Well, I'm not all the great on subjects such as these. But I guess Harry failed to realize that he blatantly made racist remarks in his first post. I mean just about everyone in this topic has made a reference to his racist remarks, yet he went on arguing as if people were just talking about his idea to ship these kids off to military school.

Read your post if you don't understand that you have offended people with your racism, not your ideas for sending kids to military school.

Also, it isn't the point to get children out of low income areas. The point is mainly to get more money to these schools that need it, and not all of these failing children are stupid or lazy. A lot of the times it is indeed the fault of the teacher hired by the schooling systems. There are a lot of teachers out there who only took the job because they figured they can get a healthy pay check for doing little work. I have not seen many teachers passionate about teaching children, so I find that a bit sad to start blaming all of the kids for it.

Find a teacher who truly cares about teaching kids, and makes it fun to learn; I bet you'll find that a lot of their students did in fact pass.

Now, Jenni you have offended me deeply. Why? Not because of your abundance of swearing. Hell, I swear a lot too. It's who I am, but I am at least smart enough to keep it off the boards. You [b]can[/b] talk without using foul language. Am I offended by your attitude? Nah, I'm usually not much of a happy camper either. But again I'm smart enough to keep it off the boards.

So what did you offend me with? Well, you took a signature phrase of mine and ruined it. Sit on it and rotate? What the hell is that? Get it right, it's Sit on it and spin. Maybe there isn't much of a difference, but it sounds much better my way.

Anyway, I also don't think it's wise to talk smack to CWB. He can outdebate most people easily, but smack talking comes naturally to the guy. You go toe to toe with him, it'll be like trying to take on a football team by yourself.

I also think that many kids who grow up in minority-dominated urban have an excuse for thier laziness--many are raised from infanthood knowing nothing else. Those who are, aren't required to do well by their parents, and they don't. It's more than just the children in American schools; it's the attitude of too many American people.

Maybe we shouldn't be forced to go to school after a certain point. I don't mean everyone should be able to cut class or whatever, but you'd have a choice to enroll at the beginning of the year, learn a trade, get a job, etc.

I think once teenagers work, then realize how broke they're going to be w/out an education, they'll wake up real quick.

It is pretty stupid to make teenagers go who are just going to skip or slack off. So don't make them, they're just wasting everyone's time. If they change their minds, they could always come back.

It's pretty unrealistic to expect [i]all[/i] teenagers to be focused & motivated during this time. Many just need to mature.

Courses for adults who want to get their diploma should be free of charge for this type of situation, I think.

There's probably a million things wrong with this idea, since I just thought of it, so feel free to make suggestions or tell me I'm an idiot. It's the best thing I could come up with on short notice.[/color]
