Not to sound rude, its just i've been going to a league thingingy and there are these little kids and all they do is try to act like Yami Yugi, and all i wanna do is so what people in anime do. Take my hand and smack it onto my face and drag it down my face and just say HOY VE!!!! Please can someone answer this?? Sorry if this is spam. You can't tell me you've never once said something without thinking of or sounding a little like Yami. It's impossible if you've watched any of the shows and have some of the cards he's used. Even I've done it once, playing Curse of Dragon. I didn't mean to, but it happened. But doing it intentionally to excess (i.e. with every move and taunting inbetween) is too much. But you know, the game and anime are both intended for kids, after all. So you can't expect everyone to be completely serious about playing. And anyway, it's interesting to have a little emotion when playing, to make things a bit more interesting. You don't have to dress up like Kaiba or anything, but you have to do something to keep a little of the fantasy atmosphere up, to make it fun for observers, too (assuming there are any). Otherwise it's basically just doing maths and reading/looking at pictures. Besides, Yami is a cool character. I haven't seen him duel much, but he does do some impersonations when dueling. It's kind of wierd. Lately he's been acting like a Rare Hunter. I have to admit, though, I have wanted to act like Yami Bakura in at least one duel, but I'm not to good at impersonating his British accent. I've also wanted to act like Yami Yugi. Like when we lay down Relinquished or something we'll make a silent scream just loud enough to hear, like a crowd going wild sort of. I used to mimic pegasus quite a bit, because that's who my playing style reminded all of my friends of. I'd copy his mocking "Oh NOOOooo...." from the Kaiba duel, made all sorts of strange manuvers that confused the heck out of my opponents. Man-Eater Bug-ing my own Blue Eyes, for example, when it obviously gave me the upper hand. Or sacrificing Relinquished as Tribute for Relinquished. X D EDIT: And I AM a very serious player of the game. I don't have the experience people like Altron have, nor the flabergasting collections, but I'm still very serious at the game. I do the fun stuff just for that-fun. Or to distract an opponent. Sometimes, I just have to sing "Which!..One!...will you attack?" while pointing at different monster cards to bluff an opponent into not attacking! It's so funny! Anyways that is true, most of the kids that act like that are the ages you mentioned Catzbane, i mean i have no problem with people goofing off but when they are dueling and [i]trying[/i] to act like the characters and they can't even pull that off and all they do is annoy you, thats what gets under my skin. Although i do have to say i am quite envious of some of your cards...i quite seriously need to improve my deck big time if i was ever to challange any of yours (although unlikly). Guest GriffXL Posted February 18, 2003 Share Posted February 18, 2003 yea it does get a little annoying at some times but i do it myself w/ my friends at school. we kinda make fun of the fact they get whatever card they need most of the time on the anime like if its our turn one of us will say i will some how draw the card that will help me out most. it has actually worked one time lol i needed dark hole and bam! we even say heart of the cards guide me lol but its all for fun.
