrow
and Dandelion

All in all its a good CD, if you like their type of music, but I still don't think its better than their debut album.....but thats just me. :D

I think Audioslave have had quite a hard time with people saying "oh they're just like Rage with Soundgarden as vocals" so I commend them for being so not like that. I admit, there are a few songs of theirs that have similar riffs to Rage songs, but the way they are going, it sounds as if they have made their own sound now; their second album moreso than the first.

On their most recent tour Audioslave have started to play songs from each of the members old bands, I want to see them live now for sure! However, I really can't imagine Cornell rapping along to something like Killing In The Name, it'd almost be a joke I'd say!!

Out Of Exile is a great album, really good stuff on there, the title track is my favourite, Cornell's lyrics are pretty easy to relate to on that - and others besides, like Dandelion and Doesn't Remind Me. The live version of Like A Stone is pretty cool too.

I do miss Zack though. All I've heard since Rage broke was that March Of Death song he did with DJ Shadow, and there were rumours of him going solo, don't know if anyone could confirm it for me..

But as for Audioslave, I give a thumbs up.
