Now that I think about it he does look slightly funny compared to how he looks in more recent titles. But that is what most 16-bit characters look like.

^_^ Yes I do love the Super NES Mario title, Super Mario World. I remember the first time I played it. I actually still play it on my Super NES though. I recently hooked up the old thing, and started over. I think I have 41 now. If a game can be out for roughly 10 years and I still enjoy it, then it is definitely a good game.

Well, maybe for the original Nintendo Super Mario, but he was much more curved and dynamic in the SNES version. I'm not realy sure what point you're trying to make here, but it is a great game. I like the many different environments it had to offer and how you could navigate the map in many different ways, like Super Mario 3. The ability to use the super cape and ride Yoshi were very innovative ideas to add for this SNES starter game.

Yeah, look at Mario from the original Super Mario Bros... Mario in Super Mario World looks pretty good compared to that. (And I still prefer the look of most* sprites to the characters' 3D forms in the later games in the series).

But yeah, Super Mario World is still my favorite game in the series. It's got fast paced platforming action, while still letting you go through the levels as slow as you want. (Well, to a certain extent, anyway, there is a time limit). It was also nice and long for a platformer (at the time, anyway), and had tons of stuff to do. Especially in the GBA remake, where it actually records whether or not you've gotten all the Dragon Coins in a level. Heck, though, I have fun just trying to see how fast I can get through certain levels.

*Samus Aran is a definite exception, for Metroid Prime, heh.
