REVENGE2
...in saying that Kid Buu's voice actor is the same as Emporer Pilof's in the origonal Dragonball? I could be wrong, but they sound a lot alike at many points.
Charles
I agree with you. I've noticed this as well. At first I thought it was lame, but since Kid Buu doesn't really talk much, it isn't so bad. I can't confirm that it's the same voice actor with certainty though.
Transtic Nerve
Probably, it's like that alot in DB/Z and soon to be GT. FUNimation only has like 15 voice actors... probably less, so it would be impossible, and rather stupid, to have a different voice actor for every single character. Like Chris Sabat who plays Vegita also does Piccolo and about 15 other characters. Sean Shemell who does Gokou also does King Kai and Nail and various other characters. And if you're talking about the Japanese version, the same applies.
REVENGE2
I'm not annoyed with it - I think Pilof's voice sounds good on Kid Buu. My only complaint...you remember the laugh he did when he leaped at that guy and poured himself down his throat as Super Buu? 'WHA-HAH!' in a high-pitched voice? I liked that, too. He doesn't do it as often as he should. [looks to make sure no one is watching; then goes and runs up to some random person] WHA-HAH!
JCBaggee
Yeah, watch two or three FUNi series and you'll notice several repeats. Watch YYH and DB and you'll notice Baba Yaga sounds a lot like Genkai.. --J.C.
Yu Yu Hakusho!
Just thinking about this. We all know that FUNImation does the voices for DBZ and DB. They also cast the voices of Yu Yu Hakusho. Does it ever distract you to listen to YYH and DBZ and think of Chi Chi when Botan is talking? I do sometimes. Here are the voices....if you care to know. (I can't think of some of the voice actors names right now so please bear with me) Yusuke: Justin Cook (can't think of who he does in DBZ but I've seen his name in the credits) Botan: Chi Chi (don't know the actresses name is) Kurama: ? Hiei: Supreme Kai (I sware...even my dad knew) Kuwabara: Vegeta, Piccolo, Yamcha (duh, Christopher Sabat) (he does such a great job, I didn't even know it was him doing Kuwabara until I saw the credits) Genkai: Frieza (duh, so obvious...the same scary smoky woman's voice) Koenma: ....? Keiko: Laura Bailey! (I think...either her or the woman that does Goten's voice. Laura Bailey does Trunks' voice) Atsuko (Yusuke's mom): Android 18 (Merideith McCoy...trust me, you can tell that calm voice from ANYWHERE...) That's basically it for now. If you know anyone else or can add to that list, please do so! But I wonder....do you think of Chi Chi when Botan talks? Or the other way around? Or do you think of 18 when Atsuko talks? Or Hiei? Just think about it. ;) This idea with incredibly similar to this thread, so I merged them. Just letting you know... - PM
Kent
Actually, if you watch anime in general (english that is) you will notice that voice actors are often cast in several different series. In fact, if you watch lain on tech tv, I believe you will hear the same voice of gene doing some random kid in a bar. (heard it last night) Or if you watch dangerous missions on history channel (non anime) you will hear that the narrator is the same fella is the man that does the voice of jet. (it was so suprising I checked it out and it turns out that the last name of the guy on both programs is the same. Maybe homeboy is using two different first names, or the two are brothers, but both have the same last name.) Either way, my point is that voice actors are in a circle of people and once your there, that is that, and you have a good chance of getting more work in the same field. Guest QuickSilver
Oh yeah but could you really determine if their voices were the same from just listening to him in the first episode of GT? He appears a lot more in Dragonball than just for the five minutes he appears in GT.
JCBaggee
Yeah, but the V.A. was the same, so it really doesn't matter. Although, their may be a slight difference in how deep the actor's voice is between the eps (they have a tendency to get deeper in lower series...it may just be them trying to show old age). --Chris
