Desbreko
Yeah, I only noticed that after I actually went back and played the original SSB. I miss that, too. One other thing I'd do differently from SSBM would be getting rid of that big "Ready" and "Go" text that appears just before and just as a match starts. It's not at all necessary, and just makes it so you can't tell where you're starting out until the match has actually begun and the CPU characters are already swarming you.
Spikey
I think they should put a stage from different games made by Nintendo. Either that or something like the one girl that you have to play with in the begging of GC: StarFox adventures. She's pretty cool. Though I still think the game has a great layout by itself. Maybe just a couple mistakes. Oh and also when they come out with the GameBoy Advanced SP, they should make in the background that you have that gameconsole. Then it would have all the Nintendo GameConsoles!
Turkey
Originally posted by Solo Tremaine I remember something else I'd like to see in SSB:M. It's not much, but I thought it was fun anyway. I remember in the original Smash Bros that each character had their own way of getting onto the stage (Fox was dropped off in an Arwing, Mario/Luigi from Warp Pipes, etc. I'd quite like to see those again, although trying to find ones for Marth and oy could be a bit of a problem. Nothing too serious, though. It was just a nice touch, I thought.
Heh. I remember the first thing I said when I started a match was: "Where are the intros!" I would be 10 levels beyond happy if the next game has those.
Xra
Does anyone know if Super Smash Bros. 3 is really comming out? If so are Sonic and Megaman gonna be in it? Jeeze I need to know!
Guest 9Eagle7Dragon
I think it would kick if they made a new SSB. I play melee and it rocks. My only question is: Can they improve on perfection? I think it would be cool if you could record games and play them back later.
Solo Tremaine
Originally posted by 9Eagle7Dragon I think it would kick if they made a new SSB. I play melee and it rocks. My only question is: Can they improve on perfection?
Well, as good as it was, it's not quite perfection. Damn close, but not quite. The CPU, as has already been said, I find would often win using cheap hits (e.g. hanging around a cliff edge and hitting you as you grab back on. *insert swear words here*), which annoyed me incessantly. Mind you, what more could you add, save for the odd character or two? The list of possible characters could be:

Link, Wind Waker style and numerous other variations
Wolf O'Donnell (I can dream)
Samurai Goroh
Ridley *hopes very muchly ^_^;*
More Pokemon
Birdo
Toad -________-
Krystal?
Pit
Some other obscure Nintendo Characters (like Eric the Bugman or whatever his name was)
And you may have a couple of levels around them. But really, it's not much to constitute an entire new game around it. I think, as unfortunate as it may be, that there's little more they can actually put in a new game without getting Mario Party syndrome.
boothten
I'm not to sure about ... all of your info. :bluesweat: SSB3 might come out, but I don't know about Sonic and/or Megaman being in it. I'll search for some info on the net and PM you when I find some info. :)
Posthumous
The Super Smash Bros. series is based around Nintendo characters only.So there will be no Megaman or Sonic.
Desbreko
Well, I haven't heard anything about a third SSB game. There could be another, though. As for Sonic and Megaman, Nintendo would have to make some deals with Sega and Capcom in order to have those two in the game. Sonic is probably the more likely of the two, though, since Yuji Naka, Sonic Team's president, seems to like the GCN quite a bit.
hiachi
Also nintendo seems to like Sega, they are actually working together on the next F-ZERO game, its a developer-developer relationship, not developer-publiisher, so i think N likes Sega enough to maybe.....include Sonic in the next SSBM?
Desbreko
Yeah, but that's Amusement Vision, not Sonic Team, that Nintendo is working with on the new F-Zero. Nintendo would have to make a deal with Sonic Team to have Sonic in an SSB game, since Sonic Team owns the rights to the Sonic the Hedgehog character. Still, Sonic is probably the most likely of any non-Nintendo character making it into an SSB game. And it would be very cool to be able to play as Sonic vs. Mario, heh. Edit: *realizes there are two threads about ideas for a new SSB, and merges them*
GhostofSalvtore
Well what other Nintendo characters could they use that they have yet to. So I think if they could get some deal where they would be able to use Sega characters then that would be great.
hiachi
Well Nintendo getting Sonic Team to let them use Sonic shouldnt seem too hard, Im pretty sure i remember hearing that Yuji Naka and Shigeru Miyamato are friends, or at least professionally friends........ Desbreko
Yeah, I think I remember hearing that Miyamoto said a while ago that he might be interested in working on a game together with Yuji Naka, though there were no plans. I wouldn't think it would be all that hard for Nintendo to get a deal with Sonic Team either, but who knows?
KrypToniK
what about Olimar from Pikmin? :p I think the next SSB will come out near the time when they anounce the next Nintendo console....Don't know though, well see. Hope it will be good. MORE CHARATERS!
Syk3
I'm thinking that there might be some Pikmin in the next Super Smash Bros, perhaps something like the Ice Climbers where there are more than one in a match. Sonic and Tails could be in the next one, although Nintendo would have to get permission from SEGA. On second thought, it's not too likely, even if they are the most wanted pair, since the idea of making Smash Bros in the first place was to have long-time Nintendo characters fight each other. It hard to say what they could do to make Super Smash Bros even better and have people come back for more. They really outdid themselves with Melee. GhostofSalvtore
Well I just don't see any new big name Nintendo players if there is a new SSB. So I would say they should get some deals with other companies to get characters like sonic. I always thought it would be cool to have Banjo and Kazooie but they are w/Microsoft now. Solo Tremaine
I'm not too sure about having characters from other companies chucked in. It makes it less special, I think. As has been said, it's all about Nintendo's all-stars. I don't think other characters would fit right. Going back to other things you'd like to see included- English speech for Marth and Roy, please. I really want to know what they're saying. It is quite nice having them speak in their original voices, as they've not been in an English-translated game yet to my knowledge (unless The Sword of Seals has been released already), but it might be nice to just have them being understandable. The same goes for Fox and Falco- if you switch the language to Japanese, they're actually quite talkative (as is Mewtwo, I think). I like hearing the characters talk, especially if their taunts are good (I'm glad they improved on Fox's from the original).
Xra
Attually they had the translations of marth and roy's japanese gibberish in an older issue of nintendo power, but i am too lazy to pull it out right now. From what i remember, marth's words were sorta valient and roy's were hotheaded and cocky.
Subversive
If Sonic comes I want Knuckles. He would own all, all I say! I would really like to play as these characters, I just can't see it happening. Megaman has no chance, I mean its Capcom, they don't seem to have relations. If you want to kill some stuff with Megaman, go to your arcade and play some Marvel vs. Capcom 2 ^^
hiachi
Well Capcom seems to have a good history with nintendo, almost all the MegaMan games have been on a nintendo system.......
GhostofSalvtore
And they have those Capcom exclusives "The Capcom 5" but those may not be all exclusive.
Subversive
They have a good history, but you don't see them making big plans together. Nintendo just gets out their Seal of Quality stamp and mashes the next Capcom title.
Desbreko
What about Capcom's work on the GBC/GBA Zelda games? Nintendo and Capcom worked pretty closely on those, and they did a really good job. From everything I've been hearing, Nintendo and Capcom have a pretty good relationship. Whether or not they'd let Nintendo use some of their characters in an SSB game, though, I have no idea.
