aj142
I swear ? there are lots of types of games that can take a lot of time to play, but I don?t think any other genre ultimately ends up costing me so much overall game-playing time in the end. I think I must spend about 120 to 200 hours on each RPG I play. Is that average? How much time do you think you spend on RPGs on the average, and what?s the longest game you ever played? JCBaggee
Well, I spend about 40-60 hours, depending on if the game is reeeeeally good and has lots of mini games, side quests, etc. --Chris
Guest Zeh
400+ hours. If the story is good, There's plenty of other things to keep you occupied besides the storyline (FFX, Blitzball) and i can actually have fun doing those things, well, i can get hundreds of hours into a game. I think i've spent the most time on FFT... since the counter doesn't pass 99 hours, i can't tell.... but with all the work i did, testing things and lots of other stuff, i'm sure i reached over 1000 hours... and i still manage a life?

Semjaza
You guys need to get some new games heh. I don't know what my average times on RPGs are. Usually, when I beat the game I never play it again. There generally is little reason to, and by the time I finish one RPG another good one has come out... so I move on to that. I've been playing RPGs since I was like 7 years old, when Nintendo Power gave away a free copy of Dragon Warrior with a subscription. I have no idea how long I spent on that game, but I must have restarted it like 20 times (I'd get far, not play for a while and forget what to do next, so I'd restart heh). NES games never had time clocks. So let's see... I can make a little chart about how much I've played these games if I can guess. Dragon Warrior - I'd say total about 30 hours. Dragon Warrior II - 12 or so hours, I hated this game. Dragon Warrior III - Around 50 hours if I count NES and GBC. Dragon Warrior IV - About 30 hours. Dragon Warrior VII - I'm not even close to done, but I'm about 30 hours in. Skies of Arcadia - Total spent on the GC and DC versions is about 45 hours now. Persona - I'd say about 25 hours. Persona 2 - Not beaten it yet, but about 20 hours. Earthbound - I'd say the first time through was about 15 hours, but I've played through the game like 5 times.... So what's that? 75 hours? heh Final Fantasy - About 15 hours. FF2 - About 2... Not into emulation. FF3 - About 1... Again, not into emulation FF4 - I've played it twice, and the game takes about 14 hours to get through the first time. So I guess 30 hours. FF5 - About 5 hours. The PSX loading drove me nuts. FF6 - I played through it twice. First time took 60 hours, second time took about 26. So about 90 hours (the winner so far heh). Secret of Mana - About 12 hours. Secret of Evermore - About 16 hours. Star Ocean 2 - No idea. I'd say at least 30. SaGa Frontier - 3 hours. It sucked. Xenogears - First time through was 70 hours. I don't remember if I played it again. Valkyrie Profile - I've only played this about 10 hours. Suikoden - About 15 hours. Suikoden III - I think like 13 hours so far. Lunar/Lunar 2 - About 25 hours total. Arc the Lad Collection - About 10 hours. I got rather bored with it. That's all I can think of. It's amazing I'm not fat and disgusting heh. Games like Grandia, FFX, FFT, Xenogears, FF7, i've played numerous times, ammounting to atleast 400+ hours... and then there's the games where i do a whole bunch of things, texting and re-testing and that adds a lot of time... FFX's omega dungeon's treasure thingy is crazy... i gave up figuring it out.... i don't even understand how to do it >_<;;

I know what you mean - I usually don't replay any game that I've beat, although some of my favorite games are like my favorite movies: I just HAVE to see it again, have to try a new way of winning, have to re-live the experience, you know? Xenegears is a perfect example. I just really loved it the first time and had to play it again later, although usually RPGs are sooooo long that I don't do them over again ~ mostly I replay 1st and 3rd person shooters. Are you excited that Xenosaga is almost here?
Desbreko
If you can count the Zelda series as RPGs (I consider them more action-adventure, though), then it's got to be at least a few hundred hours. (Try 600, 650, maybe). If not, it's probably closer to 350, 400. Games besides Zelda that I can remember: Final Fantasy IV - Probably at least 50 hours for all the times that I've had to restart because of a dead battery. >_< Final Fantasy VI - Around 100, I think, for both times through. Final Fantasy VII - The clock stops at just below 100, but I must have played for at least 50 past that, plus another 70 going through again. So probably around 220. Final Fantasy IX - Probably 25 hours. Others that I can't remember off hand. - Probably another 30.
aj142
That's a lot of FF time, Desbreko! Is it just Zelda and FF for you, or have you played any other RPGs?
Desbreko
Well, there have been a few others, mainly rented games. But yeah, it's mostly been Zelda and FF. If I can scrape together enough money, though, I'll probably get Skies of Arcadia Legends for the GCN. Oh, duh, I totally forgot about Pokémon, lol. Between both Pokémon Yellow and Pokémon Gold, that'd probably add another 250 hours. Lets see, what else did I miss on my GB/GBC? Ah, yes, Pokémon Trading Card Game is kind of an RPG. Probably played that for about 15, 20 hours. Harvest Moon 2, probably about 15. Hmm, if I add it all up, then, that'd be... About 875 hours. And trust me, that number would be a lot higher, if I were able to afford all the RPGs that I've wanted to get but not had the money for. (And I still need to play Super Mario RPG and Earthbound).

GinnyLyn
Memory's a little fuzzy on some of these, but here goes: Considering that SNES games rarely had timers either...ergh: ChronoTrigger--70 hours, for every NewGame+ to get to L** Secret of Mana--10 hours. Didn't like it. Super Mario RPG--prolly 20 hours, rough guess. (x4) Legend of Zelda--a happy 20-25 hours (x7) Pokémon--at least 100 hours total. Zelda64--20-25 hours (x7) FF7--30-40 hours (x4) FF8--30 minutes. ^^; FF9--40 hours (x2) FF10--35 hours. Gotta get that secret stuff. (about to be x2, starting it again soon) Legend of Mana--12 hours. Dark Cloud--25 hours. Okage--22 hours. FF4--8 hours (then I forgot to save, and got too mad to continue) FF3/6--14 hours, then problem with the Opera House. It was a loner, too, so... Dragon Warrior 7--32 hours. Digimon--at least 50 hours. Legend of Dragoon (I need to finish it!)--37 hours. Link's Awakening--rough guess, 15 hours? (x5) Oracle of S/A--25 hours for both, before they went missing in the middle of the second one. :bawl: That's all of the RPG games I can think off the top of my head. Total: .... ...1005 hours?!? And that doesn't include all the action/adventure games I play, too! Yeah, it's official, Ginny has no life! ^^;
aj142
Is there no one else here who has played Xenogears on the PS1? Man, that's depressing!
James
I'd say the most time I spent on an RPG was with FFVII. I spent about 75 hours on it, getting everything. Other than that...I don't spend as much time on games these days. FFVIII was something like 40 hours to the end...FFIX has so far been about 30 and I'm near the end (I just haven't continued in a long time)...and FFX, I'm at about 35 hours or something. I forget.
conpiracymonki
Pokemon Blue: A lot. I don't know how long, but it was lotsa long, lol. My Charizard was sooo unbeatable. (Had trouble against Misty at beginning because of my stupid decision, though) FFIV: About an 2 hours in? I dunno. I only played it the day I bought it >.> FFV: About 4 hours into the game. I liked this one, but I stopped after I got my PS2. Which was about a week after I started playing this one *sigh* FFVI: Maybe about 20 hours. I'm not that far into it, but pretty built up for where I am ^_^ FFVII: Over the 99:59:59 on the timer the first time round, and I'm about 15 hours into my second game. FFVIII: Hmm. Apart from all the cards and Doomtrain (which I can still get) and Leviathan (who I could get off one of them extra kooks in the castle), I got and did everything in under 60 hours. Silly easy levelling up. >.> FFIX: 50+ hours played. Gotta do them Guardians. Levelling up before I do. Silly painfully slow levelling up. o.- FFX: 50+ hours played too. Curse Lady Yunalesca and her mega-Death -.-' Kingdom Hearts: 9 hours CT: 30 or something hours. Not sure how much, really. CC: 25-ish I'm guessing. Not sure. BoFIV: 20 hours, maybe. Heck, I can't even remember the storyline >.> *compares his list to everyone else's and cries*
kizu
Most of my time ws in pokemon. That was my first rpg, and I played it so much. My Red has about 600+ hours on it alone. I would play it for about 30 hours and start over. I did that atleast 15 times. But then I had a few games that I go for a long game and play 50 hours. Then I have my Yellow, and Silver. Yellow has about 1/2 of what my red had. And Silver had about 1/5 of what my yellow did. Next we have the slim amount of Rpgs I had for ps. FFVII had about 50 hours on it (I was going to the end boss and I let my brother borrow my memory card and he lost it, still haven't got it back). Legend of Dragoon had a 42 hour game plus I got about 13 hours into it again before I lost interest. Another 70 hours of Paper Mario. 50 hours of Skies of Arcadia (I plan to move my game up to about 150 hours as soon as my friend brings it back). And that is all the rpg I can think of. WOW, That added up to almost 1200 hours.
