OOC: It seem's as though a few people slipped in before I got my post up, so I just edited the whole thing so that it would be less confuseing from what I had originally put up

~~~
Silvia turned to look as Paige walked out of the hut. She seemed slightly pale and at the same time anxious.
"So what? Are you really supposed to save the world then...?"
Silvia caught the look of disapproval that was on Ranhorns' face.
"You should show more respect to your superior's..." Ranhorn said under his breath. He had come forward as Paige had appeared. A red color seemed to blossem on Silvia's face. She had left her people just to get away from these kind of people. Alway's haveing to follow rule's and listen to your "supirior's"... This was not the first time that she had been told this.
Ignoring this Paige spoke of what she had been told in the hut.
"We need to find the other one, the man that is like me." Said Paige.
Silvia noticed that Nepenthe had dissappeared. There seemed to be an argument going on inside the hut. One of the voice's was Nepenthe's.
Silvia moved closer to the front entrance and pushed aside the flap to get a clear veiw of what was going on inside. From the tast in the air it seemed whatever was going on had caused alot of anger...
Nepenthe hissed at him, and for a moment....she seemed more spider than human. Her head seemed to flatten, and her hands clawed themselves involuntarily. The Chief backed away.... There was a glint in her eyes that frightened him. She was not someone he could write off as naivie....like the five bonded girl.
She bared fangs and growled deep in her throat.
Nepenthe: Back off our land.....and you just might live to see your children grow old.
He stared at her, face filled with unspeakable rage. She was out of his hands....and dangerous enough to the point where she would kill.....to get what the Yatherine's knew was theirs.
Silvia stared. She had never seen Nepenthe this dangerous looking before. And it was not something she wanted to see again. Nepenthe smiled and padded away...leaving the Cheif with his own problems.
Silvia backed into the shadow's as Nepenthe walked out. Silvia's eye's gave off a greenish glint as she spotten something moving on the floor. Silvia let out a soft hissing sound. The long creature on the floor stopped moveing. It's yellow eye's looked up at Silvia and then turned around and moved back out of sight.
Right now Saav would only cause trouble. And seeing how thing's were already going...
Looking back up Silvia saw the Cheif in the door way. He had a look of emmbarassment and anger on his face.
...Silvia just didn't want the snake to be here. Saav would only bring unwanted attention to her.
"So what do we do now?" Silvia asked. It was clear that thing's were only going to get worse if she stuck around here. Already haveing the dislike of the people, she didn't want to stay for another moment.
Rali watched the altercation with amusement. Like hell. As Nepenthe walked past, he came silently up behind her. He leant over her shoulder, and whispered softly in her ear.
Rali: Ah my dear, how unfortunate that the Yatherine and your precious Loloth do not command as much sway here as you have been lead to believe.
She whirled on him, angry. Her teeth bared like fangs. He smiled darkly, eyes swirling with energy.
Rali: A raven is not the connection to the spiritual realm for nothing.
Nepenthe: You wouldn't dare tempt their wrath.
Rali: Ah, my lost cathartic friend, I so already have.
His soft, breathy voice brought a slight smile to her face. His dark eyes held her a moment longer, then he disappeared.
She smiled and felt the side of her neck. Cool, and prickled....for how close he had been to her. Silvia looked preoccupied, but remained calm.
With a soft slidding motion, she slipped away into the darkness and climbed up an elm tree. she could feel him nearby, but refused to let herself become excited. It wouldn't be wise.
Rali: Afraid of me?
Nepenthe: Hardly. You wouldn't last with me...for more than ten seconds.
Rali: You think so?
Nepenthe: In bed.
Paige looked over to the snake that slithered quietly away from Slivia. It seemed as though Slivia seemed a bit...agitated. Paige stepped quietly behind her.
Paige: A friend of yours perhaps?Paige said quietly
Slivia: None of your business!She hissed back at her
Paige smiled softly and started to walk in the general direction the snake had gone. Since part of her was a snake she thought she might as well try and communicate with the animal. She walked a few more steps then bumped into a body. Paige looked up to see Slivia glaring at her.
Slivia: Where are you going? She asked trying to be as polite as she possibly could though Paige could see the colour rising in her cheeks.
Paige: I've just decided to go for a walk. I hope that isn't asking for much is it?
Slivia turned her back on Paige and mumbled.
Paige: Sorry I didn't catch that...
She turned around and Paige now saw that her face was a bright red.
Slivia: I said that you may do as you wish. I don't have power to stop you...My...Lady.Every word that she spoke dripped with sarcasm and udder revulsion. She turned on her heels and walked away.
Paige couldn't help it but smile.
Rion walked behind Seborl, he couldn't help but chuckle and smile, he'd had alot of fun with those kids especially throwing at least twenty pinecones at Seborl who had been screaming his lungs out in his high voice. Now that the council was over he had nothing really to do. He'd be free until the next new moon when they'd give yet another council. Seborl's voice broke his thoughts
"You will have to-"
Rion didn't let him finish,
"Seborl, Do you think I'm really the Chief now?" Rion asked.
"Yes, of course I do." Seborl replied, looking a little confused.
"Then quit telling me what to do." Seborl was not expecting this and looked shocked, but Rion continued,"Therefore I'm going to go away for a few weeks arriving in time for the next council, If I'm late, then do the same thing we did this time, you all discusss it and when I get back explain it."
Seborl opened his mouth then stopped and finally said, Well then, Good bye,"
Yeah, bye! And If a situation comes up you take charge and do what my father would do!"
Rion turned around and headed towards the border, he was going to go to new territory. Heading right over the Bear clan's borders. Just as the sun was setting, and dusk fell. Covering the land and leaving no traces for Seborl to follow Rion headed out.
Silvia rounded a corner, deep in her own thought's. Looking over her shoulder's Silvia could see that she had walked quite a distance. The camp was, although not to far, now shrouded in the few trees there were.
Up ahead there was a boulder with a tall and thin sapling leaning over it.
Hopping onto it Silvia leaned back and looked up at the sky.Takeing a deep breath she cleared her mind and let herself relax. A long green snake slowly lowered itself onto Silvia's shoulders, slowly wrapping itself around her. It's eye's came on level with her own as is hissed a soft question.
"No, I'm not angry at you. I'm just feeling a bit tired."
The snake hissed out a nother few "words" as it lowered it's head onto her chest.
"Very kind of you to offer, but I don't think Mi'Lady or the other people at that camp would like it if you bit them. I'm trying not to make enamies here if you haven't noticed."
Saav glanced up at her, it's molten yellow eye's giving off a hint of inntellegence as it spoke yet again.
"Yes. Blending in is a good idea but as you and a few other's already stated, I'm not the most trustful lookin' character."
Silvia looked up at the sky once more before dozing off into an uneasy sleep. Her mind and body alert and ready to jump at the first sign or sound of danger.
Saav slowly moved and slithered off to whatever buessness he had planned for himself.
Paige walked along the camp looking for any signs of the strange snake that she had seen. She walked a few steps more and saw a very slight line across the soft sand. Paige bent down, picked up some sand, and rubbed it between her fingers.
It felt slightly warmer than the sand around her which meant that the snake was not far away. She got up again, brushed the sand from her clothes and her tail, and started to follow the snake trail.
Before long she saw Slivia ahead of her sleeping on a rock. Paige looked around but saw no snake near her. She sighed and began to walk the other way when she spotted the thin trail off to the side.
Paige started to follow it again then stopped in her tracks. Maybe I should just leave it alone.She thought. Even if it has any connection with Slivia I'm sure that she means no harm to anyone.
As Paige began to head back towards the camp's center, she heard a cold voice from the forrest.
Voice: Where are you going?
Paige quickly whipped around to see a stern Ranhorn leanning against his long Halberd.
Paige: Why are you following me?
Ranhorn: To protect you.
Paige: I can take care of myself, thank you very much.
Ranhorn: That may be true, but my cheif has intrusted me with your safety, and so I must protect you.
Paige: So what, your like my bodyguard now?
Ranhorn: In a manner of speaking, yes. I am to accompany you on your quest.
Paige: And what about the others?
Ranhorn: Although it is against my judgement, the cheif tells me that they too must come, as they are all powerful warriors. And this will be a long and perilous journey.
Ranhorn began to walk towards Paige. However, instead he simply walked past her.
Ranhorn: Come, we must make preperations. Our search will begin soon. And wake the snake-girl. We have a feast being prepared.
Rali folded his arms and burst into uproarious laughter, one eyebrow cocked.
Rali: Though you certainly wouldn't be willing to prove that.
Shalistrae: Not this soon my pet.
Rali: Ah well. I suppose raven's tend to become familars, after all.
He leapt up, catching the branch she currently resided on. With a single sinuous motion resembling a sailor's slither, he shot himself onto it. The branch rocked ever so slightly, but that was it.
He stood, finding his balance easily. Stretching languidly, he looked at her through the dim light.
Rali: And tell me this. Why the sudden interest in such a birdlike perch. Is this perhaps your new lair, where you have sewn your silken trap?
Paige sighed and left Ranhorn's side to go and wake up Slivia. She came within a few feet of Slivia and started to reach out. Suddenly Slivia jumped up and hissed at Paige. When she realized who it was her distain didn't really lessen.
She frowned
Slivia: Why'd you wake me up?
Paige: Ranhorn apparently has made himself my personal guard. He said to wake you up because of some feast.
Slivia: In your honour I presume?
She sneered and walked away from Paige and pushed Ranhorn out of her way. Paige just shrugged at him and followed after wondering how she had gotten herself into this situation in the first place.
She smiled at him easily, and flicked a peice of silvered thread at him. He caught it, then let it fall to the ground...Nepenthe winked and leaned against the bole of the tree....scratching her back.
Rali: You like tempting fate. Don't you?
Nepenthe: Without it, life would be so boring.
Rali: And you like tempting others too.
Nepenthe: I'm a Yatherine. It's in my blood.
Rali: Of course. Personally, I've never made it a habit to tempt fate.
Shalistrae: I'd like to know the reasoning behind that.
Rali: Simple. I don't bother tempting it....I just give it the finger.
Shalistrae laughed softly, as Rali took a step closer and sat down. His legs hung easily over the side of the branch, arms folded in his lap.
Shalistrae: But you do find it tempting, don't you? You find yourself caught in the silver net.
Rali: Of course. But then, holding the leash can be much worse than wearing it.
Tao woke with a start to the smell of smoke.
He flung off the sheets and grabbed his cloak and ninjato.
He peered outside the wind, barely visible, and saw some Wolf-Men setting fire to his village. He snarled and leapt out the window. The Wolf-Men stopped and staired at the mysterious person that now stood before them. Tao whipped out his sword, decapitating one of the Wolves. The other three stared at the body, then lunged, slavering at the mouth. Tao leapt over one, severing it's spinal cord with one cut. He turned around, cutting open the belly of another. The third wolf grabbed a jagged hunk of wood and jabbed it at Tao. Tao grabbed it in his hand and broke of the majority of it. He quickly cleaved the final Wolf from hip to shoulder in one, fluid movement.
Tao flicked the gore from his blade with the ancient shiburi motion before returning the Ninjato to its sheath.
"Since I'm up..." he muttered as he drew on his cloak and turned towards the village where his payment was.
It had been a good day.
She nodded thoughtfully.
Shalistrae: It is easier to be a slave than a master.
Rali: Which to you prefer?
Shal: I like to know the plans of my superiors.....but obey.
Rali: Do they include me?
She smiled and swung down to his level. Her fingers tapped against the side of her head and she winked.
Shalistrae: All part of the plan.
Rali: Then I am involved.
Shalistrae: Oh, you weren't originally. I may find a use for you yet...
Rali: Which means there's no way I could ferret out exactly what I'm in for.
Shalistrae: You could try being nicer....
When they got back to the settlement Paige noticed that the spider lady and the mistereous person were still gone from the camp.
It seemed that Slivia noticed it too.
Slivia-"Where's that other one that was with us?" She asked Ranhorn totally ignoring Paige.
Ranhorn-"I don't know. Well if they don't come back soon they'll miss the feast."
Paige-"Some how I don't really think they care about the feast." She muttered to herself.
Ranhorn-"What was that?"
Paige-"Nothing. Nothing at all."
Rion woke with a start, he had heard something up ahead he was a little jumpy now that he was in the Pack Clan's territory. He gazed up intently staring into the night. He saw a pibbit, he let it go he wasn't really hungry. Suddenly he saw a village sillouetted by it's fire's flames, Rion's nerves jolted he had never met anyone from the pack clan, but he wanted to meet them. He looked at the village and decided it looked like it was about five or so miles away not that far. But for right now he would rest, maybe take a nap.
Draagul awoke feeling refreshed. Taking some water from his waterskin, he splashed some on his face. Testing his wings to make sure he had no cramped muscles, Draagul stretched and yawned. He felt that today was going to be a good day. Running a little ways, Draagul jumped into the air and spread his wings. He caught a thermal and rose hundreds of feet into the air. He didn't fly much but when he did, it was exilerating(sp?). He fly for hours until he was tired and then made his way to the outskirts of the Pack Clan encampment. He decided to try some night hunting...
Rali: Sorry, it goes against my grain.
The female licked her claws lazily and purred. He was, despite her initial reluctance, starting to grow on her. She smiled and savored the bitter taste of blood in her hands. He watched her quietly. Shalistrae Lifé seemed very calm, but inside, he could sense a sort of smouldering resentment towards the packs of humans near them.
Rali: Do they bother you?
Shal: A bit.
Rali: Why?
Shali: When they're all together...humans resemble sheep.
Rali: And are you the shepherd?
Shali: Haha no. It stands to reason. The spider clan is separated, and only comes together once a year...or to fight.
Rali: Well, at least sheep can contain surprises.
Shalistrae: And spider's can't?
Rali: Oh, you know you're going to get manipulated and basically screwed over when dealing with arachnids. It's a refreshing change when your average sheep pulls off the same trick.
Shalistrae: And have they?
Rali: You're still here, aren't you? And I'm still here.
Shalistrae: That's because the only way a sheep can get out of a tree is by falling.
Rali: You could try being nicer....
Shalistrae smiled serenely.
Shalistrae: ...when you try being smarter.
Rali threw back his head in a torrent of rakish laughter.
 • 2 weeks later...
Shalistrae smiled and took the oppertunity. Moving with blurring speed, she crouched to the bole of the tree and swooped her leg out underneath his feet. He plummeted to the ground and landed on his feet just in time. He looked up at her laughing face....and waved.
Rali: That wasn't nice.
Shalistrae: ...sorry I couldn't help it. Sheep.
He smiled and quietly climbed back up, ignoring her low whispery chuckles. ....they distinctly reminded him of something from too long ago.
Rali reached the branch she was sitting on, reclining against it, looking at her idly. She looked up at him, smiling. He looked back, one corner of his mouth coming up.
He took a step forward, placed a hand on her shoulder. She looked up at him, half surprised, and probably half affronted. He didn't give her a chance to react. He leapt to the side, and they both fell out of the tree.
He landed on his feet. She landed in his arms. And not even on purpose.
Rali: Interesting.
She stepped down, looking at him in derision. He gave another cryptic smile back.
