BigCajones
I think the X-Box is finally getting to a point where it's proving people wrong about how good the console is and the abilities of the console itself. Here is a few departments where I think the X-Box beats other consoles: -Graphics (250MHZ NV2A) -Memory/Storage (64 Megabytes of RAM/8GB) -Power (733MHZ) -Audio (Dolby Digital 5.1) -Online gaming (X-Box Live) Also other little things like DVD which is good, no need for memory card and you can play a CD on your X-Box while playing on some games. All these new games that are coming out look great too, most I saw pictures from the X02 showings. Has anyone changed there mind about the console? PS2 is definetely the best in terms of sales, but it has been out alot longer and has developed a vast variety of games. I think in 2003 there will be a change in terms of the 'best', but we can discuss that later on through out the year at the moment I just want your opinion on the X-Box. Feel free to criticise! :box:
Tommy Vercetti
I think the Xbox is picking up also. I like the idea of creating your own custom soundtracks for games as it makes them ore fun. The idea about the hardrive is cool but unless you would want to use data around another friends house then you would need a memory card. I also like it that there are 4 controller ports because with the pS2 you had to buy an additional multitap if you wanted to have 3 or 4 people playing. At Christmas Xbox did sell quite well agaisnt the game cube but i think the PS2 beat the xbox but i mean the ps2 has been out for ages and has alot going for it. The xbox is the fastest console with the best graphics so that usually means loading screens take less time as well and with Xbox live coming out i think this will be a big success if lots of people have broadband and with the microphone and talking and communicating with other people should be really fun. BigCajones
The more I think about it I don't think X-Box Live is going to be a great success well not the key player in 'saving' the X-Box. It sounds a bit of a failure, but I'm not sure how it will compare to the PS2's and Gamecube's online system. It may do better, not sure, but I myself don't have broadband which is a bit of a shame. I don't get how the yearly fee works or the subscription, but hey I won't be getting it for a while anyway. Although I find Halo may have been a big factor in boosting the X-Box I find it highly overated. I'm sure Halo 2 will be a big hit though as well. The sales did beat Gamecube yes, but I'm expecting both consoles to do better this year in the sales. Who here on OB finds the X-Box a bad console (please state reasons!)?
iggy
THe Xbox is now growing in popularity which must be a dream come tru for Bill Gates. If they drop the price a bit more it would be even better!
Bing
Well, I think it's a damn good price for such a great console. I think X Box live have a huge effect on the popularity of the Box, becuase this has never really been done properly before, and there is a lot of anticipation around the whole concept. I am very pleased with my X Box. The games are great, I love the controllers, and I haven't found anything wrong with it. I find the game prices a bit expensive, £40 odd for a disc is a bit ridiculous, but, I guess that's how they make their money! I think Halo, as Cajones said, is extremely over rater, and it's not my type of game. I love the soundtrack option, as I do play a lot of records back through my Box while playing games. I like that 4 controller ports, and I donb't understand why PS2 never picked up on that, I guess that's why I odn't see it as a great muliplayer console, because you have to fork out to get a multitap. I just want a few more things for the X Box - Dance mats and Light Gun games. Oh by the way, I do know about House of the Dead 3 before you recommend that, but I want a happy happy shooting game, like Rescue Shot, or Point Blank 3.
iggy
Well I still think Xbox isnt as good as the playstation 2 but for that price its a damn good system It is better than gamecube but I think the graphics PS2 has are a little better but otherwise its one of the best consoles made. It could also use some more games, I just need a little more variety to choose from.
Bing
Ah, if you ask me, the X Box graphics reign over every other system available. In a years time, it will have a massive game library. It already does have a huge amount, compared to others, and for how long it has been out I think it's a big and unsteady increase. Be prepared for loads more games!
BigCajones
Yes the increase of games is on the rise for the X-Box (and the other consoles), not just that a really good variety from X02! I agree it has the best graphics and it is a fact among other things I mentioned on the thread page. :) Although there isn't too much of a difference from some games, just that slight bit extra quality. X-Box are creating their own games, multi-format games and remakes or re-releases whatever you want to call it. To a better quality, well that's an argueable question, I've seen in various remakes X-Box have put in some extra features addons which are cool, not forgetting some of these games will be on X-Box Live for a wicked experience! X-Box has gone up in my ranks the last few months, but I'm not forgetting my other consoles and the great success of the PS2! :)
Tommy Vercetti
Hmmm what would you guys comment about on the size of the xbox? When i first saw it i thought god that is one hell of a big console and it must weigh a tonne lol. When i actually took out of the packaging i compared it to the PS2 size and it isn't that much bigger i don't think although it is pretty damn heavy.
BigCajones
Well I think it's basically the same size length wise, but probably a bit more chunky width wise. It's heavyier and would sure knock someone out if it dropped on their head! I'm not terribly bothered about this but I find the Gamecube to win on size, it's just compact, mini and well they have released more colours and so on. I know X-Box have been releasing limited edition consoles, but they aren't coming out in England I doubt. I find the X-Box has done more for its size having for controller ports to PS2's lame two ports. Gamecube didn't really need a big console for the small, but cool, disks they have and the PS2 and X-Box have a DVD drive if you look at it like that. No console really wins a size battle really, although I will be very interested in each of these console's sequel (Hopesfully by then Sony would of picked up on the four controller ports :) )! The best console for size in the GBA: SP that is alot more grown up than the recent Gameboys and looks/sounds well class for its size! X-Box big console, big system, big hits! :demon:
Bing
I totally agree. I am glad that the console is big, because I'm really proud of it! It's not actually that big, but it is a bit chunky. I think the Gamecube disks are pathetic. I am really pro-cartridges. I want to see another cartridge console. But, they are really expensive to make. Well, the title of your thread is 'What Do You Think Of The X Box', and all you really have to do, is look at the popularity of the Microsoft Forum, and your question is answered! I kinda want to hear from someone who is anti-X Box, but I don't suppose people who hate it even look in this forum!
BigCajones
Anti X-Box members please comment!!! I too want to hear from anti X-Box players, because I enjoy making a point or at least trying to lol. I try not to favour a console, but I usually end up doing it, I like my consoles all the same for varied reasons! :box: I know there must be some members who dislike the X-Box ...
Bing
Cajones, this is the Microsoft forum, people who don't like the X Box, don't look in here, I made that pretty obviousin my previous threads. I will try and alert some people to come in here, so this can become a good discussion, so until then, farewell!
Syk3
No, I despise the console! Lol, hopefully this will stir up a bit of controverseh. Personally, I don't really like the XLax...I-I mean XBox. Maybe it's just a grudge I've held from day one, but it's never really made me want to get one. Sure, it has some strong hardware and potential, but I don't see that many great games coming from it other than a few, such as Splinter Cell, Panzar Dragoon Orta, Halo, and Jet Set Radio Future. I'm not really a fan of online games either, which this system seems to be doing more than the other two by far. I don't have broadband, and I don't plan on getting it either, because of the price and because I'm happy with the 56k on my brand new computer right now. I really don't like what Microsoft is charging to play these games online, and it doesn't look like it's going down any time soon. Maybe this is the future of gaming, or maybe this is just a prime example that we will use in the future of something that we should never attamept to do. Next, the appearance. Now everyone knows what I'm talking about here, lol. The systems itself is huge. o_o;;; I usually like to bring my systems in the car sometimes, and I'm not sure where I would fit the XBox, much less the controllers. And the controllers indeed. Although my younger 12-year-old brother loves the XBox controller, I don't like it, new controller or not, and I'd continuously accidently hit other bottons when reaching those higher up on the controller. I also hear that the XBox has a tendancy to over-heat, whereas if you are playing the system all night, it suddenly stops playing the CD. What I heard that one kid did was take off the top of the console, but I don't want to mess with all that, and the system will look like crap. The XBox does have a DVD player, but you might as well not even compare that to the GC, because you need to pay extra to watch DVDs, and you could have just gotten the Panasonic 'Cube. All of these extras that the XBox makes you pay extra for...ack. >_< I'm hoping that the XBox will step up it's performance in the future. The price isn't too bad, but I've heard way too many stories from friends who just keep their XBox in the closet to take advantage of that. Besides, the only people I know that own XBoxs own every other next-generation console, and XBox was their last buy. It's just not the system for me. *shrug* That's why I have PS2 and GC, and not XBox.
BigCajones
I have to agree with you there on a few points. I don't particularly like any of the X-Box's extra addons and find it annoying when you also have to pay for them. I'm not in an advanced enough stage for this online gaming mallarkey. You don't have to pay extra to listen to custom CDs ... I don't think. On to the controllers well I hate the big chunky controller too, but if you try out the compact 'S' controller it's rather simular to the PS2 controller if you ask me (few differences). I have to disagree though when you say I don't see many great games coming out. I think there is many good games coming out this year. About the same or more than the other competing consoles! *Forgets what was going to say* (annoying  ). Anyway I don't really take my X-Box anywhere so I'm fine. :p What a coincidence I got my X-Box last as well, PS2 had been out a lot longer though. I had the same opinion as you had several months ago *points to beginning of Console War thread*, but until you try this chunky wonder you will never know really. I didn't want this console, my parents got me it for christmas I mean I wasn't exactly going to turn it down and now two months later I'm pretty happy that they did! :D I like my consoles all the same, each has a different quality that stands out better. X-Box is probably it's Hard Ware and potential in the game itself (graphics and so on), but by the end of the year it will have a much widened selection of games as well! It is pretty cheap, so if you have the money I advise you to get it! I haven't heard anything on the burning of the console, but I will look into it. If you take your X-Box places then you get to save well loads of room actually. You don't need to carry a memory card so think yourself lucky lol. *Lecture finishes* ... For now :demon:
GhostofSalvtore
Well Xbox like you said has good games, but not great ones, not really a system-seller stand-out other than Halo.(Which is what got me to buy it) but still what else is there.....Halo2? ( I own Splinter Cell as well, but thats goin to other consoles as well) So I really dont know what Xbox exclusives there are but maybe there will be some in the not so distant future. BigCajones
Noooo! That is so annoying, I just sat and wrote you out a massive list of X-Box exclusives (it didn't post  ). Anyway their is many other X-Box exclusives other than just Halo and Halo 2, you obviously haven't been looking very hard have you lol? :p If X-Box do re-makes or multi-formatted games I tend to find they do them to a high quality (graphics, sound, etc.) and sometimes put in some extra features. :D I will edit this later with some games, but basically you name the genre you think X-Box lacks in and I'll name a game for you (please do)! :toothy: EDIT: Shenmue 2 isn't exclusive, if you didnt know where it originated from then it's Dreamcast. MGS2: Substance won't be exclusive because it is going to the PS2.
Bing
Well, I think MGS:Substance is going to be X Box exclusive for a while. Shenmue II and Dead To Rights, are also X Box only (I think?!) Halo was not really my attraction, as I don't think it's all that good. What really attracted me to the X Box, was the price of the system, and the deals (3 games free), and alos the fact that I didn't own any other of the leading consoles(X Box, Gamecube, PS2). Did anyone here buy it for the full price ($400 or whatever it was)?

I have the original game, but this is supposed to be so cool, I'm ganna get it! And that's the thing; previous XBox exclusives are going 3rd party now to other systems as well. Splinter Cell is a good example - and it even has extra levels I hear! I don't like the 'Box because they don't offer that many amazing titles exclusive to that system. That alone led me to buy the GC.

Bing
Well, actually, the deal my mother did, got me 3 games free, and I believe that was a deal available, for a set price of £159.99. So bleh, Mr. Knowitall. Yo Syk3, get this, Substance hasn't even been released for the X Box here! And, these games may be similar, but they are all different in small ways. Tony Hawks 1, 2 and 3 are all nearly exactly the same, but they still sold very well! I know they are all multi-format, but it's still the same idea. Those little comparisons bring up anotquestion...Why buy a new game, when it's the same as another?
BigCajones
Well there was a deal over in England with four games for £200. I think that is going to be put down in price soon. Alexus is correct by the way (this is based in England). Right here are some exclusives that haven't been mentioned: Unreal Championship Jet Set Radio Future Sega GT 2002 Gun Valkyrie Blood Wake Dead Or Alive 3 Enclave Azurik: Rise Of Perathia Bruce Lee: Quest Of The Dragon Gun Metal Quantum Redshift Circus Maximus Chase Phantom Crash: Blue Sky Brings Tears Genmna Onimusha Hunter: The Reckoning Buffy: The Vampire Slayer Deathrow MechAssault Crazi Taxi 3 Wreckless: The Yazuka Missions Mao Dash Racing Blinx: The Time Sweeper Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee Shrek Fuzion Frenzy Loons: The Fight For Fame Fable Panzer Dragoon Orta Team SAS Project Gotham Racing 1 and 2 Perfect Dark 0 Kameo: Elements of Power Crimson Sea Kakuto Chojin ToeJam & Earl III: All Funked Up Sudeki Ninja Gaiden Deus Ex 2 Soul Calibur 2 The House Of The Dead III Racing Evoluzione Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic BC Kung Fu Chaos Tao Feng: Fist Of The Lotus Dead Or Alive Volleyball Many more, and some are going to PC which I didnt mention. Phew! :) Now what was that about not many exclusives??? Name a genre you would want games in and I will try and reply a good game for the X-Box! Anyone else got any bad comments about the X-Box?
Bing
I've said this somewhere else, but I want a game, that is a cross between Final Fantasy VIII and Blade II. I've been recommended Shenmue II, but to be honest, it sounds painfully long. What do you all think?
BigCajones
Hmm I'm guessing that would be an action RPG then? Baldur's Gate: Deadly Alliance maybe what your looking for. Deux Ex 2 is like an RPG/FPS. Sudeki is an RPG with Dead Or Alive 3 fighting which looks really good too. The best RPG will be Fable in my eyes still though. :)
GhostofSalvtore
But out of al those exclusives which really do you want to get? I mean I can see a few on there that are good rentals but as of right now I havn't seen any that are good to buy cept RAW 2 which I hear is delayed.
