Kent
Well, basically I wanted to talk about tattoos. Im wondering what you guys think. Do you have any? Do you want them? Now, as for me, I have none, and dont think I ever will. I pretty much believe that tattooing something on you is a mistake. Its never gonna go away and its their for life. I might think about it if I did something like joined the army or something. But otherwise, I would never desacrate my body in such a way. I also have a lil bit of a problem with the recent trend in tattooing which leads westerners into the field of eastern symbols. Most of the time these people dont know any sort of eastern language symbols/charactors except for the one they were taught by the tattoo artist. I mean, at first even I thought it was sorta cool to see the charactors, but that was before it became the trend it is. Plus, I like symbols like that on paper, not my body. Of course, the bottom line in this is that its your body and your choice. Your not hurting any one else that should make it alright from a third person perspective. But from a first person perspective, I would say, never. Not in a million years. So what do you guys think.
Sara
Me? Eh, no. My taste changes too often for me to risk having anything that permanent done to me.
Foredaddy
I think I'd like to get one someday. But it would have to be about a happy memory or something like. No girlfriend names or some crazy thing like a big black panther, just something simple and to the point.
Semjaza
I plan on getting one eventually. The trick is not to pick something stupid that is some passing thing. Like Foredaddy said, no girlfriends or whatever. I'd never put a girl's name on me anyway, you never know what may happen in the future. There are smaller designs and more abstract things I would be more interested in. There are also characters and such that I've liked most of my life and can never see me disliking. I'd get one of those as well... just nothing gigantic or up and down my body so that I could never cover them up if I needed to.
PiroMunkie
I would consider it. I am with Foredaddy on the point about: "No girlfriend names or some crazy thing like a big black panther". Though it would not necessarily be about a happy memory or whatever. Just things that help express me. Things that are part of who I am, or what I have become. I draw on myself occasionally with permanent marker. I once have a bunch of random images and words drawn on my right hand all the way three-fourths up my forearm. It got rather tiring to retrace every morning, but I still did it anyway. It was pretty cool. So yeah, I would consider it.
Cora Jane 2
well.... i know that i want 3, maybe 4. and i know where i want them too... i want to get a "black rose" on my left shoulder blade, a "dragon" in the small of my back, and "the japanese characters & korean characters of my name" on my left ankle... the reason for the japanese/korean characters is because i am korean, and i am huge into the japanese culture. my 4th one would be another "dragon" on my right shoulder blade. but yeah, what can i say, i love stuff like tattoos and piercings... lol
Kent
I think I would only do a tattoo representitive of a life changing event just as mentioned before. Like, from what I understand, some of the airborne units in the military get a shamrock. It represents the luck they must have since they managed to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. I do however believe it is a personal decision, so if you want one, go get it. Just make sure its not a mistake. I also wanna mention that I really am sorry for anyone that has a tattoo they regret. I mean, I bought a bike that I regret buying and it makes me sick to think about it. So... I really am sorry if anyone reading this thread has a tattoo they regret. I also wanna remind you that there are procedures that can remove these things with laser surgery and what not.
Charles
The main problem I have with tattoos is that they begin to look sloppy and blurred as your skin ages. So many people live for the moment and get large, elaborate-looking designs that sprawl across most of their bodies. They don't stop and think about how it'll look like nothing more than a huge blotch of faded ink when they get old. If I got a tattoo, it would probably be something small on my shoulder or on the small of my back; there's a certain Latin phrase I've always been fond of. I wouldn't want anything on my arms because it looks unprofessional and trashy. The one thing I would not do under any circumstances, is get branded. Branding seems to be a growing trend and a common alternative to tattooing. My goodness, I can just imagine the pain involved--and the puffy skin looks sickly. :shudders:
The Vampire: Ed
I wanna get a tattoo mask of Alf to cover my entire face, except with fangs. That'll be the perfect tattoo, and I'll be envied by all.
L.A. Rod.
I'm not the type of person who would get addicted to tattooing my body. This may be due to the fact that I only think you should get something that you will eventually see as a part of your body. People who get addicted to tattoos on their body start to get things put on them simply for the sake of drawing on themselves. I plan to someday get a tattoo, something that will represent a part of me that I will never reform(although I may forget and not get one). I think the reason why the Eastern art is so irritating now is because it's been done to death, nobody cares what they mean anymore. One thing I can't stand is when people get tattoos of prison references when the only thing they have on their record is j-walking. The tattoos that immates get usually mean something important and serve as a reminder for what they have seen if they were ever to get out. People on the outside who get them only to look hard are defeating the whole point.

BabyGirl
I am definitely planning on getting a tattoo. What it will be, however, is still undecided. I'm pretty sure that I either want a hibiscus or the Kanji symbols for yousei [fairy] on the right side of my lower abdomen. I don't care if people think that eastern symbols are stupid, I like them :p My boyfriend has this awesome tattoo on his foot which he designed himself. It's a clock inside a nautical-looking compass with all of these points and shading. I think it looks absolutely great. For me it's either getting a tattoo or a labret piercing, I'm not sure which one I'll do first ^_^
GinnyLyn
Needles. Ink injected into my skin. OO; EEP! Ah, ha ha...not for me, thanks, I'm a big chicken when it comes to pain. *points to her unpierced ears*
Kent
Well hey, if you like them its all good. I did say its a thing of personal choice. But for some reason I see something odd about being hell bent on getting something, when you dont know what your gonna get. I mean, its not like this is a car, where you know what kind you want and not what color. We're talking about a permenant marking on your body. To me it seems people are using tattoos as accessories. I personally believe that if something changed your life enough to be worthy of a life time marking, than it would have probably left a scar on you in the first place. Plus, babygirl, I would say your way too pretty to ruin it all with an ugly tattoo.
Bremma
Ive done henna a few times, but i wouldnt do a perm taotoo. maybe a new pericing, but not a tattoo.
Syn
Basically, IMO, they look cool, but I wouldnt have a real one done. Too messy and so on.
Yu Yu Hakusho!
No, I am proud to say that I don't have one and I never will unless someone put one on me while I am sleeping....>< Where should I start on the matter? Ok, I know some people may think now while they're young immature teenagers like me that are like, "Tatoos are cool! I'm getting one just because they're so cool!" And they go out and get one. Ok, so they think that the tatoo is cool now and it looks good on wherever they got it on their body, but what about when you're 40 and your skin starts to sag? And what about being in your 20's and you're looking for a job? Remember that tatoo of a rose you put on your ankle/wrist? You can't hide it under that suit of yours during that interview with that senior executive of that company you want to work for. How about then? I bet you'd regret it. I know I would so that's why I would never dream of getting one. I mean, I love some of the ones that are in Japanese Kanji and I used to know someone that had that on their wrist, but I'd still never get it. You just can't hide tatoos. And I bet you'd be older and look at your tatoo from when you were a teenager and be embarrased by it. What would your son/daughter say if they saw a tatoo on their mom/dad? What would you say to them? I bet you'd be embarrased then too, just like I would. There are so many reasons why you shouldn't get one. But it's your skin. Your life. You do what you want. I know my parents would never forgive me if I ever got a tatoo.
Sere Tuscumbia
To tattoo, or not to tattoo, that is the question. I might. Maybe. There's a slim possiblity. Well, I'm not going to bother, until the moment comes. If inspiration strikes me, then inspiration strikes me and I go get a tattoo. But, uh, I'd have to leave the state. Getting a tattoo is illegal in Oklahoma. *shrugs* I have a high pain tolerance. I can take it . . . Ok, that's a 'no' coming from me . . . for now. --Mistress Sere Tuscumbia signing off. Juu
eep. o.o' I don't think I'd really want a tatoo. ^_^;;; I've never really thought about getting one either. I always wonder about those people who tatoo in their boyfriend's/girlfriend's name. I mean, what if they break up? They'd have to pay like, a thousand dollars to get it off... I don't look at it as a gross thing or anything of that sort. Just, I'm afraid of how they do it. o_o;
Yu Yu Hakusho!
That's how I feel too....I'd be scared of the pain. And getting it off? Yeesh.....thousands, like you said Juu. I just couldn't do it. I mean, it's not really that gross, I just don't like them.... What scares me is seeing those tatoo shops in Houston (South...bad part of town) that have signs up that say "Ladies Free" I mean c'mon, what's the catch dude? Delian
Tattoos can be quite nice...I have a tatoo...but you can only see it if I wear a bikini or really low hipsters...It's of a little pixie/faerie (black ink) and i've been wanting it for such a long time and I don't regret doing it. I'm not sure if I will get another one. If i do, it will be something that would be of significance to me...I'm not one to get something permanently imprinted on my body just to look cool or for some other stupid reason. Hehehehe... my sister has my name tatooed on her arm...isn't sisterly love great
Shy
If I were the type of person who liked to show off his body, getting a tattoo might be a possibility. Maybe a smaller one, but I have no idea what it would say. -Shy
James
I've thought about getting a tattoo, but I don't know if I'd get one just yet. I've been thinking of getting a little "R" on my butt (*giggles*) or the small of my back. But I don't know if I'll do that yet...it's sort of a private thing. Anyway, yeah...I wouldn't get some huge tattoo because obviously it's harder to cover up. Plus, when you get old (as has been said), it might look horrible. Of course, the rest of my skin would be wrinkly when I'm old lol...so that doesn't matter much. That's why, if I get one, I'd get one in a private place so that only my partner can see it.
Red
I've considered getting a tattoo before, and I suppose I eventually will. It's really just a case of me deciding what I'm going to have as a tattoo. Something in Japanese, or 'elite' along the base of my back would be what I want.
