Jesus Chicken
AHAHAH!!! the Big day Out 2003..Yes I was there. Gold Coast Yesterday... I shall now go through my day. If anyone else on the boards go, please, describe the time you had. If you want to know anything about the bands I saw, ask away. MY DAY! I arrived at around 9:30am. Gates opened at 10:30. :excited: The first band I saw were Wiakiki. You may have heard "here comes September" I hadn't heard any of their stuff up to then, and I was suprised. Wiakiki were damn good. Second Band Frenzal Rhomb there was no one on at the time that I really wanted to see, so I sat back and watched the humerous antics of Frenzal Rhomb. They opened with some guy doing a stand up act with some really sick twisted jokes. Some guy came onstage dressed as Ronald McDonald and they smashed a TV over his head. After that it was all downhill... sorry if anyone here is a fan but I didn't enjoy them.. All the songs sounded the same... Oh well:( Third Band 28 Days Hmm.. Now here's another band who I thought would have been good to poke fun at, due to their current single "whats the deal?" But like Wiakiki, they went off. More then Wiakiki. Some songs they played were as follows. Rip it up (the best) take me away, whats the deal (went off) say what and stealing chairs. Twas damn good. Fourth band Pacifier. Now these guys know how to make people lose their head. Kick *** heavy as sh** riffs, and a singer who looks like John Cusack. I was very very happy. some songs played, Comfort Me, General Electric (the best)Everything and a whole bunch of other great stuff. Great! Fifth Band Jebediah! ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR!! If anyone has heard Teflon, you'll know what I'm on about. Jebediah were amazing. Despite having to leave halfway through their set due to heat exhaustion. some songs they played: fall down, teflon (thankyou jebus!) and Harpoon. If i wasn;t dying I would tell you more. sorry. Sixth Band The Vines Sorry people. They were absolutely terrible. I think they must have been extra stoned yesterday, but god damn it was bad! Songs played Country Yard, Get Free, Highly evolved, Outtathaway and In the Jungle. I dont know what the problem was, but it was big. Seventh Band Living End Good old prisoner of societty. I hadnt seen them live and I didn't like much of their new stuff until I heard it again yesterday. There is nothing like seeing a band you think are going down hill, live and have them turn your view around completely. Exactly what they did. Some songs played; One said to the other, Prisoner of Society, Second Solution and Pictures in the Mirror (my personal favourite) GO CHRIS!! Eighth Band Queens of the Stone Age HOLY ****!! Tats about aswell as I can describe the experience. That crazy bald bass guy kept winking at me, what a champ! I went in thinking that the drummer they had couldnt possibly pull off what Dave Grohl had done on the CD, but whoever it was. GOOD FREAKING JOB!! Some songs they played: song for the dead, song for the deaf, feel good hit of the summer, No one knows and Hanging Tree,. MUST SEE AGAIN!! Ninth Band Foo Fighters Best act of the entire day and believe me, it wasn't easy. Behind them they had the big sheets just like in the clip for "all my life" First it was blank then the first one dropped to reveal a FF symbol (like that in my avatar) and then it was the heart, like on the cover for the album "one by one" Dave rode out on his scooter, as last time he visited the Gold Coast he was arrested for drunken scooter driving. and he only used his patented clear guitar. Some songs played: opened with "all my life" (the best), Generator, Learn to Fly, tired, Monkey Wrench, Breakout and Everlong. They were so... damn.. good I shall post some photos as soon as I get near a scanner and have the film developed. If you get the chance, GO DAMMMIT!!!
