Recently I started downloading some Street Fighter 2v episodes. The first episode seemed kinda stupid, and cheesey to me. But I pushed on, because I love street fighter. It only got better from there. By the ninth episode it was one of my favorites. It's great for Street Fighter fans, speaking of that. Anyone around here watch the Street Fighter anime?

As you've said it's a pretty good anime, that is a nice intro to the Street Fighter Alpha movie. The series starts out a bit akward and around the 10th or as you said 9th episode the series really starts to progress introducing M. Bison for the first time, and also explaining and showing how Ken and Ryu learn the Hadoken.

Pretty good anime, once you get over some of the flaws it has it's rather enjoyable. ;)

I have all four DVDs released by Manga. I really like the series. Sure, it isn't one of the best anime out there, but it's good enough to keep fans of the video game series hooked.

It also has 29 episodes, 3 more than the usual 26, which is something I was surprised about.

I used to watch the show that came on the USA Action Extreme Team back in the DAY. I have a few episodes recorded. It wasn't THAT bad... >.>;;

I also saw the movie. The ANIMATED movie and the Theatrical movie that wasn't THAT bad, either. Better than Mortal Kombat, I'll say... I HATE Mortal Kombat. Can't even spell "Combat" right... Grr..

*Hits Cyke's soft spot*

Mortal Kombat is the BEST video game movie out there, Asuka. It was true to the game, and it carried the story nicely. Linden Ashby completely stole the role of Johnny Cage. On the other hand, Street Fighter was horrible. The fact that they focused the storyline on Guile and not Ryu and Ken was detrimental to the quality of the movie. Ryu and Ken were even given the role of comedic relief. If I ever see the director or producer of that film, I will punch them. Well, not really... Plus, how can Jean Claude Van Damme play an all-American soldier?

At least Bison was decent.

P.S. The animated movie DID rule, though; yet Alpha was disappointing.

i own street fighter alpha animated movie, street fighter 2 animated movie, and all the episodes of street fighter 2v animated series. I really hated the street fighter movie starring Jean Claude Van Damme since the story was out of place. I own a few street fighter videogames too. street fighter 2v is a great series, I really liked the last few episodes. I've seen all the street fighter television episodes on USA too. The series on USA is different from street fighter 2v incase some of you people get confused. I loved both series though, and if anyone is interested in selling me fansubs of the tv series(no matter how many episodes you own) I'll buy them. I'll buy the recorded tapes you have or you can record onto another tape for me

My condolences.

I used to watch that show when I was little every Saturday morning, before wrestling came on. That show was CRAP, and had the same mistake from the movie = Guile as the main character. Add choppy animation and awkward artwork, and you got yourself American-made crap.

Yeah, I always wondered why Guile was the mian character and not Ken and Ryu. And I used to watch that show when I was little, too! Like I said earlier, I recorded a couple of episodes.

What I did like about the animated show was that Cammy was on there, and she was REALLY cute. I love Cammy. ^_^

And sorry to hit your soft spot about Mortal Kombat. I know a few people who actually share your opinion, so it's no biggie. ^_^

Guile was main character of the television series? No he wasn't. The animation was great, and Akuma, Sakura, Guy, and other characters were in it too so that's pretty cool. Why would u say Guile is main character and not Ryu and Ken? I don't believe u, I've seen the series on USA channel before and it mostly showed Ryu and Ken. I've only seen guile in one episode, the one where Cammy gets brain washed. It wasn't american crap, and the subject of this topic is "Street Fighter 2v", like I said, these 2 series are different. So why? why would u make fun of a different series and not even contribute to the the topic?

*Cracks knuckles* I thought I'd never get into an argument here. Luckily, I was wrong. ^_^

First of all, you seem to be confusing the many shows and movies that have come out for the franchise. Guile was the main character in the American Street Fighter series. He's even the guy that appears in the center of the screen, taking up all the space in the opening sequence. Ryu and Ken appeared rarely. Don't believe me? If you have Cartoon Network MEXICO, watch the show there. It shows both Street Fighter II (American crap) and Street Fighter V II. You will quickly notice that the main character is Guile, who's the leader of a group called "Street Fighter," where he has several 'members' under his command, like Cammy. Ken and Ryu are secondary characters there that Guile only looks for when needed. The whole show is basically this "Street Fighter" group, led by Guile, fighting the Shadowlaw group, led by Bison.

Secondly, YOU were the one that who brought the USA television series to light, and I simply stated my dislike for it. However, I wasn't "making fun" of the series, but I was critiquing. The show had poor artwork and animation, and the story did not follow the video games.

i think yur talking about a different series or something, I know I've seen the series on USA where it shows ken and ryu a lot, like when they got into a fighter and ryu did a hurricane kick on ken and ken had to go to the hospital. like when ryu and ken fought akuma. like when ryu and sakura met and they talked about ryu fighting sagat. like when Guy made his first appearence and showed his hatred to Ken. Like when ken fought against the grenade throwing bastard. I remember it all, and the series i've seen on USA is called Street Fighter 2 not Street Fighter, so you still posted off topic. There was nothing wrong with the animation and the story was based on the games, I own many street fighter games so i should know. like when it talks about sagat fighting ryu, and when akuma killed ryu and ken's master.

Edit: And I didn't bring anything to light or however you want to put it wise guy. Queen Asuka, the moderator said that she saw the one on USA channel. I just contributed to her post and didn't critisize anything.

how annoying

The show WAS called Street Fighter II, and it was shown on the USA channel. You say that the show Asuka was referring to was about Ken and Ryu, when in fact the main character was Guile. She said it herself, and I agree with her because I saw the show in USA every Saturday as well, right before (or after) wrestling. Sure, there were times Ken and Ryu were important players in the series, like when Akuma showed up AGAINST Bison, but they were not the main characters.

And it DOES sound like you are mixing the series and movies; it gets very confusing. Also, what is your problem with my criticizing the show? If I have an opinion about it, whether positive or negative, and I feel like speaking my mind, I will.

Lastly... kindly use paragraphs. They are your friends.

EDIT: Here's a link that may give you a clear head about the situation. In fact, I'll look for other links that explicitly state that Guile is the main character.

Oh, Mighty one! May I ask you... where are Ryu and Ken there? Being main characters, they should show up in every episode, don't ya think?

huh? so what if guy was in street fighter alpha? he was also in Street Fighter 2 series.. maybe Asuka was talkin about the movie with Guile being the main character.

I'm stopping this arguement, you can say whatever you want

Hahahaha, that's great.

I hand in proof of the series that back up what I say, and you back down? Why? This is nothing more than a friendly debate about a series.

And yes, after checking, Alpha had already been released, but I'm still right about the show sucking, and about who the main character is, which is the whole point of this discussion.

ALRIGHT you two. This is not an arguement thread. You can take it to the Sparring Arena and argue as much as you like.

I know that I was talking about the AMERICAN version that came on USA. And like Cyke said, Guile was the main character. But I'm not going to take sides, but both of you have made good points. This IS a Street Fighter thread and so therefore, other aspects of the franchise will come up in any sort of discussion.

Sorry.

I just tend to fight fire with fire in these types of arguments. In other words, if someone replies to be offensively, I tend to reply with the same attitude.

One thing, though, since I did not read anything about it in the rules: Can't we disagree with something someone else says here? Must all disagreements, about any topic, be taken to the "Sparring Arena"?

Heh, don't take things so seriously. ^_^ You don't REALLY have to take things to the Sparring Arena, it just seems like if you're going to start a fight, that'd be the place to do it. Now, let's get back on topic.

Ok, don't worry about it. :) I wasn't planning on starting a fight that WASN'T about Street Fighter, but anyway...

The one in my sign is Akuma. That's a screen cap from the Street Fighter Alpha movie. I was upset at the fact that the movie showed Akuma scarcely, and I'm sure fans wanted to see the movie BECAUSE of Akuma. The movie was good, but I'm sure Alpha fans, like myself, were disappointed in some way.

I believe you're the one that said, "*Cracks knuckles* I thought I'd never get into an argument here. Luckily, I was wrong. ^_^". You call that not trying to get in a fight?

Street Fighter Alpha is still off topic

But I agree, Everyone including myself bought the movie because of Akuma

No, I call that wanting to debate. There's no fun in always agreeing, you know? Furthermore, you stopped to discuss in the middle of the argument, so I suggest you keep your promise, unless you want to prove that I was wrong about the USA TV series, which you have yet to do. Also, yeah... the thread was about the Japanese series, but there's no wrong in discussing something that heavily relates to the topic, like the Street Fighter movie. It also helps to compare which production was better and more successful in portraying the popular game series.

Anyway... I like Akuma because he's the ultimate fighter. No one can be stronger than him, because anyone who wants his power must become completely evil. That's the theme the Alpha movie explores, which is surprisingly good. Ryu has the ABILITY to be the ultimate fighter, but he'd have to become one like Akuma. The movie gives you the idea that Ryu overcomes that obstacle, but I doubt he got as strong as Akuma in the end.

On a sidenote, did you catch any of Akuma's strange appearances in the V II series? Hahaha, those were funny.

of course! someone has to be stupid not to, Once he just covers most of the screen buying groceries. I saw him like around 9 times throughout the series. LOL, sucks that he didn't play any important rolls

edit: when i first used akuma(gouki) in the video games, I liked his moves and specials, like the "Raging Demon"(Shun Gouku Satsu). And I like how he can do the shadow dash stuff and the shadow kick he does in the air. And true, he is the most powerful, but of course, girls like you wouldn't understand. Other than akuma, I especially like Chun Li for her fighting, and Ken for his jokes

edit :) :don't remember making any promises

I just began getting into anime and I acquired both the Street Fighter 2: The Animated Movie and Street Fighter Alpha the Movie. I have not quite finished downloading the original 2v series but episodes 1-10 have me completely hooked. Please get back to me on opinions on any aspect of Street Fighter.
