Actually, I don't even know if they can say "bra" on television (at least for children). Pepper-Ann had an entire episode about Pepper-Ann buying her first bra, and they went the entire episode without saying "bra" once.
Well, at least i know i'm not the ONLY one who watches that show.

But,if your saying it like they should do Pepper-Ann, therefore her name would Be Support. I'd like to have Bulla more than that. But, Bra is still beter than ANY thing that Funi could come up with....

I think you download a fansub... a bad fansub. Your average fansub and fan website (and nearly everyone else) usually call him Broli/Brolli/Brolly, not Brotty. That, or your subs are just blurry and you see "t" instead of "l".
no it wasn't a fansub....his Dad even said what sounded hella like brotti.....not brolly....but anywhy i'm off that subject *coughs and waves* goodbye subject....i'm going to miss you!

Support Briefs.
I'm gonna try to not think about that too much.

The more I think about it, the less I like the name Bulla. Sure, Bulla is better than Bla or Burla or Bulra or just Brr. Still, I wish they would've at least used Bura, dagnabbit!

Stop insulting FUNi. Here name in Romaji is Bura. That would literally translate to Bula. They added an L for emphasis. Stop insulting FUNi.

The name "Bula"/"Bulla" does not appall me much. "Bura" I do believe in the Japanese pronunciation of her name, and, if my memory serves me correct, some Japanese pronounce L's as R's. So it could very well just be that all-too-in-depth pronunciation of her name. Sure, they probably could just stick with "Bura", but it is FUNi. *shrugs*

Endymion, my reason for Tenshinhan's name being changed to Tienshinhan is just because it would sound a bit odd to call someone "Ten". It just sounds better in English to say "Tien". That is my belief as to why they did that.
I don't remember him ever bieng called Tenshinhan. But it could be, I never pay much attention to what they call each other.

In the original version (in Japanese), his name was Tenshinhan and he was occasionally called "Ten."

The in NA dub of DBZ, when Tien died fighting Nappa, Bulma cried looking at a group picture with all of them in it. She looked at his picture and called him "Tienshinhan."

The only people who called him Ten, was Chao-su and Misuuta Anouncaa. Son and the others may have said it once each. They all else called him by his real name, TenShinHan.

Let me break it down for y'all. Bra in Japanese is written Bu-Tsu-Ra. Which would make it Burra, since a tsu characteristic before a constanent doubles that constanent. So you get Bu-R-Ra. Then taking in account the rules of translation it would become Bu-L-La. Good translation.

I learned a little Japanese in my first stint in Japan. Then I've learned little by little(basically Kana and Romaji common words), and when I go off to college If I don't get my choices I'm going back to Okinawa and learning it there as a minor, while trying to get a major in Phschology. So basically I'll know Kana and Romaji and be a little advanced over the other fully American students from America.

What I mentioned was Bra written in Kana. I learned that because some 21 year old who always post another one of my boards claims to speak fluent Japanese, and whenever someone post something about the Japanese language he attempts to shut them up. Well I was talking with him about this and I proved him wrong when he told me how Bra was written in Kana. Then I broke the rule out and explained how they got Bulla from that. He was like you don't know ****, but then everyone else came in and proved him wrong, proving him to be a foney.

And that is how I interpreted how Bra became Bulla.

I thought it was obvious.

But no one bothers to look up that, Nickelodeon was created in the 1970's and has had made a presence and made such an impact on children?s entertainment worldwide. The Nickelodeon programming philosophy promotes high-quality and non-violent productions that are from a kid's point of view, with equal gender appeal, humorous, diverse, involve real kid experiences and feature strong characters and good stories. Research insights found that kids and parents like the high-quality, non-violent and pro-social Nickelodeon programming philosophy Kids Love it! So Parents relied on nickelodeon to make Kid Appropriate Animation Dubs for their children to watch which is why Nickelodeon boycotts programming they feel is too profane for kids or corrupting the youth. In a sense, take out the parts of the story inappropriate for children. And the childrens programming Act given to congress limits it to be, edited when kids during the day, when kids are awake. And allow only some adult programming at night when kids are asleep.

I don't think that it's a problem they change it. I am against it, but there's not much you can do to stop it. Plus, it's only a name and it's not like it's the end of the world.

And Nickelodeon was made in 85', not the 70s. Also Nickelodeon doesn't show cutesy whootsy shows. A lot of their shows have made me throw up they did such nasty stuff.

Ren and Stimpy come to mind...

Yeah, it's just a name change...what's the big deal? Plus, you can't have little kids watching a show with a character named "Bra". It's be like having a Japanese character named Baka.
