He had a huge bruise in his forehead, and a very angry expression on his face. He stood in the middle of the group, and glared suspiciously at them all. Charlie- OKAY, WHO KICKED ME WHEN I WAS COMING OUT OF THE WATER? It's a miracle I didn't die frozen in it! *Calms down when he notices the Phoenix* Cool! A Hot Ckicken! There was a cracking sound and then it closed, frozen over by the ice. Apparently the group had to complete their objective before it would open again. Then the stone shined a very dark purple and Bozels voice whispered out for a brief moment. [COLOR=indigo]"Pop Quiz #1."[/COLOR] The stone flew up very high into the sky and stayed there. The ground suddenly began shaking and an odd creature popped its head over a nearby mountain. It was about half as tall as an average human and lightly resembled a rhinocerous. However this thing had a fox tail, no horn, a very big set of nice sharp teeth and its skin was slightly wet. It let out an odd roar when it noticed the group and about four or five dozen others exactly like it showed up. They suddenly began charging down the mountain and towards the group at a blinding pace. One could think they were trying to say hello, though they were licking their lips and seemed quite hungry... One in particular looked very nervous, as he gave a few steps behind the others. Charlie had already seen those beasts in books, so he quietly told Karina. [i]Obediently everyone did just that - however nobody seemed to scatter in the same direction, making two small clusters of students and staff, and the creatures didn't pay any heed to this "obstacle", simply splitting into two half-sized groups.[/i] [b]Charlie:[/b] And he calls this a "Pop Quiz"?! [i]Desperately Fli looked about. What now? What the heck were they supposed to do now? The beasts continued to bear down on them, closer and closer, only a few hundred yards away by now. What to do... What to... Without thinking, Fli lunged towards the front of his group and threw his hands up in an arc, summoning the ice underfoot into a dome around his cluster of students. He held his hands outstretched for a few moments like a madman searching for God, his eyes painfully bright against his accomplishment. Then, he sank to his knees, pulling in frosty air with was burning down his throat with a raw force. The dome he had created wasn't thick enough to hold the beasts off for long... Psycho Posted January 27, 2003 Share Posted January 27, 2003 Ace noticed that the group that he wasn't with had an ice dome around them. Ace: Hey, NO FAIR!!! I gotta do something! But... I'M TOO SCARED!! Ace suddenly had a flashback of his parents lying in bed, scared. Ace got a burst of courage and drew his gun, Boom-Boom. He held on to it with both hands and held down the trigger at the back of it. Boom-Boom started to charge up, but draining Ace's lifeforce with it. Two bolts of electricity shot out of the gun and hit Ace's temples. They stayed there until Ace released the trigger in the back and the bolts disseapered. The gun clicked and glowed. Ace pressed the actual firing trigger. A huge blue energy sphere shot out of the gun and flew through the air, slowing down time wherever it passed for a split second. The sphere landed in the middle of the cluster of creatures and sent them flying in all directions. One of them appeared stunned. Ace: YES!!! Success!! He realized he couldnt let them down just like he couldnt let his father down.... So in that split moment his stone started to glow very bright, He felt some power deep within the stone... He grasped it tightly, And Yelled out "Not This Time, Not Ever!!!"...His muscles started to bulge [/I] Mischief: GGGGGGRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! [I]Mischief Heated up his fire power and burst into a Human Flame, And crashed through the top of the dome in a powerful rage[/I] Mischief: My turn now!... The rest of you go find cover, These beasts are mine:flaming: [I]Pushes Ace aside[/I] [I]Mischief charges at the beasts as if they were targets... They are targets and its time to get a bullseye... Mischief throws out his hand and fires a huge blast of fire at one beast, and totaly insinerates it... Mischief then targets the other beast, and charges it... But Then he fell to the ground due too using to much power...There he was powerless and face to face with the other beast, Then thinking "Sorry guys..Dad..Ive failed you... The fire bird soared above her as she pointed at the monsterosity Hielo understood and breathed a fire stream at the beast distracting it long enough for Karina to get in there and pick Mischief up. It was time for her to get him out of the line of fire.[/i] Karina: What were you thinking you moron?! Hielo! Take care of it! Ive gotta get the kid back to the dome! [i]Hielo nodded and shot another fire stream at the beast setting its fox tail on fire. Karina looked at the ice dome in slight surprise, whomever had conjured that had done a good job of it. Karina put Mischief down on the back side of the dome, the side that faced AWAY from the monsters. She turned and ran back to assist her Phoenix, who was now losing terribly.[/i] Karina: Hey! Ugly! yes you! The rhino! Why have fried chicken when you know you want a taste of me? [i]The beast roared and charged at her.[/i] Karina: Just as I thought.... well you asked for it! [i]Karina raised her hands in front of her and waited for a few moments as her hands began to glow a pale blue, then ice seemed to form on her bare hands. Just as the beast nearly had her she sidestepped and whammed her hands down onto the creatures hide. "Ok...what did I miss?" The group looked at her as she pulled her laptop case out of the water, "What happened to you?" Katrina asked, as Avalon took off her goggles. Avalon sighed, "It's a long story...let's just say that it had to do with foggy goggles, a missing laptop, and a stubborn little stone." still looking at the ice block, she cocked her head in question. Walnut Posted January 28, 2003 Share Posted January 28, 2003 Kinga watched with a silent horror as ice, explosions (ooc: Castors anyone? hehe)and fire go flying all around. Fli stumbles and Kinga places her head just under his back. He falls lightly down and remains unmoving. Kinga: You-sa stay there. No one hurt me-sa friends and pack memebers With a sudden and rather unexpected growl Kinga launched herself out of the ice dome (ooc:sorry Baka couldn't be helped^_^) and charged headlong towards the nearest beast. One of the beasts, a particulary large one for it's species turned and watched as a rampaging blue thing came towards it. With a bone crunching crack, Kinga leaped upon the beast and drove her long, sharp white teeth into its supposed neck. It wailed in angony and tried to throw Kinga off, but Kinga locked tightly onto it and wouldn't let go. It stopped moving and gullered to its untimely death. Kinga slowly released it and tasted the small amont of flesh she had taken with her (ooc: What! She's an animal, so sue me) and decied that it was rather chicken like in taste. Two more came at her and with an slightly evil grin she lunged once again at the two of them. The first one recieved a sweeping scratch from her large and heavey paw while the other was treated to an instant neck breaking move, but she misjudged it and landed heavily on her side. The creature slashed her across her back and she roared out in pain. Kinga: Right, no more miss nice Blue Tiger Suddenly she seemed to grow in size and jumped up and ripped the creature apart with her claws. She turned to the other creature and was normal size, she bounded over determind to help out the teacher and the student. These creatures were a bit thick-headed in her opinion and if they didn't back off quite soon then she would really flip and personally she didn't want to do that. He cast a small healing spell to heal Mischief. A few seconds later, Mischief was awake, and getting up. Charlie- Guess they aren't as indestructible as the books say...But I wonder what Bozel meant by "Pop Quiz". Maybe...HOLY! In that second, Charlie remembered his Orientation. He remembered how Bozel loved to push newbies to the limit, even if it was dangerous. Also, his tests weren't always obvious. He stared to the mountain and zoomed his vision. At the top, he saw a small glow. As interesting at it seemed, it was another thing that caught his eyes: Another pack of beasts, waiting for the first pack to be killed. And behind them another pack. She stared at them from behind the barrier when she caught movement far away. Her keen elven-sight strained to see what it was, and soon she saw a small light near several large things. Mischief relized that a red raven symbol has formed on his hand, it was wierd becouse it wasnt there before... Altough Mischief was unaware that this symbol means the power within the stone has been tranfered into him... Mischief smiles then he stands up, and he noticed a group of beast grow ever near.[/I] Mischief: Hey, everyone we have to work as a team otherwise we may not survive. "These are smoke bombs-pull the string on the sacks and throw them at the beasts. This will give us some time to get into place." she looked at them carefully. "I say that we split them up into groups...this will give us an advantage over them...hopefully." she sighed, hoping that her strategy would work. He tried to throw a smoke bomb at it, but it was charging too fast. It hit him and he fell on top of it, clinging to it's hide. He let go and started to slide off, but before he did, he dropped a smoke bomb in the creature's mouth. It soon fell down in a fit of choking.[/I] [COLOR=blue][B]Geist:[/B] (Coughing) "Not bad for a one-handed kid, huh? Those smoke bombs are pretty useful after all."[/COLOR] [I]Geist noticed that he was talking to no one. Everyone had already split into two groups, one led by Charlie, and the other led by Karina, they were running in two different directions. How could you!? *weeps* Fli's first magical achievement... --- [i]Having by this point, gotten over his sudden magical ice-making adventures, Fli was back on his feet and trying to combat the beasts as best he could. His smoke bombs were gone shortly, just in his attempts to stay alive. Blinking, Fli spared a moment to guage what everyone was doing. He saw the two groups, and realised that they weren't really groups at all. They may have started out that way, but now it was madness. Everyone killing creatures and yet more bearing down on them. He spotted the blue cat-like creature, hopelessly outnumbered amongst the beasts, and thrown into overdrive. Someone was going to die soon if something wasn't done. Without thinking or even hesitating for once in his life, Fli ran hard, kicking up snow at his heels. He didn't know how he was going to help, but he was intent on doing so. With a roar Kinga turned towards him, her eyes blazing in rage. She saw the boy run straight past her and into her adversary. Fli clung there for a moment, wondering what the heck he'd hoped to acomplish by this, feeling the beast clawing around to throw him off. Then, with a sudden burst, the beast was frozen, much like Karina's earlier. Fli was basically hauled off the creature as Kinga grabbed him and ran.[/i] [b]Fli:[/b] *yelling to anyone who might have an answer* Where are all these things coming from!? Charlie- This guy's a freaking psycho...*Huge thunderbolts start coming from the distance*...I meant, he's a respectable and powerful wizard. *Thunder stops* Charlie- Anyway, he's too tricky to make this a simple battle. I believe that he used the stone I saw up in the mountain as a Summoner. If we destroy it, they will stop coming out. Fli- Then let's do it! Charlie- First tell the others what I just told you. I'll meet you at the base of the mountain. While Fli ran towards the main mass of spells, Charlie grabbed his necklace on his hand, and made it materialize into a short bluish sword. With it, he slashing beasts left and right.. While the others battle, he had observed how the fallen were eaten by their former comrades. It landed in front of a group, causing them all to choke and gag until they fell to the ground unconcious. Elsyan smiled to herself in satisfaction and looked up, then frowned. What was there to be happy about? Sure, she took down about four of them, but what good would that do now that there were still thousands more left? Again, she raised the dagger, but she stopped when she realized that her right hand was extremely warm. She looked down to see the stone lying in her right palm, the inner flame glowing brighter than ever. She had forgotten all about it up until now. She stared at the stone curiously.[/i] Elsyan: "Surely this thing has some power in it. How the heck do I use it though?" [i]Elsyan became so frustrated from the puzzle and was about to put the stone in one of her pockets when she felt a surge of energy go up her arm and into her very being. It was a wonderful fascination, and she became a bit giddy and lightheaded from the unexpected burst of energy. Some firey words in a strange language she had never heard of before conjured into her mind, imprinting themselves in her brain. She realized that this must be some of the power from the stone! She could see the flaming words clearly, as if she were reading them off a page from a book, and before she knew what she was doing, she was chanting them aloud. White hot fire shot from her fingers, which had been raised and pointed at the beasts. Normally one would think that the fire would consume them and scorch their flesh, but this was not so. The fire wrapped around many of the beasts ankles and necks, forming manacles. The creatures tripped when their feet would not keep moving forward in the charge, and the flaming noose around their necks kept them from standing up. They wiggled on the ground angrily, trying to free themselves. Elsyan was pleased to see that she had taken down at least 50. [/i] Elsyan: "Yes! And on this wind he let his voice carry away from him to the ears of all around him.[/i] [b]Fli:[/b] *yells* Listen to me! If we just kill these things they'll keep on coming! Bozel's summoned them! It's some kind of test! We need to kill the source! [i]His eyes sting against his savagely cold wind. He could see he had the attention of several people who are lending him half an eye, concentrating on killing beasties with the other half, and continued.[/i] [b]Fli:[/b] *points after Charlie* We need to go that way! Stop hacking and start climbing! [i]With that the wind died and Fli ran in the direction he had indicated, hoping the others would follow. She noticed some of the students racing towards the mountain.[/i] Karina: (thinking) What are those kids up to? [i]She looked at the top of the moutain and caught a glimpse of something... something was up there... of course! These beasts were Bozel's doing! She turned to follow but in her few moments that she had stopped fighting she realized that the beasts had surrounded her on all sides.[/i] Karina: ooooo should I be afraid? [i]One of the beast grunted and charged her. Exactly what she thought they were gonna do. She took out both of her smokebombs, held her breath and whipped them both at the ground causeing a huge smokecloud that blinded all of the beasts that had surrounded her in a choking cloud giving her the diversion she needed to run for all she was worth! She tore after the others without hesitation, Bozel's words echoed in her mind about if ANY student was harmed in any way...[/i] Karina: Im not going to zone out again, ive gotta catch up, if one of them was to be hurt im doomed! She sniffs the air and relises that they have worked out a way of stopping these strange beasts from coming towards them. She quickens her pace and roars out loud. The sound magnified by the moutians around them. She reached the portal with very few problems but then slipped on some hidden ice and skidded. Her weight would have helped to stop her, but she had been to hyped up and soon she found herself clinging onto bare rock, just above the portal. She chances a glance and can already see the next bach of creatures reaching out for her. Suddenly the rock gives way and she falls....but what was her fate to be? Turkey Posted January 30, 2003 Share Posted January 30, 2003 Charlie, who had been constantly stalled by the beasts while on the way up, finally got there; where Kinga and Mischief were awaiting him. Without even catching a moment to rest, he dashed towards the stone (about the size of a Volkswagen Beetle). Charlie- *Without stopping* You too, hit the stone with all your strenght! Without questioning him, they dashed towards the stone. Charlie's sword changed into a huge hammer, and he hit the stone with all his power channeled into it. Kinga used her brute force and smashed her fist into the stone. Lastly, Mischief used a strange fire attack to desintegrate the rests. After that powerful attack, the beasts stopped coming.
