AnimeAddict
I have owned a Playstation One for the past 4 years and frankly...I'm getting sick of it. It hardly even runs, no good NEW games are coming out, etc... So I'm asking your opinion on whether I should get a PS2. Is it worth the outrageous price I've seen in some stores? Actually how good are the graphics? :p
RicoTranzrig
Well, it's not as expensive as it was a while back. Normally, it plays all your old PSX games and the laser pick-up is better than the old PS models for sure. I can actually play my old FF 7 discs now. Graphics can vary a lot depending on how well the game was made. Some games are really good (GT3, MGS2), run at high speed and all. Others can look like PSone games so you might want to avoid the ones that look like they didn't put a lot of time into them.
BigCajones
Well really it depends what you are looking for in a console. If your looking for the console with best graphics I would go for X-Box (even though the other consoles still do a great job), if you are looking for a vast variety of games I would go for the PS2 at the moment and if you want simply classic games go for the Gamecube. What do you want in your console and what type of games are you looking for? Grant :demon:
Kent
PS2 is with no doubt a great system. Totally worth the 200 dollars, but dont pay any more than that. Its 199.99 every where. As for the game play and graphics... I believe the graphics of the ps2 are great. I do however believe that in about 3 years game development will be at a new level, which will allow systems like the game cube and the xbox to take advantage of their amazing processing power. However, it is important to think about the overall. I believe sony is the way to go based on the fact that the graphics are good on any standard, and the game selection and variety is far wider than the other systems. Lots of games and up to date graphics make for a winner in my book.

Charles
The graphics should not be an issue when choosing a next generation system. On paper, the Xbox is the most powerful out of the three, overall. But, I haven't seen many Xbox games that utilize the console's power. All three consoles are fairly even in terms of visuals. In any case, I suggest reading the "Console War" thread, which can be found Here. It should give you a nice overview of each system. I suggest researching the software available on the current consoles and seeing which is suitable to your tastes. The prices aren't as high as they once were at this point and you should be able to find cheap games for not only the Playstation 2, but Xbox and GameCube as well.
