:babble: This morning at 4:00 on Encore, I was watching this anime movie called X. It was made by U.S.Manga Corps. I found the movie to be very interesting even though I got kinda lost in the middle of the movie. I wanted to know if anyone else saw it so I can talk to someone about it.:)

I saw X the movie and it was beautiful, but they crammed a whole manga series into one hour and that is what made it horrible. I LOVE X, so I was HIGHLY disappointed.

BUT, there is hope! Because there is a TV series! And I have the first volume of it! ^_^

Yes, the movie did no justice to the series, really. The only thing I liked about it was ending song... >.>

But see the TV series! It was MUCH better than the movie, so if you liked the movie, you'd probably like the series a lot, too.

I personally liked the manga the best of the 3. lol. Kamui had more personality, I think... Yes, personality is a good thing... -_-

I haven't read the manga, so I had no basis to compare it with the movie. Nevertheless, I liked X: The Movie because of the slick animation, gorgeous artwork, and great action. There was hardly any time to care for the characters or its story, so that was something I found displeasing.

X: The Series is something else, though. I have the first two DVDs, and along with Hellsing, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Saint Seiya Hades, it is the series I'm currently more into. THIS time we get to know and care for the characters, and the animation and soundtrack are nothing short of impressive. The opening theme is great, too.

The only thing I don't like about the TV series is that Kamui seems so evil and rude. In the manga, I recall him as being a caring guy and that he loved Fuma and Kotori. In the TV series he just sort of blows them off when they try to get close to him. And that makes his character less appealing.

The movie just seemed so empty because there are SO many characters in the series and they can't be fully developed in a movie that is only an hour long. Heck, they can't even hardly be introduced. But Arashi and Sorota did have their little romantic moment. ^_^ That satisfied me. Heh...I'm such a sucker for romance...

I thought the movie was alright, but I get tired of the tragic stories.

All of the time in anime stories end up with this sap story.

Problem is, with a series of manga you can do a "sap story" but in a 1 hour movie its too hard to capture the same emotion you can develop over a long period of time with a manga.

So I would say that this movie was only ok.

I hope I get to catch the tv series asuka was talking about.

But for now, I would say that in the over all, x had some great qualities in the story. The power sheild and the powers the individuals hold. Those are great ideas.

I also loved the individuality of the charactors, each person seems to have a specific role and identity.

But when you take those elements which are honed in a manga and cram them into a 1 hour movie, you end up with something that is... well... half baked.

I am actually wishing that the TV series gets a different ending.

Of course, I haven't seen the manga, so I'm less informed, but the movie ended very tragically. Even so, the opening OVA of the TV series gives the viewers hope that the destiny isn't written yet, that tragedy isn't a certain outcome. I took the words by Kotori as a foreshadowing for a completely different ending.

well, I saw X the movie, and for some reason I never thought of it to be anything better then good. I got exactly what I excpected from it and thats a good thing. It wasn't the best anime movie I have seen but I still thought it was pretty good, I wish I had the series to watch >_<

Guest Hikaru Ichijyo
What a very disappointing movie, I agree with everyone else they tried to cram a large portion of the manga into 1:45 minutes the end result was a piece of monkey poo that had very little bit of characterization, and plot development going on. Very low score for X-The Movie, I personally would give it a 0.5 out of 10. The animation was nice and all but that doesn't make up for a jumbled plot and character development.

Though if your really interested try the series, I won't blow what happens since that would be fair to everyone else. :therock:
