master
Do you just hate math? you want to get out but you want a good grade I and a couple of friends have found ways to make most of are math teachers quit to go back to college:devil:. Dont wory it is all true. tell them i will bet you cant add all the #s beetween 1-100 faster then I can. answer is 5050. how I did it was I took 100 and split it in half then add 1 to a 100 then multiply 50*101=5050 or ask him what are the chance of geting to heads in a row. you say you cant tell it could land on tails all i want or it can go heads tails heads tails all your life. for more info just ask and I will tell this has been brought to you by the quiz masters of hilo
Juu
Umm... I don't really see too muchova conversation in this, but... An easier way to get a higher grade from your teacher is to talk to her about it. That always seemed to work for me. :whoops:
Posthumous
Yeah. I kept getting F's until I talked to her about it.My grades have been getting higher and my parents are happy. There more in the A's and B's area. I'm just happy i didn't have to do it all over again.

Kent
I hate math with all of my heart. I think I may have a specific form of dislexia that applies to math. I dont really know, and I do understand some, but Ive never done well with math and Ive always hated it. Im in a math class now. Its rediculus. I am an oddity in math. On test and placement exams, things like the SAT or the ACT, I have consistantly scored higher on the geometry and trigonometry than I have on algebra and pre-algebra. That is odd to me. But geometry comes to me easily and algebra is just craziness.
Juu
Well...actually... If you try to make your teachers feel bad, that's actually going to effect your grade, by making it lower one way or another. I'd suggest trying to talk to them. I've had plenty of mean/hard teachers before, and after talking to them, it felt kinda nice. ^_^ Not to mention I got a better grade.

If a math teacher is challenged to such an absurd task, it does not take much thought for them to figure out that you have prepared for it, and already know the answer. They will realize how pathetic your attempt is to actually come off smarter than they are, whether or not you really are. So really, the only fool there would be you. My algebra teacher already makes herself seem "odd" enough. Corny jokes seem to be her specialty. She always likes to go off on tangents... She pulled that joke the first day, lol. I was cracking up in my seat. ^^ This other girl and I were the only ones that got it, I think. Everyone else is pretty ignorant in the math area...

At least your math teacher doesn't go off into completely random subjects like wallpaper, calls from his grandchild about counting, crocuses (and how some things are better than being called one), car jacks, caves in Nebraska, blah blah blah blah blah... And since he tries to turn all of them into jokes, I got ya beat. :D --Mike "char, char!"

Lady Macaiodh
even though i'm rather good at it, math to me is like sliding down a razor blade into a pool of alcohol. this is why i love my graphing calculator. as long as we're telling ridiculous teacher stories, i've got a couple. my old algebra teacher used to wear the same pants every day, or at least one pair for days in a row. we knew this b/c one time he was sitting in front of the class as always but there was a huge hole in his crotch. the hole remained for several days. to prove that he rarely changed, my friend cam drew a smiley face on his butt w/ a marker when he was helping another student. he must not have noticed b/c the smiley face was there for a long, long time. it was really very distracting. i know teachers don't get paid much, but damn. go to the clothes closet or something.
Kent
I would have to say I still think its not a great idea to knock on your teacher. But its also a great way to pass the class by. I personally always go out of my way to hold my tongue with my teachers. Which is actually really hard because college profs. are all liberal as a motha and I just happen to be in the middle of things. So when they start spewing off about all the politcal stuff (dont ask why eng. teachers do that) I always have a different opinion. In the end, I think its best just to suck up to them. Although in highschool, its a bit different, your not paying to go to school and if you fail you get to try again with nothing besides a bad grade. In my case, I pay out the *** just to try. If I do well, great, if I do badly, well, that sucks and Im out a good 300 bucks. So sucking up just to make sure that the english teacher doesnt give me a bad grade for no reason is worth it to me. One day I will have the last laugh.
tabmow
Ah but as a Geometry teacher I would have to point out that the way you posed your question buy writting the numeric symbols 1-100 there are no s's there for the number of the sum of the s's is 0. or I could just say Sigma sub (1,100) S or just the summation of the number of s's from 1 to 100. Now sight the rules and justifications for your formula (or go back and read about Gauss) and leave your poor defenseless math teacher alone (Auctually its good to keep them on their toes - just remember who controls the red pen):) I just thought of something else as a poor broke teacher I'll take you bet at $20 you can add the numbers quicker , but I'll have lunch money for a week. :D Heh heh heh Please don't double post in the future, thank you.
Juu
Now that I look over that problem though... I've remembered something... One of my classmates pulled that on the substitute once, and all she said was, "Impressive. Can you multiply each of them? Perhaps since you seem to know so much about math, you can solve that problem and bring it back to me by third period. I assume you can do all this in you head also." I think that's when people stopped making fun of her name...
