Zephyr
Has anyone else ever played this game? And if so, what did you think of it? In my opinion, this is one of the greatest games for the PS2 system (but then again, I am partial to mecha games). Not only can you customize your AC (Armored Core) in too many ways to count, you also get to test it out on some of the strangest looking enemies ever (such as the Giant MT). And best of all, if you beat all 100 "sorties" you unlock a special hidden island where you get to fight enemies seen in the earlier Armored Core games (and overweight AC's are allowed for the fights). For those of you that have played or own Armored Core 2 and have the games saved on your memory card, you can start the games on AC2:AA, which means you have a head-start in cash. Favorite Hand Weapon: Sniper Rifle (energy). Longest range and will take out most MT's with one shot. Favorite Back Weapon: Gatling Gun. For when things get crowded. Three Favorite Levels: Giant MT, what is more fun then a enemy ten times your size? One with missiles and grenades out the ***. Destroy Airplane Prototypes, 35,000ft in the air and four airplanes to smash. 2nd Hidden Island Fight, Are they sure that enemy is an AC? It seems too big for that.
vaporjolt
I have this game. I even wrote a strategy guide for it! It's a great game, but I missed the Arena and Mail options from Armored Core 2. If you're talking about the NIGHT energy sniper rifle, then I'd have to agree with you. Of course, the KARASAWA-MK2 will always be the best, but most people consider it cheap b/c it's too powerful. And the Back-mounted dual-gatling guns are the most destructive weapons in the game. I used them against Ultimate Nine Ball and totally destroyed him. They're even better against normal AC's b/c of the heating factor. :D
Kent
I actually dont have aa and have never gotten to play it. I have ac2, but I dont have any experience with ac2:aa. I would like to get on it, but I've been on gt3 constantly for the last month. I do feel obligated to post about this because of my love for the armored core series. It is the best mecha series in existance today and only a hand full can keep up with this series. I love the controls and the general quality of the game. Overall the most important parts of these games are the competitions between good ac's in the arena. I know its not in aa, but its in several others, and without a doubt a major oversight for aa. I love ac. I made a thread months ago and barely anyone replied. It was almost heart breaking, but just know this... I will be willing to talk about these games forever. Your not alone in loving these games no matter how many replies this thread gets.
Zephyr
Originally posted by vaporjolt If you're talking about the NIGHT energy sniper rifle, then I'd have to agree with you.
I think that is the one. I do not own the game (yet), but I have already ordered it and should have it with in week. The one I really like has a brown/red frame and a silver barrel (IIRC).
And the Back-mounted dual-gatling guns are the most destructive weapons in the game. Between the light gatling gun and the sniper rifle I am prepared for most enemies. As for Ultimate Nine Ball, I think the reason that the dual gatling guns worked so well is because UNB is protected against energy weapons, but damaged easily by ammo weapons. I am glad that there are others out there that enjoy this game as much as I do.
Tommy Vercetti
Well i have this game and i haven't really played it to be honest my brother has and he thinks a pretty decent game as the weapons are really cool and the movement of the AC is very easy and feels really smooth to control. I always like editing the AC by giving it new weapons and body parts and gadgets etc. I don't really have much knowledge of the game but the multiplayer is pretty fun also. I think the multiplayer levels should be expanded a bit more and its sort of annoying when your health or energy i think starts to decrease when you have left the area and you have a certain time limit to come back in or something. Anyways its a pretty decent game from my point of view.
Zephyr
I just found a really cool trick in this game. In the 2nd "Lost Field" mission there is a way to make the large, aircraft-like AC completely docile. Here is what you need on an AC: -High armor points -Anti-missile systems -Gatling gun and energy weapon (no grenades, missiles or anything with splash damage) Here is what you have to do. Once the level starts activate anti-missile systems and continually use boosters to dash laterally (side to side) and avoid attacks. Once the AC stops and powers up its ultimate attack (the rainbow colored energy beams) dash forward and jump on top of the AC. Here is where is gets tricky. You must land between the two missile pods, near the front. Too far forward and it will hit you with it large missiles. Too far back and it will fly forward and dump you off. If you land correctly it will completely stop. Now you can take your time. Empty your gatling gun into the back of the cockpit, or anywhere else. When it runs out use your energy gun.
