Finally a new chapter....:)

Chapter 9: Home In The Past

?I can?t believe you, TK. What happened to you? We were best friends. How can my love of a man other than you change that?? Kari pleaded with him.

?You left me. I didn?t leave you. I was going to give you everything I had. You knew how I felt. You said yes to Davis to rub it in my face. Well, two can play that game.? TK sneered.

?What?s happened to you??

?Me? You want to know what happened to me? Fine. Don?t say you didn?t ask.? TK sat down on a stool on the stage as his mind wandered back to the day it all ended.

TK walked down his home street, both arms full with bags from the store. His brother Matt was off on some kind of tour, so he had the apartment all to his self. TK unlocked the door, and set the bags down. He pulled a dozen red roses from one of them, and placed them in the refrigerator. Then he reached into his pocket and pulled out a tiny box and opened it. There set a stunningly cut, heart-shaped engagement ring. TK had saved all year for it. He knew it would be a surprise to Kari, but he was sure she?d say yes.

TK dug around through the other bags, and pulled out candles, rose petals, and some spiffy boxers he?d found in a catalog Matt had. Tonight was going to be a night to remember. His heart beat faster just thinking of it. Next he pulled out a red tablecloth, and then put the dinner he?d ordered in the oven to keep warm. He began to set the table with the fine china his mother had lent him. He carefully placed each candle, and all the rose petals around the table. It was just perfect. TK smiled. He looked at his watch.

6:00 p.m. Kari should be getting home any time now. He?d go over about 7:00. He dressed himself in nice looking khakis, and a button-up shirt. He didn?t wear his usual hat, or tennis shoes. He wanted to make a great impression. He gelled his hair, and was out the door in ten minutes. It was the beginning of a night he knew would change his life.

TK?s first strike out came just as he hit the sidewalk. The wind blew fierce and it started to rain. Lightning flashed overhead, signaling that the storm was here for a while. TK decided to take the bus instead of walk. He sat down in the front seat, and held the roses close. Kari?s apartment was just a few blocks.

The bus let him off at her apartment building, and TK took the elevator to the 12th floor. He walked around the corner, and got to Kari?s door. He rang the bell. No answer. He tried again. Still nothing. He told himself that she was just working late, so he?d wait there. He sat down on the bench by the window, and waited. Minutes turned into an hour. One hour turned into two. Finally at 9:30, TK heard the elevator chime at the 12th floor entrance.

Kari walked out looking cheery and very blush. She looked a little surprised to see him. TK thought she looked a little frightened too, but he didn?t care.

?Hey! Where?ve you been? I?ve been waiting on you for hours!? TK smiled.

?Oh, I?m sorry. Was I supposed to be here?? Kari asked.

?No, I was just coming over to surprise you.? TK replied.

?Well I?m surprised. Come on in! I have great news!? Kari chimed.

The two walked in and Kari went to change out of her work clothes. She came back in her pink shirt and her khaki shorts that she always wore. Then she noticed TK.

?You?re all dressed up. What?s the occasion?? Kari asked.

?You?ll find out soon enough. First though, I want to hear your good news,? TK answered, blushing a little. Kari held out her hand. On it, was a ring with a diamond in the middle and small pink stones surrounding it, so that it looked like her Crest of Light.

?Wow! Where?d you get that?? TK asked as he stared at it.

?It?s from Davis. He asked me to marry him!? The words echoed in TK?s head, and down through his heart.

?Wha?what?? He managed.

?Yeah! I?m engaged!? Kari resounded happily. TK turned almost white. He shivered a little.

?What?s wrong TK? Aren?t you happy for me??

?I should go,? TK stammered. As he stood he dropped the roses from his lap, and as he bent over to pick them up, the ring box fell out. It opened and the ring popped out and rolled over to Kari?s feet. It all became apparent to her then. She let out a small gasp. TK sat there on one knee, and placed the ring back in its box. This was not how he?d envisioned the night at all. He wanted to cry. He didn?t realize it, but he already was.

?TK, I?I thought we?d discussed this before? You knew Davis and I had been going out.? Kari tried.

?I?thought I could give you more. I guess I was wrong,? he said as he went out the door.

?TK?I?m sorry.? Kari called after him. She shut the door, and slinked to the floor in tears. She hated to see her best friend in that much pain because of her.

TK walked recklessly out the apartment door into the rain, not caring where he went. He kept walking and walking. He passed his apartment, then went passed Davis?s. He thought about going in, but didn?t. The wind and rain hammered him, but he didn?t even feel it. He just walked on.
Finally, he came to the park, and sat down on a bench. Feelings of anger and hate and sorrow paced through every part of him. He felt a side of himself come back that hadn?t surfaced since the days of the digimon emperor. He felt more hatred than anything. He wanted revenge. A very dark presence crept over him.

?So here you sit. Alone again.? A cold voice said.

?Who?s there?? TK jumped.

?It doesn?t matter. I can help you get what you want.?

?How do you know what I want??

?It?s simple. You want revenge. It?s written all over your face. I can help you get it.?

TK sat for a moment. Whoever this was, was right. He did want revenge.

?I want it.? He said under his breath. The next thing TK knew, he was lying on the bench in the sunshine the next morning. It had been a dream. The sun hurt his eyes, and made him feel sick. He just wanted to go home. He went to his apartment. Matt wasn?t home yet. He dug around in his closet to find some dry clothes. He pulled out a black shirt, and black shorts of Matt?s. It seemed right. He walked into the living room to find the answering machine full of messages from Kari. He didn?t eve listen to them. He walked into the kitchen to find it decorated the way he left it. It angered him to see such bright beautiful things. He walked over to the table, and jerked the tablecloth, and everything on it, to the floor. His mother?s china shattered.

TK couldn?t stay here. It just wasn?t happening. He packed a few things and headed out. His grandparents had left him some money in an inheritance fund, so he?d live off that. He wasn?t sure where he?d go, but it wouldn?t be far. He?d made up his mind that his heart would be avenged, no matter what the cost.

?And after that is the first time you attacked me.? Kari interrupted the flashback.

?Smart, aren?t you?? TK sneered.

?TK. Let us help you. Something?s very wrong here.?

?You?ve helped enough. It?s time to end this nightmare.?

It's to the point to where I almost have to bring in some digimon. Trouble is, I have quite a few people reading it that's never seen digimon. So I have to do this very carefully. It might be a while before the next chapter....but then, I do have the next 5 days off...

Uhh, hey Gin, I'm not sure if this is true but if you were to say that to Devi I'm not sure if he would go along with the saying they go together because they're hope and light.....There was a thread about that or something like that was mentioned a loooooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago....And there's another thing I'd like to argue on, but this isn't the place..................Hey Shaun, you take your time...We can wait for you, right?...
