Harry
In order to be religious, two things must be present: 1) Discarding rationality for the sake of faith; That is to say the religious do not approach the world through a logical, deductive perspective. Their entire belief, way of life, and every one of their opinions is based on what they are told to think or believe. 2) The childlike suspension of disbelief; In the same way one who attends magic shows would be fascinated by the supernatural displays of trickery, instead of letting cynicism and rationality ruin their enjoyment of the show, religious people belive in mystical power and the presence of a higher power with earth-changing. Thus, by demonstrating that a religious person's line of thought is both irrational, and child-like in it's suspension of disbelief, I have proven that non-religious people are indisputably more intelligent than those who believe. Domon
Oh please... Honestly, my sister in-law is religious and she is a very smart person, what you're saying is clearly irrational and unlogical. Not all religious people are that way, what your stating is what religious people used to do way back in time. I'm sorry but your "theory" is clearly unrealistic. I'm sorry but you have proven nothing.
Mitch
This thread is utterly pointless. No breed of people are smarter than another. Religon has not one single little speck to do with how intelligent someone is. Saying that is utter discrimination. Utter. So, I am really close to wanting to close this thread. Most of it will end up being flaming anyways, so I might as well just do you good by closing it now. You can't tell who and what and why people shouldn't believe in something. They believe in it becaues they believe in it, no one else. So what I have to say to you is, if you don't like religion, get over it. Fast. Because there's millions upon millions out there who do, and many upon many are much more intelligent, rational, and have much less audacity to be so discriminative and prejudice. But you have a right to your opinion, so I give it to you. But please, don't be so utterly stupid. People aren't people because of how intelligent they are. Heck, intelligence itself has many numerous different approaches. Someone can know not one thing about book-smart intelligence, but they can be one of the more intelligent and cool people you know. So have your opinion, I have mine. This thread is a pointless argument where you'll get flamed numerous times. So take this as me being kind when I close this.
James
I fully support Mitch's decision to close this thread. Harry, it seems like you've been creating threads such as this simply for controversy. It might be nice to have a constructive conversation; but this certainly is not constructive.
