NeoCactuar
I recently saw this movie and thought it was great. I have always been a fan of Michael Moore, and liked this most out of all of his movies. The thing that surprised me the most was out of all the people interviewed in the film, Marline Manson, who some blamed the massacre at columbine for, had the most intelligent things to say. When asked what he would say to them on the morning of the shootings, when they were thinking about it, and he was the only one who said "I wouldn't say anything... I would listen to what they have to say" What are your thoughts on this movie?
treton_noir
i havent heard about it, but youve really peaked my interest. im assuming you meant "marilyn manson". right? he is a very intelligent man and doesnt get a lot of credit for it. people get so caught up in the face-value of everything that they miss a lot of important stuff. how would i be able to view this film. im sure its not in theatres. is it on vhs/dvd for rental, or what? id like to see it. Sui Generis
That sounds really interesting... And the fact that he interviewed Marilyn Manson....even more intersting, that man is one brilliant man... Well both of them...
Semjaza
I'm pretty sure it's already out on DVD. The Manson comments were nothing special to me... but I keep up on things he does, so it's stuff I've been hearing from him since the start. I guess other people wouldn't have that option really. He is far more intelligent than many people ever realize. It's a decent movie, although it obviously has its own agenda and goes about things so it will get certain answers... At least in my opinion. It's flawed in that sense, but it's still worth seeing.
NeoCactuar
Yeah, i used to stereotype Marilyn Manson because he sung about stuff that you could say wasn't PC. But he is really very intelligent, and i share many of his viewpoints. Now I listen to his music as well, heh. I still find it amazing that people can put the blame on someone like him, just because the two teenagers listened to Marilyn Manson, certain members of the public use him as a scapegoat. Semjaza
That's not true either. They were not fans of Manson whatsoever. In fact, they said many times that they outright hated his music. They were more into stuff like KMFDM and Rammstein honestly. That all stemmed from some girl's comment about what she thought they were like. She didn't even know the two and better than you or I would have at that point. Still, it didn't stop the media from targetting Manson (I cannot tell you how many magazines put pictures of his albums in Columbine articles), even after it was revealed that they weren't fans. NeoCactuar
Really? I thought that the listened to the CD (Mansons's) the morning before the shooting, at least that?s what one of the kids mums said. Then the cops found the CD in their CD player. Lol, i am talking like the CD was a piece of evidence or something.
Semjaza
From what I read after a lot of that died down, they didn't like Manson. I've seen their site, where they also make fun of him anytime they even mention him. There were a few news outlets that started focusing more heavily on Rammstein after it was learned that they didn't listen to Manson... I remember all these shows referring to them as "German hate music," I assume simply because of their only truly popular song here which was Du Hast (which has very little with actual hate if you know what they're singing about lol). Oh well, things get confused I guess.
treton_noir
for the public, the blame has to go somewhere. its easier to put it on somebody who is in a position to take it, i.e. manson or rammstein. side note-a friend and i translated rammstein's "sehnsucht" and, as far as content and subject matter are concerned, its best left in german. TheShinje
Even tough i disLike Marilyn Manson for what he has to say about christians. I feel he shouldn't have been scapegoated by the medai like that. After all, I listen to Rammstein, I'm not a cold blodded mass murderer. I am going to see this movie when it is out in New Zealand.
