The Harlequin
OOC: That's right...my start of siege post. As battle horns suddenly rang out around the Post, Lacroix leapt to his feet, threw his head back, and howled with delight. Around him, shouts broke out, and people rushed for weapons. He held his hands up for silence, and the common room quieted. He walked outside, the other pt the post trailing him. Kinrade blinked as he saw the sheer number of people here. Lacroix leapt up onto the battlements, and raised his hands. A herald rode forward, clad in black armour. His horse reared under him, and took several moments to quiet. Lacroix: Well. Do you want something? Herald: Ah, how quickly your tone shall change. There are no terms. You will surrender, now. Or you will die. Lacroix: Do you have any idea what you're doing? Herald: We are destroying you. Lacroix: Well, all I can say is; Say hello to my little friend. Lacroix stretched lazily, and muttered something under his breath. The herald reared his horse and spun, blowing into a horn. Across the field surrounding the Post, siege towers started to trundle along, and troops carrying scaling ladders followed them. Lacroix stared incredulously, and burst out laughing. Lacroix: They're attacking me with a conventional army? He kept laughing as the ground started shaking. Kinrade climbed the battlements and stood beside him, looking around slightly nervously. A reddish tinge filled the air, and for a minute Kinrade thought Belaaz had somehow returned his control, and sent him into the bloodlust. But no, others too were looking around, alarmed. In front of the Post, a circle appeared on the ground. Immense, traced in lava and lightning, a crevasse down to the Abyss. Lines shot across it, as power focuses found each other and joined. The resulting sigil was impossibly complex. A shimmering filled the air, appearing a swirling fog of blood through the red haze. Lacroix looked somewhat satisfied. So did the creature that appeared out of that gauzy nimbus. Taller than the walls it was summoned to defend, a creature of utter blackness, all tentacles and claws. Virash, the lord of the Seventh Circle. Lacroix had connections. There was a crash of thunder, and out of nowhere, a storm vortexed above them. The centre spun into a whirlpool, which opened into Celestial light. A beam came crashing down, striking the ground where the sigil had stood. There was a huge tremor, and the light turned smoky, before fading. In it's palce stood a being as huge as the first, but clad in a white robe. The only thing that was visible was the huge sword, and the wings that spanned the sky. Syrianne, avatar of all that was holy. The two beings bowed courteously to each other, and advanced on the now less than happy army. Lacroix: Ah, the people I know. Kinrade stared as the figures strode forward, decimating those infront of them. The angel shouted in a voice to loud for human comprehension, that deafened Kinrade even from the walls. Virash just snarled, and laughed. Viciously, hellishly. They stopped suddenly, and spun, bowing to Lacroix. In a second, they were gone. Lacroix looked a little confused. Lacroix: God damn it. I hate it when they do that. The army on the field slowly regrouped. Very slowly. Inside the Post, people assembled for defense. Nearly as slowly.
liamc2
*falls over* I guess I wasn't obvious when I mentioned the Sapphire gem around Athenos' neck. Ah well. That's what you get for being ominous. --- Athenos pulled back on the reins, spinning Fieleth around on the spot. Fieleth snorted indignantly at the sudden stop and continued around in a circle, stamping the ground. Athenos patted him on the neck and glanced around the secluded forest circle. The item on the chain was positively burning now, which was odd, nothing burned him before. He placed a hand on his chest, something sparked through his robes and hit his hand. An image pierced his mind like a knife. 'That way...' he muttered. Fieleth snorted and ran north-east. Soon the countryside became a blur once more and Athenos pondered the ominous meaning of this development. The sound of a horn far behind reached his ears, ever so faintly it did arrive. The battle must have started somewhat... Athen bristled when he felt the magma rise from the earth like blood from a wound..he fidgeted in his saddle, torn between following one mystery or another...Fieleth ended Athenos' internal argument by snorting and increasing his pace. Talon
Blaze sighed wantonly, his armor and short sword making him feel a lust. He looked to Lacroix, who had rejoined him at the floor. He looked up, grinning. Blaze:Summon me? Lacroix:Ah, and you won't bow and disappear. I hate that. Clever. And you can survive? Blaze:Of course. I almost defeated the fastest swordsman in the world, I think a minor conventional army would be easy. Lacroix grinned, returning to his watching point on the battlements. He raised his hand as if in summon, and Blaze took it as his signal. He bashed the doors twice, successfully scaring the troops beyond the doors, then bashing through the doors completely. He rushed the guards, smashing heads and slashing violently at anyone who came near. When it got to the point that nobody came near, he turned and sat at the entrance to The Post, grinning wildly. Lacroix again left his post at the battlements, joining Blaze on the bridge. Lacroix:Interesting. That was the most entertaining show I can say I've ever seen. Blaze:We ought to let the others have as much fun. Lacroix:They should be, with all of the rival army's talk about the "hellspawn lion". Blaze:Now I am angry. Before, I was hungry, now, I'm angry. Lacroix:Why? Blaze:I am no lion! I am part tiger. After our friends have had their fill, I will hunt the remainder down and slit their throats of such slander.
Raiha
Nepenthe was looking decidedly lazy again....Siren smiled as the female sorceress watched the men's antics. She circled both her legs around and quickly landed next to Lacroix. She kneed him in the butt affectionately before pointing both hands out at the massing army. With a soft spoken word, glass shards broke out around her body, and she summoned up the Ice Queen. Nepenthe: Entelien. A tall pale female burst out of her fingertips and began to pulse with white energy......painful, and screaming. The army stared. She was beautiful, but a marble statue....untouchable, and only interested in their descruction. She spoke. "Pitiful disgusting creatures.....now you shall taste my wrath and suffer as I have suffered."
The Harlequin
Kinrade had left Blaze and Lacroix to their fun, after noting that if this Drizzt was faster than Blaze, it would be inhuman. But then...Kinrade remembered the display he had seen when Lacroix picked up his battleaxe. Now that would be something to see.... Lacroix seemed as fast with that axe as Blaze had been, but that wasn't in battle. With an adrenalin surge.... Kinrade shuddered at the thought of ever fighting an opponent that skilled. He climbed the opposite tower, ignoring the prickling of strong magic behind him...all around him...in him. Unbeknowst to the minotaur, Belaaz stirred within him. He attributed it to other things, eldritch protections Lacroix had summoned. As he looked out over one of the other plains, he noted a dust cloud. Flankers. He quickly descended the wall, running out to meet the attackers. There were half a hundred of them, approaching fast. Kinrade ducked away, wondering what had possessed him to attack alone. Belaaz however, wasn't listening. He wasn't speaking either. He was shouting in Kinrade's mind, ripping through him like a sharp blade. Red edged darkness descended over the minotaur, and rose up, brandishing his battle axe. He tipped his head back, and let out a howl far more reminiscent of a wolf than a bull. The riders pulled up around him. They circled him, until a bristling steel hedge awaited him on all sides. Kinrade was past caring. He held up his hands, dropping his axe. He spread them wide....and flamestruck lances dropped from hands all around him. Several riders also fell. The riders cursed, and drew swords. The first one to come for the minotaur ended up being impaled through the throat by the creature's horns, giving Kinrade time to pick up his axe... When the minotaur came to, his first image was the arm hanging off his right horn. His second was the pool of blood that came to nearly his ankles, and the spray that surrounded the area of the fight for nearly a score of metres. He shuddered, and gripped his wrist. He let go, howling in pain. The mark of Belaaz was red hot, burning into him. He spun, and started a long, loping run back to the walls. This could not get out of control now.
Raiha
He retreated not a moment too soon. Ice shards bristled where he had been moments before, and as he turned to look..... Huge silver eyes enveloped him, and Nepenthe dragged him to one side. The Ice Queen shrieked with pleasure, and the Western Winds answered gleefully. Huge icicles burst out of the ground, impaling several soldiers at a time....then the blizzards exploded into place. Nepenthe leaned on her staff and smiled. The opposite of anything Lacroix had summoned...still doing an excellent job.
Talon
Blaze took the shattering snowfield as his turn to attack again, this time standing before the great, iron gates that lay open, picking up alarge boulder and chucking it square into a large group of blackguards. He walked up to another boulder, picking it up, and rolling it at high speed right into a cache of cavalry officers, then a marching infantry line, and it ended at a large rock golem that turned into a large pile of rock dust. Blaze then drew out his short sword and turned to Lacroix. Blaze:Might I have a drop of your blood? Lacroix:Why? Blaze:You both have had your summon fun, I want mine now. Lacroix:Alright, but nothing too powerful. I want this to be fun. Lacroix pricked his finger on the sword of the lumbering figure, who in turn pricked his own finger on the same spot. As the blood mixed, Blaze chanted a silent spell over the running, mixing blood. Soon, the blood transformed, melded, and grew. Within moments, a new demon appeared on the field. A large, horned figure shot out of the bloodportal, breathing flames lightly. Ifrit, the spirit of fire, gained a large fiery shield, then charged the oncoming army, blasting them backwards and charring a few infantrymen. Lacroix and Nepenthe looked at him sideways while Kinrade gaped. Kinrade:he's fast, strong, and he knows Ifrit....a powerful ally. Something about him is more than human, elf, or lycanthropic. No mortal is allowed near Ifrit....
