Fall
Originally posted by James SS, as I said...people here are generally pretty nice. They don't just dislike you for nothing. Harry "earned" that dislike through some of his behavior. The ultimate solution would be for him to actually become a little more respectful of others and thus, to earn some more respect from the membership. As for his sister...I'm not touching that whole issue with a 10ft pole. I can see how it could be true and I can see how people doubt it. If I'd had a clash with Harry, maybe I'd doubt his story. Maybe he should think about that.
I too can see how people doubt his story, I'm not saying I don't. It's not that I don't doubt his situation he's in now, I'll take his word for it. He has to understand I'm giving him sympathy because I believe him, aswell as the others who did so. Harry hasn't done anything wrong by me. What I'm trying to say is my view. Harry's done some wrong things by other members, and for that, I can see why they dislike him. Though what I see is more members disliking him because of this. I honestly think that the "bad things" Harry has done hasn't earned this much of a hating from so much fellow members. Lady Macaiodh
Yeah, SS, I agree. Though I usually always disagreed with what he said, I never flamed him or anything. Even though he would insult people, it's pretty stupid to do the same to him, since that's what started the whole controversy in the first place. I think the reason people disliked him so much was that debates escalated into huge arguments because he started off with a tactless comment & eventually everyone got pissed off. But I've never been the type to let an argument make me hate a person! Example: I hardly ever agree with gokents' political views, and I'm pretty anti-Republican, but we're friends. And Vegitto4's comments in the "Homosexuality" thread annoyed the hell out of me (understatement), but look at my sig. He's probably my best friend on the boards. I actually kind of like Harry, even though a lot of stuff he does drives me insane. It's also pretty funny, since his obvious intent is to get a rise out of people, and all of you make it so easy. Do you really think you're going to change his mind about anything? Whether his thread was true or not, at least it made some people think about whether or not he's such a bad person as his rep. NOTE: I've never seen a thread like this where people openly discuss a member without their input. Is this quite appropriate? If someone started a thread about me, I'd be embarrassed as hell. I guess that makes me a hypocrite in a way, but the resposes to his thread were pretty harsh.
James
SS, you said that nobody gave him a chance to be liked. And that is particularly what I was responding to. Everyone who joins the boards has the opportunity to be liked. But if you are rude to others, you have to expect that sooner or later, someone will dislike you for it. I'm not passing judgement on anyone and I'm not saying whether or not Harry is right. That's for everyone else to judge. What I'm saying is that Harry was given every opportunity to have a constructive conversation, but through his own behavior, he brought disrespect upon himself.
The Unholy Newt
Here are the links to all of Harry's post since his supposed 'Final' post. Now, look at each of them and still tell us that any of them conveys the sadness one would feel after losing a loved one. I don't think so. When my grandmother died, I didn't speak a single word for five days. Now, Harry's twin sister has supposedly died, but now a mere few days after Harry is happily posting away, apparently oblivious to the tragedy that has supposedly befallen him. His 'final' post was made on the 21/02/2003. But all of these posts are dated 23/02/2003. Hmm, strange. 1: http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=359479#post359479 2: http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=359495#post359495 3: http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=359528#post359528 4: http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=359549#post359549 5: http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=359579#post359579 6: http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=359583#post359583 7: http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=359626#post359626 There. 7 posts when he was supposed to have left OB. Well according to this, he is obviously not gone, and definetley not dead. Now Jenni, does he really deserve this respect you talk about? I think not. ~TUN
James
I really don't think we should be analyzing Harry too much here. Everyone has included their opinion on the subject. Jenni can read this and make her own judgement.
