Hybrid
I've been hearing about a fourth Mad Max film which will be titled 'Fury Road'. Mel Gibson will be back to play Max, he will be joined by the director and writer of all three previous films, fellow Aussie George Miller. Production is scheduled to start in May, 2003 at Fox Studios in Sydney, Australia and on location in Namibia on a budget of $104 million. This is the third sequel to Mad Max, the 1979 film starring Mel Gibson as a cop in a post-apocalyptic Australia. Mad Max was followed in 1981 by The Road Warrior, and in 1985 by Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. I'm really looking forward to this film, because I'm a big fan of the previous films, and I was wondering what you guys thought about this and if you know of a possible release date? Semjaza
I'm surprised they'd even bother after the horrible mess Beyond the Thunderdome was. I consider that one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Anyway, my friend told me about this a while back... Unfortunately, I have no new information to give you. I just hope it turns out okay. James
I saw bits and pieces of the first two films...but never really got into 'em. I never saw the third. So, who knows. I hope that they "modernize" the latest film though, because otherwise I don't think it will be seen as a very legitimate movie...in the sense that it'll be too retro to be taken seriously. Guest Musahi
Well I was in love with the first one. :) But when I saw the "Beyond the Thunderdome" movie that Semjaza mentioned, I almost puked. I don't know if it was edited because I saw it on USA. But that film was in a shambles. It either had no plot, or I just couldn't follow it. The acting was horrible and the action was pretty stale. I have not seen "The Road Warrior" and I don't think I want to. ^_^ I am going to look into this one though. Maybe some good could come to the series. Foredaddy
The Road Warrior was the first one I ever saw and it was one of best movies I ever saw that I thought was gonna suck. When the little crazy kid boomaranged that one dude in the head I was hooked. It would be cool if they came out with another Mad Max movie, but I really dont believe it. I has been almost 20 years. That is a long time, but Ive heard that there is gonna be another Indiana Jones movie with Harrison Ford so I guess it is possible.
Bing
I watched the first 3 movies with my dad, becuase he used to talk about scenes from them sometimes, and I didn't understand, so he got his tapes out and we watch. 'Beyond the Thunderdome' was, as has been said before, awful. I feel it let the previous movies down, and I fear that this might do the same.
Manic Webb
I've only seen "Beyond The Thunderdome" and the only thing I liked about that movie was the first two lines of the chorus of Tina Turner's song for the movie. I remember watching it on TV a few years ago. I remember Max doing something, then doing something else, then there was the thunderdome where everyone shouted "two men enter, one man leave", and then everyone was running around in the desert. In other words: "What the hell was the plot to that movie?" Does anyone actually know?
