Has anybody ever awakened to the strange feeling that someone, or something, was watching you, touching you, or otherwise just plain being there, even though you knew it was flat out impossible? Did you ever think there were ghosts out there? Do you still?

I remember, several times in my eight-to-nine-year-old days, I often awoke to a scent all too familiar to me. It was the scent of spearmint pipe tobacco, my grandfather's favorite. He often used to puff on it while he was telling a story, thinking, or looking out the window at the beauty of the nature I used to live in. e'd died when I was seven. One of these nights, I saw someone in the rocking chair that my grandfather had often slept in, whittled in, or told stories of his youth in. It was his favorite place to be, aside from the window-seat. Wood shavings still littered the ground around that chair, but that night, when I awoke, I heard familiar scrapings of a blade on wood, smelled he tobacco, and saw a faint shape in the rocking chair. It was my grandfather. He told me, right out, that I would be in trouble very soon if I didn't stay home from school the next day. He vanished, leaving me alone with only the thoughts about my grandfather and the scent of tobacco and wood shavings in my senses.I fell asleep crying in the chair. I woke up the next day, but convinced my parents that I had a cold. It was reported later that afternoon that there had been a school shooting....in my classroom. A kid from fifth grade had cracked and tried to kill a second grade teacher he'd hated for three years. He missed, and his bullet hit my chair, right where my heart would have been had I gone to school...has anyone else ever felt like this? Experienced something like this? Or am I just "special" as my parents have been saying for the last few years, even though I have been proven completely, totally sane by four psychiatrists?

Hmm well personally I've never experienced that sort of feeling like someone is in the room with you or not, but perhaps thats why I don't believe in Ghost. My mother however is a different story she's a true believer of that sort of stuff. I can't really tell you wether they exist or not it's all a matter of people's opinions and beliefs. Perhaps if Ghost truly exist they only appear or let people who believe in them know they are around.

*shrugs* Interesting theory though...:)

Well, while I don't recall seeing anything similar to ghosts, and I haven't really awakened to the feeling of having someone else there... But then again, I never really awaken until fairly late in the morning, though I can somtimes awake earlier... ...But despite all that, I still believe there's a possibility of ghosts truly existing, though they're something that tends to remain hidden to the eye, except in special cases.

*shrugs, twice* I'd say a bit more, elaborate a bit more, but I guess I'm just a tiny bit tired... ...But interesting story there, Etarah.

I thought I was being abducted by aliens once... but then I realized it was the cat being noisy... U.U;;
I like to think that maybe there's something there but with my theory about souls and spiritual planes its just not possible, unless the spirits that passed on to another plane could reach us down here...
My mum said she saw a ghost once, and she also had a freaky séance experience.

Very rarily have I had those instances where I thought I heard someone calling my name in a familiar voice, or someone had touched my arm. Naturally, when I ask around, no one admits to being the source, and think I'm loopy, to boot. It's the weirdest sensation, and I have no explanation for it. Most of the times, it happens when I'm all alone, so that makes it quite difficult for anyone (even myself) to believe.

My uncle, just before he died, claimed he saw a lady angel waiting for him.

"There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio..."
I don't try to explain everything. And because of the rarities of the instances, I don't have much of an opinion either way. I prefer to be open minded, myself.

I used to never beleive in ghosts and that sort of thing.
But ever since I started watching Yu Yu Hakusho I sort of became hooked on beleiving that sort of thing. It's actually against my religion to beleive that sort of thing, but I just do.
Now I beleive in demons and ghosts and that sort of thing.
I'd have to blame the first episode for that.
(when Yusuke dies and he meets Botan)
Is anyone else's beleifs changed because of something like that?

I mean, I've never actually SEEN a ghost and I will proably NEVER actually fully beleive in ghosts and demons until I see them, which might be after I die or whatever.
So I guess you could say I sort of do and sort of don't beleive in ghosts and the paranormal.

I don't really believe in ghosts, but I sometimes feel a spiritual presence. For some reason, if I go somewhere that a death has happened, or if I touch something that was loved by somebody, I feel very freaky.
My mum told me that when I was little, I used to call out 'Lady' for no reason, and she thinks that I had a ghost who supported me as a child. Once, when I was very ill, I had a temperature over 104 degrees, I saw smoke coming underneath the door, and the door was being dragged around the room by this strange gremlin thing, but that was like a hallucination, not a ghostly experience. That still scared me though, and I was never sure if it was a dream or a memory.

Once, as I awoke, the smell of bacon had permeated into my room... and bacon was my dead grandfather's favorite food. Then this strange sound began, like someone was frying bacon downstairs in the kitchen... the experience was so surreal, I can't ever forget. To this day, I believe I am eating my grandfather's spirit whenever I eat bacon...

But there isn't any evidence to prove that they didn't see/hear things either.

I myself believe in ghosts and such. One time, when I was very young, I used to have a babysitter. She had her brother over, and we all started to smell gas. As a joke the brother said "excuse me" but we told him we actually smelled gas. So we went outside onto my play set with a phone, and we all looked at the house. And in my guinea(sp) pigs room, we all saw a face walk by. All the doors were locked from the moment my parents left, all the windows locked, so there was no way that someone could have gotten in, and besides my dog goes crazy around new people. :D But yes since that day I believe in ghosts.

And aliens.....phew don't get me started. Believe in them 100% and nothing is going to change that. :D

Haha. The same could be said about many things- God is the biggest one of them all. I know you're Athiest, but honestly- how narrowminded can you be about things? Lol.

I believe in all of that, frankly. Theres no evidence against it, and I personally have seen a few strange things when I wasnt on acid. Sometimes scary, sometimes just midly jolting, its a strange thing to be a part of, especially frequently. Demons, Angels, Ghosts. Strange sights.. Eesh.

Oh well. We all have our seperate opinons.

I've never had an experience like the one you went through EM, though I do believe in the paranormal, mainly because of something that happened about 2 years ago now.

I was in my old bedroom (I've moved rooms since then), laying awake at about 2am. I was looking out the window. I went to turn over and close my eyes. I opened them again and eveything went white for a brief few seconds. During that time, I have a memory of looking out the window, and seeing an angel limp acroos the front lawn with a broken wing. You could tell that the angel was injured, and I wanted to help, but I couldn't move.

I still think that has something to do with my future. Call me crazy, but I seen this.

....yeah you're right I'm probably crazy.

I used to not believe in it until I visited Autumn's house. They have a ghost that they see all the time. In fact, they had to get his grave removed from the side of their house because after hearing continous knocing in their basement, they got someone to check it out, and sure enough, there was a coffin there. Now the guy still sticks around. I am so SCARED to go to her house now. One time, during band camp, I was in the bathroom putting on my swimsuit and when I went to come out, the door wouldn't open. I was so scared it wasn't even funny and I said, "Oh my GOD!" and then the door opened...

Bah, you all probably think I'm an idiot now. (Or even more so...)

I still believe in ghosts eventhough I am Christian.It's really really weird!u.u;

One of my teachers always talk about "Holy Spirits". And when I was in his class, I get really scared whenever I am alone at home, thinking about ghosts in my pitch dark room!!! But now I don't think about it anymore but I think it does exist in this world.

I believe that it's a possibility. There are enough strange occurances for it to be real.

Once, my mother was at home alone around christmas time. A bulb on the tree started shaking and then stopped. One of them that was closer to her started shaking and then stopped. This happened a lot of times and got closer each time.

Another thing that happened, was a lampshade in my house started shaking for no reason. And there's always the occasional voice coming from the unplugged speaker.

One night, I awoke to find myself levitating off the bed.

I know it might have been a continuation of the dream, but who wakes up in a dream? I don't recall waking up from the levitating position either.

I Think it has a lot to do with the "me-being-the-antichrist" thingy

I'm very superstitious. ^_^;

Umm... I believe in ghosts, but not exactly those kind you see in Casper or Scooby Doo...etc. >>;

My grandparents believe in alot of spiritual stuff, so I believe in sprits, which count as ghosts, I think.

Although, I really don't get too spooked with door creaking, chair shaking... I mean, if you live in San Francisco, everything creaks and rocks by itself. ^_^;

The only real experience I know that I could attribute to a ghost is one involving a cat I had. It was a male white cat with black spots on it, so I named it Cookie, as in Cookies and Cream...right. Well, anyway it died because of something wrong with it's bladder. This cat was always friendly, and usually would jump onto the kitchen table when I was in the room to get closer to me so I could pet it. Then when I would start to leave it would jump down, and make a very distinctive purring sound before it hit the floor.

Well, about a week after it died I was in the kitchen. Then I turned to leave the room, and out of the corner of my eye I saw this white and black blur coming off of the table followed by that same purr my cat use to do and to top it off I actually heard the thud of it hitting the floor. But when I turned my full attention to the spot it landed, there was nothing there. So, I definitely think it was the spirit of my cat.

I've always believed in such things, before this incident though.

Never, have i seen a ghost but i always had a feeling like my dad was watching me. One time i was in my room with my bedroom door comepletly shut and then it suddenly opened, as if by will, and i know i shut the door tightly, cause i didn't want my psychotic cat getting in and annoying me. I have seen ghosts on tv though, caught on videocamera etc. There was this one incident where these two guys were at this house, one had a still camera, the other had a video camera. Well the one with the Video camera went inside the house and started filming while the guy with the still took pictures outside the house, he got a picture of an upper wing of this house, well after he developed it, a pink apparation appeared, it looked human, after that showed up they zommed in on the face which appeared as a human skull, now i know that the host of the show said this was a real ghost because they did checks etc. the pink apparation wasn't a camera trick, and from what things i know about cameras i don't think it would be possible to make a thing like that appear. Okay, i'm done yapping.
