After a long time of waiting, Sonic Team finally revealed proof that they are indeed updating Sonic Adventure. The game now looks miles beyond Sonic Adventure 2. They also promise stuff like multiplayer, a better Chao sistem and 2 new characters.

I saw these the other day... However, I've yet to see anywhere that claimed Sega announced any features of this game. A better Chao system and maybe some bug fixes (especially camera tweaking) is somewhat expected, but I'm not really believing this two new character thing at all. Especially considering the Japanese site (http://www.sega.jp/ngc/sonicdx/) says there are 6 to choose from. That's the same as the original.

The only thing the Japanese site mentions (which still has the most info on it) is that the characters will be upgraded and that their expressions will be more prominant (whatever that means, could just mean better graphics). Judging from these screens, the character models do seem somewhat improved (maybe, lol).

The screens look perfect, no glitches or sketchy outlines there! Though, haven't Microsoft bought Sega out, or some of the titles, and if so, is this game being released on both GCN and Xbox? I liked Sonic Adventure Two, a very impressive product,so I hope this game is as good!

MS hasn't bought Sega out... Sega itself is made up of many different teams. Sonic Team, AM2, Amusement Vision, Hitmaker, Smilebit and so on. They're all basically allowed to do pretty much whatever it is they want. Some of the teams focus on one system more than another. Sonic Team kind of leans towards GameCube (except for PSO and so on), Smilebit to Xbox, AM2 is somewhat equal if you count everything (stuff still in development).

Really, GC and Xbox have an about equal amount of games from Sega.

There are rumors of the next (new) Sonic game going multiplatform, but to two systems... not all three. GC is always one in the rumor, and the other system changes. We'll see what happens... But it'd be pretty odd to put basically every Sonic game so far on GC and not put the new on it as well.

so, they're finally remaking this one, eh? You know how long I've been waiting for this?! When my friend first got a Dreamcast, this was the first game he got. I remember, we played this game for hours. To me, it's definetly the best Dreamcast game. It's the only game that made me want to get a Dreamcast, in fact. I'm so happy they're making it for Game Cube now. I mean, they should've done this one in the first place. This game was better way better than 2 if you ask me. Also, once this game comes out, GC owners will have almost all the main Sonic games. I'm still waiting for a Sonic CD remake, though

*looks at screen shots* ...Yes! Tails isn't in some crappy mech-like thing! Booyah! :toothy:

From what I've heard, Sonic Adventure is a great game, so I'll probably end up getting this remake. One thing that could keep me from buying it, though, would be if the controls are as twitchy and jumpy as Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. For a platformer, and especially a fast paced platformer, you need good play control, and I really don't think SA2B's play control was good enough.

I don't think the first game was better than the second in terms of the Sonic/Shadow levels. But all the other stuff sucked. The shooting and puzzle levels in SA2 were absolutely horrible.

Having said that, I don't know why Sonic Team is producing SADX. Why not just move straight to SA3? I'm sure they are working on SA3...but SA:DX seems a waste of time to me.

Of course, for those who never owned the first game (and only the sequel on GCN), it's probably an essential purchase.

yeah, I suppose you're right, but they are gonna need time to make SA3, so why not tide us over until then? And yes, the Sonic and Shadow levels are better, but I like it because it's more adventurish, if you get what I'm saying. Plus, if you only wanted to play as a certain charecter, you only had to play as them. Plus, Tails wasn't in that god awful machine. Since I don't want to start an argument over which of these 2 is better, I'll end this post by saying: Sonic Adventure 1 is better than 2 in my opinion

I always figured the reasoning was to get Nintendo fans used to Sonic and ready for the next Sonic. I believe it's already been stated that the next game in the series will not have Adventure in the title... could mean some big changes. Then again... maybe not.

I preferred the original only because the first few levels as Sonic really seemed to be going in the right direction. They seemed like Sonic in 3D. Of course, Knuckles, Big and Amy killed this (I liked the Robot levels). The lame "adventure" didn't exactly help either.

Sonic Adventure 2 was decent. Still a rather big letdown, as even more of the levels sucked badly.

Still... The games aren't that bad, and I'm sure they'll interest a good deal of people. SAB2 sold like crazy.

HEY, HEY, HEY! I think were forgetting something. STORYLINE!!! Even though the controls were kind of crappy, the story kept it rollin'. Don't get me wrong, I loved SA1, any Sonic game is just awesome(even the genesis games:D), it's just the brilliance in the storyline that set SA2 apart from SA1.
.....
........
The thing that I don't get is why do SA1 and SA2 take place on earth and the old genesis game take place on...That...Other...Planet OH WHAT WAS IT CALLED AGAIN!?!

:help:

Eh, who really cares about storyline? The stories in SA/SA2 were about the most pointless I've ever heard and they didn't really gel with past storylines in the series.

In terms of story, Sonic CD was the best. It has by far the most amazing presentation (the intro and ending sequences have never been beaten by any other video game, in my view).

Still, SA2 did a lot of things right that SA didn't...however, it destroyed any hope of being better overall due to the horrible robot and puzzle levels. I am not saying that SA2 was better overall; I'm just saying that Sonic/Shadows's levels were generally as good or better. But overall, the game was worse. There are hardly ANY Sonic/Shadow levels in SA2 and there are heaps of pointless robot/puzzle levels. I wish Sonic Team would get its act together.

maybe they will in the new Sonic. But if not, you can always depend on Sonic Advance 2. I've seen a video on that game, and it looks great. And finally someone else agrees that the Sonic CD intro and ending movies were awesome. I remember when I first beat the game, I was just shocked at how cool it was. Of course, that was a long time ago, and I got rid of my Sega CD and Genesis. But, I can watch either of those on Sonic Mega Collection, which was an awesome add on. Still, I understand Mega Collection was supposed to be a compilation of the Genesis Sonic games, but why couldn't they have put in CD?! I mean, they put Ristar in there, but not CD. Did Sonic Team even make Ristar?

My single biggest regret when it comes to games is selling my Mega CD. I have never done anything more regrettable in my entire life. lol

Sonic CD is just magic on a CD-ROM. It's incredible. EVERY Sonic fan should play it. Sonic & Knuckles comes in a close second. But still, Sonic CD is just a masterpiece...I think that Sonic Team have never bettered themselves there.

I'm really hoping that the next actual Sonic "sequel" doesn't include all of the shoddy adventure aspects; it should be a 3D action game in the exact same vein as the originals. Some of those levels would have looked SO great in 3D...which is why both SA and SA2 disappointed me somewhat, as a hardcore Sonic fan. It was a shame that both games never really captured the essence of the series. SA did a bit better than SA2 though, in general terms.

Isn't it Sonic Adventure where you unlock that? o_O

Anyway, I don't know if I really want to get the game on PC...I don't have a gamepad or anything. If I see it out there though, I might just pick it up. It's a fantastic game. I miss it.

Hey I got it for PC too. It was a collection of Sonic CD, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, and Sonc R at Office Max for 2 dollars. Man was I lucky because it was marked for 14 dollars. So if you could find one of those in Office Max they'll probably sell it as cheap as dirt.

Many companies use ports to give their newer programmers more experience, which is a pretty smart move.

That, and Sonic Adventure DX is probably going to sell like crazy after the success of Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. I mean, there are probably tons of people out there that never really played Sonic games because they only had Nintendo systems, and now they're finally getting Sonic games and realizing that they're pretty dang good. I'm one of those people, and I'd take a port of one of the older Dreamcast games any day, since I never got to play the original.

It really does make a lot of sense to release some remakes of the older Sonic games, now that they're releasing games on other consoles. It's cheaper than making a new game, yet there are still lots of people who are going to buy it because they never got to play it before.

Hehe, I bought a Sega CD about a year ago just for Sonic CD. I always wanted that game when I was young, but couldn't afford a Sega CD back then, lol.

Anyway, I'm not too impressed with the screens. The specular lighting looks a little improved, but I don't notice any significant enhancements. It's mainly the game's flawed design that I disliked anyway.

I prefer the first Sonic Adventure because the sequel downplayed Sonic. I've always liked Sonic games because of the exhilarating sensation of speed and the ability to pull off crazy twists and loops/corkscrews. The first Sonic Adventure retains some of that to an extent, whereas Adventure 2 almost completely discarded it.

So, some of you who purchased and were disappointed with Sonic Adventure 2 on GameCube might find a little enjoyment here. Overall, I found Sonic Adventure to be a little shallow though.

On the bright side, it's amazing that Nintendo's console is able to handle these ports without Sega's fabled blast processor chip powering it. You should all feel very privileged.

I seen them earlier too, ain't gonna buy it though. I have the original DC version and I'm fine with that. I was disappointed with SA2. Like James said the levels were better than SA but there wasn't enough. Especially with the 'Dark Side' stages. I wanted to use Shadow since he was just a evil version of Sonic but you ended up playing with Robotnik more than him and Rouge in second.

The best Sonic game I played was Sonic 3 with the Sonic & Knuckles expansion. It ruled for me and so did Sonic 2. As for Sonic CD. Thats the only Sonic game I never had the grace to play. :( I heard alot about it and everytime I hear more about it, the more I want to play it. My Sega Genesis no longer works and finding both the Sega CD and Sonic CD is like winning the lotto in New York. I can just hope someone creates an Emulator for it like what they do with SNES games.
