OOC: LOL It?s ok. Just check back here a bit more often?I thought you had dropped out. ^^ *hugs back*

IC:
*After walking quite a bit in the pouring rain, Ambika became frustrated at the relentless shower. She did not despise it, in fact, she enjoyed it. However, she was not in the best moods after all the incidents that had occurred and nor was she in the highest spirits. The rain brought back memories that were best left forgotten...memories that Ambika had no desire to even know they existed. She was not ashamed of them, but more resentful of them?for she had been a weaker being then. A being that had been manipulated into doing things she might have done either way, but the fact was, she had someone she answered to then. That thought alone boiled her blood and as she continued to walk, her face slowly changing from a passive expression to a harsher one.*

*Before anyone could see the change, Ambika caught herself and suddenly her eyes caught the sight of an opening of a cave. At least, that?s what it looked to her. Sighing in relief, she contemplated how?d nice it be if they could at least rest just a bit. Signaling to the rest, she walked toward it, hoping there would not be any disturbances here.*

Ambika: ?At last...?

Ambika pulled back the trailing vines of jasmine and stepped inside. It was both clear and dry. She sat down and leaned against the smooth stone wall. Nepenthe tested the boundries...then automatically set up a ward and a De-spell charm. Then she sat down as well, staff resting in her lap. She smiled and closed her eyes.

Nepenthe: Feeling better?

Ambika: Just a little hungry.

Jedah: ...I do not need to eat...to retain my strength.

Nepenthe: Well this isn't about you now is it? Ambika's hungry...so go get her something. Ubber hunter.

Aidian, leaning against the wall, listened to their conversation and ignored his own need for hunger. He could catch somehting himself, if he wanted to. He didn't want anyone else doing it for him. Taking his sword from his scabbard, he turned to Nepenthe.

"I'll go," he said simply. If nothing else, he wanted to pay her back for the compassion she'd shown him at the inn. Jedah looked very underwhelmed by his gesture. Ignoring him, Aidian turned to leave.

*It made no difference to Michael, walking out of the rain. He had been maintaining an area where the rain did not reach around himself ever since the water began to fall.

He looked out from the cave mouth, cross legged inside it, and pondered as he always did. The world was fascinating, even for one who changed it. For, even though Michael had always been able to change it, sometime drastically, he could never create in the way the world did. Only the simplest of his changes could be made permanent and then those would still go once he died. He could only manipulate, he had never actually created matter, especially anything living.*

As he turned to go, Nepenthe stood up and leaned on her spear....then, as if on a whim, she followed him out of the cave. Jedah's short quick burst of laughter died away, as she turned and sent him a very clear message.

Once out in the pouring rain, Nepenthe tapped his shoulder, and smiled. He turned and looked at her.

Nepenthe: Are you ready?

Aidian: Why are you helping me?

Nepenthe: Because it's my job. Come on.

Smiling, Aidian agreed. The two of them trudged out into the long wet grass to find their quarry.

Staffs poised like spears, they searched for food. It was a hard search- most animals were staying inside their burrows, sheltering from the rain.

Suddenly, a rabbit shot out from the grass behind Aidian's foot. Quick as a flash, he caught its neck with the blade of his staff. It collapsed to the ground, struggling to breathe. memories of the man's dead body flashed through his mind. In the eyes of the helpless rodent he could see the fear of death.

It was too late to reconsider now. The most humane thing to do would be to kill it. Closing his eyes, he struck it, killing it with one swift blow.

Nepenthe watched him from a short distance away. "Why did you hesitate?" she asked softly.

Aidian clutched at his wet hair. "I..." Should he really tell this stranger why he'd been running away for so long?

She sighed and looked away. It was clearly a bad question, and it showed in her face. Aidian opened his mouth, then closed it again. Nepenthe picked up the dead rabbit and quickly put a protection spell over it, then set it down near a rock. They continued moving quietly....then it happened. A single buck leapt through the clearing and Nepenthe moved like lightning. With a swift thrust, she speared it through the chest and then cut its throat. It shuddered, and died without a sound.

She knelt and dragged it by the rack.

Nepenthe: Come on. Ambika is waiting.

*The minutes that passed seemed an eternity to Ambika; she was not comfortable in any kind of shelter but she rather be in here and rest a bit. She tried resting, however, her stomach decided to be a nuisance as it grumbled about being empty. Her hands seemed to become impatient, needing something to occupy themselves with. The pitter patter of the rain lulled Ambika into a deep trance. She had always loved listening to Nature?s music?the natural sounds always agreed with the inner harmony her soul seemed feed on. That was the only thing that did not damage others when feeding.*

(Odd...could I have acquired the love for nature?s music?.from him?)

*Shaking her head, she turned her head and looked at Jedah, who seemed to be in deep concentration. After a small while, she turned to gaze at the being that had been following them. He had not revealed his purpose; nonetheless, he had not caused any harm to them directly. *

(Another one I?ll have to watch closely. I don?t feel as if Aidan is an actual threat, but the other two are still quite mysterious...except Jedah, I know why he?s here...at least, as far as he has told us. The other two better get back soon.)

Ambika had just lit the fire and set up the roasting spit when the vines were cleared to one side and the two hunters returned. Nepenthe dragged her prize over and immediatlely quartered it and started skinning. Within moments, Aidian had finished his and it was begining to roast. After another minute or so, Nepenthe had finished her own work and was starting on the hide itself. The meat quickly cooked, and the scent of fresh venison and rabbit filled the air.

Nepenthe: Good hide.....

Ambika: This is crazy.

Aidian: What?

Nepenthe: I like deerskin.

Ambika: Oh nothing....carry on.

Nepenthe reached into her pack and drew out a simple potion of her own design. She opened it, and quickly splashed the whole hide with it. In seconds, it was ready for sewing. She smiled and closed the bottle again.

*Jedah was sickened by this display of primitive digestion. The smell of the burning animal was making him sick to his stomach, interrupting his concentration multiple times.

Jedah: "How repulsive...you intend to feast on the flesh and muscle of that doomed animal?"

Aidian gave him an exasperated look. He wasn't going to give up his first food in weeks just because this creature was being a snob.

"Would you rather we ate the dirt?" he replied under his breath.

Jedah gave the rabbit another look of revulsion before trying to return to his meditation. "At least it wouldn't smell as much."

"I'm sorry it's not to your taste, but we need to eat." Ambika said sternly, trying to wash over what could emenate into a confrontation they didn't need.

Aidian raised his hand and a swift wind blew past Jedah, removing the flesh-tainted air away from his face. "Better?"

"Much."

Nepenthe quickly ate and wrapped the rest for later. Then she quietly began to sew togtether the cut up deerhide...making a spare outfit incase the current one got ruined. She swiftly preforated the various corners and fashioned a short wrap skirt and a top. Once done, she rolled them up and put them into her botomless pack.

Ambika: Cute.

Nepenthe: The next one will be yours.

*Grinning at Nepenthe, Ambika shook her head and looked won upon her clothes. There was still a bit of dry blood, however, it was not torn at all. Her black long sleeved cloak was still in good condition and her long black dress was still clean since she rarely took of her dark cloak.*

Ambika: ?Don?t worry about it. If I ever need a change of clothing, I?ll just ask Calista. Let I never forbid her to clothe me or else she becomes a horrible wench.?

*The thought of Calista made Ambika twitch slightly. It?s been awhile since Ambika had last heard of her and she could not imagine where she may be.*

(Well, after walking out on her like I did...she may never want to speak to me?well she might since she?s always been a needy being...)

*Ambika brought her head up and turned toward the opening of the cave. Standing up, she walked towards it and stopped till she reached the end. She had always enjoyed watching the heavens cry like they did. Then she spoke, addressing everyone.*

Ambika: ?I wonder?will we have humans looking for us because of the ruckus back there? If so, I think, we will need to leave in awhile?.I hope not??

*Jedah cracked a smirk at Amibka's question.

Jedah: "Let them come. It has been quite a while since I have fed..."

Slowly, a wail of screams and moans echoed through the cave, as Jedah made reference to the souls within him, they cried out in agony.
The yelling dissipated, and Jedah pushed off of the wall he was leaning against, and walked towards Ambika near the mouth of the cave.

Jedah: "Bah...humans. What a waste of anatomical hardship. With each generation their minds deteriorate like a plague. And you think me a monster do you not Ambika? Tell me....am I no different then the humans themselves? Who murder and rape each other for mere territory and riches?....I would rather be the demon I am and feed on the souls of humans then to be one of them and kill for no rational reason other than personal satisfaction..."*

Nepenthe: And yet you yourself...rape our minds far more effectively than anything else.

Her voice echoed mockingly in the dusky night. Jedah turned and smiled at her...smirked is more like it. She stood up and stretched lazily, then walked out to look at the gathering clouds. Then, like lightning, she turned and shoved Jedah out of the way, water rising in her eyes.

Nepenthe: The next time you bait one of us like that, I swear I'll call on all the powers of Ranga'Forne to destroy you.

It was only Ambika's hand on her shoulder that brought her back to reality. She clenched her teeth and balled her fists....Nepenthe was quickly tirering of Jedah's constant disdain of them....

*Ambika looked into Nepenthe's eyes and smiled a bit, a smile that let her know she had every right to react the way she had. However, this was not the time. Slowly, Ambika turned to Jedah, giving him one of the coldest stares she ahd ever given someone. Jedah seemed a bit hesitant since he had never seen a stare that held so much emotion.*

Ambika: "Do not judge others when you are not pure. You accuse humans of doing such things, yet, not all of them do. Some do wrong for good. Nothing is black and white. Don't you forget that. You are as imperfect as us."

*Jedah slowly brought a hand up to his shoulder, and brushed it off, laughing lightly.

Jedah: "Perfection should not be expected of anything."

The demon then rose his glance to Ambika. His eyes became filled with blood, spiraling within his pupils.

Jedah: "And I would alert your friend....do NOT touch me...."*

Nepenthe: Do demons know what the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes are capable of? I wouldn't have to touch you.

He smiled at her and she simpered like a moron. Then her gaze snapped back into the cool silver that could hold the ocean. She smiled and arched her neck, before returning to lean against the wall, Ambika next to her. The two women gazed at Jedah quietly....both not speaking, but containing a well of emotions inside.

Jedah: You think I have interesting in a mortal like you?

Nepenthe: ...did I say that?

Aidian stayed quiet during the whole scene, eyeing Michael. He'd hardly said anything to them since they'd 'met', and all he seemed to be doing now was staring outside the cave.

He shrugged. As long as he didn't want to hurt them then that was alright. Lying onto his side, he prepared himself to sleep for what was left of the night. The rain beating down on the ground outside was a relaxing noise, but he still preferred the tranquility of the mountains. Silence was much more preferable to noise, he thought. Closing his eyes, he slowly drifted off to sleep.

Nepenthe: .....

Her voice echoed laughingly in his mind....teasing and taunting.

"Did I make it sound like that? Oh a thousand apologies."

He was about to reply with his own telepathy, when a huge wall of energy shot up between them and he was blocked. She smiled and leaned back against the cool cavern walls....mind games were wonderful when she got the last word in.

*Sliding down against the wall of the cave, Ambika sat down and put her down and sighed.*

Ambika: "Now if you to are done, we should get some rest. Tomorrow is going to be a long night. We must wake at dawn, preferably, before. We must obtain the stones before arriving to our destination, before Danormris gets there. He will attempt to guard that place against anyone that attempts to achieve the power that can be his demise."

*Closing her eyes, Ambika attempted to sleep, knew a part of her must always be awake or else the nightmares would return once more. Complete unconsciousness could be all that an enemy needs to take one?s life. *

Animus personified curled up quietly and wrapped her arms around herself. She sighed and her hair fell across her half clad body, giving her the air of something from another time and place.

Nepenthe wandered through the jaded corridors of her closed off mind. Everything was quiet and calm, but still giving off the beautiful scent of complex lies and twisted plots. She sat down in the center and felt the edges of her spear. It glinted and fresh blue blood came down from the point. She flinched and tasted the thick liquid. The white wine that was her blood cooled off in her mouth and she smiled. The texture was not only intoxicating, it also gave her that feeling she had to struggle hard to posess.

Her thoughts turned to Jedah, and she smiled. He didn't bother her half as much as she let on...and that made her happy. With a final longing glance at her future, she willed her eyes to open once more.

Laitina placed a finger to her lips, as she kissed the tips of her fingers lightly. It was impossible to see anything in the dark. It had been days since she had reached the mountains. It was hard to believe anyone had seen people here in the first place. She blew against her fingertip lightly, and flicked her fingers at the ground. A wreath of fire appeared on the dirt ground, creating a crimson light from where she sat.

Laitina pulled out a small vile from her belt, and drank from the miniature bottle. The frost-blue potion trickled down her throat, immediately causing the room to spin...

The young woman put her hands together, and placed them at her head. She didn't know the potion would react so quickly...

Aidian woke with a start. Sweat was dripping down his forehead. The dim dawn light was beginning to creep into the mouth of the cave.

Opposite him was sat Jedah, who was smiling in a way that Aidian didn't like. Jedah knew he was having nightmares. He cursed the ability to not be able to block other people from seeing his mind. It made running away that much harder. Aidian's gaze met Jedah's steely eyes.

"What?" Aidian asked irritably. "Going to gloat?"

Jedah shook his head calmly. "I have no need to. You've already given me all the satisfaction I need."

Aidian lay back down again with his hands behind his head. There was no point trying to argue with him. Trying to ignore him, he waited for the sun to rise and for the others to wake up.
