Bing
Hello my fellow musicians! So, I would like to know what instruments you play, and if you are in a band. Can any of you sing, and what is your style? Look forward to hearing about your talents! --AB-- ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* So, I play electric guitar. I own a Westfield Stratocaster, which is blue, with a pearl scratchplate! I've been playing since June, and I would say I am improving fast. I'm in a group, we are so far nameless. The other members are Russ (Weh) and Tom (Smelly). We are still trying to hunt down a singer and a drummer. We had a singer, but then we realised he couldn't sing very well. We aim to play punk, rock, metal and just covers. We are only just starting up, and we are trying to write our own stuff, but it's proving extremely difficult.
Semjaza
I used to play the alto saxophone in grade school. The teacher moved me to be the only tenor player in the school, for who knows what reason. I must admit, I like it far better than alto heh. I wound up playing it til senior year in highschool... I quit because I didn't think band was worth getting up at 5AM every morning for. The school still uses my saxophone, I have to go pick it up... but the place is so out of my way. I also play electric guitar. I just have a crappy Epiphone. I wanted a neon pink guitar, but I just couldn't find one... Someone wound up buying me one that looks like burnt wood. I suppose it's a nice style heh. Otherwise, I play keyboard. I lent it to a friend, so I don't remember the exact model number... But it was a Yamaha, I think PC305 or something simliar to that. I honestly never played it a lot, but I can read music to it. I mostly used it for its midi in capabilities so I could mess with stuff on my PC. Rhys Mayiessen
I use to play the clarinet but then I decided I wanted to try out for the saxophone. So now I play the Alto Saxophone and have been playing it for three years now. I also play the piano but I'm only in grade four. I think I started about two years ago. Well that's all I play for now and I really can't sing...so I won't be doing that anytime soon.
Syk3
I actually used to play the Cello. You know, the big string instrument that's not quite as big a the Base (sp.?)? Yeah, I chose that in fourth grade because in the performances, we got to spin them to a certain song. ^_^ Gotta love spinning that Cello! Plus it got me out of classes in elementary school. In middle school, I continued playing but barely ever practiced at home. The teacher always told me that if I never practiced and didn't turn in a practice sheet (to make sure we were all working at home) that we would get a 'C', but I would go through entire marking periods without practicing and always get a 'B'. I guess I was...good? o_O I doubt it. I played the Cello through 6th and 7th grade, and I continued when I moved in the middle of the 7th grade. At my new school, however, the motivation to play just wasn't there, since the class was VERY small (especially compared to the huge one I was used to) and we never even got to go to cool places. Well, we did go to Bush Gardens, but it wouldn't have been as fun as going to Hershey Park at the end of 7th and 8th grade if I had stayed in my old school. They also didn't have as many classes in my new school, and I'd have to take Orchestra every other day, and gym on the others. I used to be able to do both in one day at my old school. Of course, there, they combined English and Reading. Sooo...in 8th grade I got the choice to either stay in Orchestra or have gym every day, and being the athletic person that I am, which do you think I chose? I don't really regret my decision to drop out of playing an instrument, since it would just be another thing in my life to deal with. Oh well... Manic Webb
I'm teaching myself to play the piano. All I can do is read and play sheet music (very slowly and badly). I can't really play with two hands at a time. I usually use two hands to play something that a normal pianist would only use one hand for. I'm also learning to sing. I guess I have a very short vocal range that borders between (I think) tenor and bass. I have absolutely no voice in falcetto(sp?); I just sorta stand there with my mouth open, wheezing. I have the perfect makings of a background singer. :(
boothten
I play the trumpet right now. I like to play, it's just the teacher that really ticks me off. In my school, there' beginning, intermediate, and Advanced. I'm in advanced, I skipped int. Other than my teacher, band's pretty cool! :)
treton_noir
i LOVE to make music. i play several instruments and i love to program beats (i make techno(more "the prodigy" style techno)/industrial/hip-hop(for some local rappers i know)and stuff as well. instruments: classical-Bb clarinet non classical-guitar, bass i sing a bit, too. i have several projects that im working on, musically, and most things i do fit under one of my project ideas. my techno project name used to be (currently abandoned) Vaca Diablo. my cousin, vaca_diablo (OB), and i made beats together and he adopted his name from that. the hip-hop stuff was under the PN (project name), "Loop Daddy" (inside joke, long story). the rock stuff was under the PN, "the grunge monkeys", but i dumped that name. my metal stuff is now using the PN "static ghost" (which i really like a lot." there are a couple more projects that are anonymous at the moment. im currently working on albums for some of my stuff in my home studio and hope to release (independently at first) a couple of them. for the guiar players, here are some pictures of my stuff. i love ibanez guitars and line 6 equipment. guitar: 1. ibanez GAX70 with custom seymour duncan pickups (clear butterscotch) 2. ibanez RG270 (black) bass: 1. ibanez GSR200 (black) amp: 1. line 6 spider 50w 2x10 (that means 2x10in speakers) 2. fender bassman25 ps- look out for a treton_noir + Jesus Chicken collaboration that might be coming soon. iggy
I used to play the violin for like 3 years. I got really bored with it and quit for about 5 months, but my mom made me take it back up so I quit again and now I'm playing guitar, I hope to get a bass guitar for my birthday, that would make me really happy. Manic Webb
My dad told me he was gonna teach me to play bass guitar (he plays bass for a blues band), but he's always too busy on weekends with his gigs. Kinda ironic, isn't it?
iggy
I learned never to trust parents with things they say theyre going to do, my dad always told me he would help me learn how to play guitar but never did so I just told my mom to get me a teacher, and it works out good that way. Juu
I used to play alot of instruments, but I really can't play any of them very well... ^_^;; I learned how to play the piano when I was four, and then I quit when I turned seven, because we had to move to Denmark... I don't remember anything but the hand position and how to play 'Mary had a little lamb' on it. >>; Then I started learning the cello in Denmark, for four months. Then we had to move again, sooo... I never continued learning how to play. After that, my mom asked one of her friends to teach me how to play the piano again. Except, after about four weeks, she broke her wrist, and she couldn't teach me anymore... Soo... right now, I'm not playing anything. I wish I could. ><
Tasrai
O.K. I hope this doesn't sound like I'm bragging. But..... I LOVE music and am very talented. I play the Cello which my mom started me on when I was like five or something. I'm really good at it. But it's not really me. I can also play piano, which I'm good at, and can play excellently when I practice which isn't often. I also play Viola, which I started in the 6th grade, but I'm not all that great on it. But again it wasn't my instrament, it doesn't fit somehow. In 7th grade I started band and play percussion, mainly snare drum, bells, and Timpani (sp?). I finally found my instraments. I'm very good at percussion, but my band teacher seems to have a deep loathing for us. It really gets on my nerves. I also decided to learn Guitar which I'm teaching myself now. Hey, What can I say I'm a fast learner and love music! Then I also can sing very good. Last year I made it to the State Honor Choir. I am also in a band, but we kind of got a little split up when two of us moved I went to Georgia and Alyssa went to Texas, and Amanda got left in the middle, stuck in Mississippi. But we promised each other that we would keep at it and meet during the summer. I am the percussionists except on songs that I sing, then I play Guitar. Amanda is the Bass Guitar, and Alyssa is the other singer and plays the Guitar, except when I sing, then she'll play percussion. I know it's a little confusing, but there ya' have it. We haven't thought of a name yet.
Queen Asuka
I like to manipulate music by dancing. It's the most wonderful way to express yourself. It's not playing a musical instrument, but in my opinion it is the equivalent. It takes a soulful person to truly dance in a beautiful way.
amibasuki
hmmm....for band, I played trumpet my first year in 6th grade, then switched to percussion the year after. for high school marching band this year, I played quints in the drumline. Mr. Geiger (drum instructor) wants me to play snare next year (so does my mom, but she's more concerned about my back), but I really don't want to. I just don't like snare, and it's not nearly as much fun as quints is. but when it comes down to it, I'll probably go along with it, although I'm gonna freak if some punk freshman (EDIT: I'm using that term in its stereotypical sense; just thought I'd say that so nobody gets offended or whatnot :twitch:) who doesn't know what he's doing comes along and ends up playing my quints. I say open season on his sorry arse. my pet instrument besides quints is piano. I looooove playing piano. been playing since I was about 7, so I'm decent at it (I should hope so), though it takes me a while to learn new music if I don't like it, cuz I'm just stubborn like that :cross:. my favorite contemporary piano composer of all time is Jon Schmidt. anyone who likes piano music (or even if you don't) should seriously look into him sometime. some titles to check out are Waterfall, All of Me, Sacred Ground, and Game Day. those are some of my favorites anyway, just about everything else he's written is awesome, too. I can sing a slight bit. when I say a slight bit, I mean a slight bit, as in I can usually sing on key. I mostly sing for church, but I'll sing to just about anything I know the tune to. in the car or by myself, that is. yyyyyyyyup, I think that about covers it. The Harlequin
I'm only currently playing Bass. A Yamaha, pretty nice, I'll get something better soon. I've taken up electric three times though, at my father's urging. (My father was serious though, and has played lead guitar for more than 30 years, and he is damn good.) My father's got a Les Paul and a Flying V, a fairly decent Fender, and 11 other guitars. And nearly as many keyboards. And no-one knows why...
