It's not to often I am exited about anything that has to do with the X-box, but being a fighting game junkie I am very interested in this game. It's being developed by Studio Gigante, of which I have near heard of, but John Tobias is also working on the game. For those of you who don't know John Tobias is one of the original creators of the Mortal Kombat series, you know back when it was good? Tao Feng will feature a lot of blood and gore just like MK. But not just blood, they will bruise, get bones broken, and get clothes ripped straight from their bodies, which sounds awesome. Plus the environment will be interactive, you will be able to jump off poles to propel your attack. Or so I have heard. Not to mention the token busting people through glass. In my opinion, it looks great, what are your thoughts?

Edit: Here are some screens.

I read about this a while back and I think that the game has potential. Tao reminds me of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance on steroids because it expands upon its art style. The characters look similar to the Mortal Kombat characters, but feature an insane polygon count; it's pushing something like 10,000 polys per character. So, the movement and tearing of clothing should look great, as well as the scarring effects.

The most exciting thing about the damage system though, isn't how it looks. The ability to target specific limbs and damage them to the point where they become useless sounds fresh and new. Think about it, it could add a lot of strategy to the game.

The environments you mentioned sound sweet too; not because they are littered with breakable objects, but because you can use them to your advantage (I.e., the poles you mentioned, and pinning people against walls). Once again, this can expand upon strategy in fights.

I'm anxious to see how this one turns out. ^^

I just hope it doesn't use a dial-up combo system like the earlier Mortal Kombat games.

This game looks really good and i really want to get it when it comes out in United Kingdom but i will have to wait unfortunately as i don't know when it will be available yet. The graphics look very detailed and the amount of gore and violence is cool. I heard you can cut and bruise your opponents and it actually shows which will be good does anyone know if this is true??

Yeah, the characters bruise and like Charles said, you can break limbs... Although I don't really get the point considering you can't do much with a broken leg. Apparently there are ways to heal though.

I think the game looks horrible. It's impressive how detailed and high-poly the models are... But the character designs are SO UGLY. On top of that, a lot of the character shots seem to want to sell the girls with sex appeal. I'm sorry, but an already hard to look at girl won't look any better bruised up with broken arms.

On top of that, I hear it doesn't play like anything special. No thanks.

Yes this is true Vercetti. This sounds an amazing game, it's got my two basic ingredients to be considered a worthy fighter.
1. Realistic (very in this case), but still have over-the-top combat.
2. Superb special effects!

Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus delivers a killer blow on both I would say by the looks of things.
During each fight you will see clothing tear, blood spill, bruises swell and even bones break!!! *Cringes* I heard there is also some fancy special moves, but maybe not as decent as MK:DA's fatalities! You just never know though. It sure does look amazing and I'm basically repeating Cyko's thread starter but you did ask Vercetti, so you were oblivious to what Cyko had posted obviously.

Other information: The game is based on two Chinese clans of superfighters seeking to uncover the secrets of immortality. The combat is fast paced with authentic fighting styles and interactive arenas that are completely destructable. Throw an opponent against a wall or a column and they'll take extra damage as a result of the imapact. Now this sounds extremely good as fighting games goes, but still I find these type of games have a short lifespan unless there is plenty of things to unlock or extra features/mini-games!

None the less this looks a classic beat-'em up! :demon:

Well, I can't say this game looks fascinating. The graphics seem impressive, and I like them idea of realistic bruising and broken limbs etc. but, as with most beat em ups, bouts rarely last longer than 5 minutes, so these effects won't really be noticed, especially by me, playing on my 14" television.

What do you want from a beat-'em up? Anyway you usually can change the settings to make more rounds or an unlimited time limit bout. Still I'm not sure if this will be a game for me. I've got one fighting game for the Xbox and that will do me for right now!

The effects are still amazing! :D

Well, what I meant was, it rarely takes longer than 5 minutes to knock out your opponent, as I don't find them that challenging. If I was going to by a beat em up, I'd be buying DOA:3, if I was going to buy a gory game, I would be buying House of the Dead III

I Think games with a mix of beat em up and gore are pretty cool and Tao Feng is going to be a great game in my eyes as i am a fan of fighting games and i feel i can release my anger out in fighting games especially beat em ups where you can just kick the crap out of someone and with blood and violence added it makes it that whole lot more realistic.

I was waiting for a game like this to come out, i always thought it would be cool to be able to destroy eacother(literally) in a 3-D fighter. However I think i will give this game a miss, i'm sure that other companies will take on the damage engine. Hopefully they will develop it into a better game...
The graphics are extremely good but that isn't what makes a game...The charater names aren't very good. "fiery phoenix", how lame is that!!!
I dont think that this game is going to be a massive hit but we'll have to wait and see.

After reading the latest impressions of this game, I think I'll be better off sticking with Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.

I wouldn't have had a problem looking past the thoroughly uninteresting character designs or exploitation of women if the game play had lived up to my expectations. Sadly, it seems that the developers fell into the common trap of reducing exciting new features into mere gimmicks.

The interactive backgrounds sound interesting. But, what's the point when the feature is unreliable? I've heard that it's like taking a gamble when you attempt maneuvers like swinging on poles. The damageable limbs don't seem to impact the pace of a match very much either. Lastly, the combo system is said to be disappointing--which a huge deciding factor for me.

Now that this and Kung Fu Chaos have let me down, I can only hope that the often delayed Raw 2 will deliver.
