it's it just me, or does every thread in which someone requests advice or help get turned into a fight of religios nature? i'm tired of people bashing me because i'm a christian, and i was woundering if anyone else felt this way.

also, if you have anything against my religions statments, please say so in this thread insted of ruining other people's threads with it.

Hmm.. I've never heard of much christian bashing..\

yes, I'm tired of all bashing in the world, but I've not seen much on this boards.. but as this board grows, I guess many types are coming here... maybe some are prejudice.(or perverts.. the othr day I saw that someone had signed up under "Heavy Cock..banned, or course..)

It is not "hip" to bash religion, or anyone of a different view to you (and we don't have pea sized brains either) IMO, I would give people my view on why I'm a christian, then let them make up their own mind. I'm more against killing the "infidel" in the name of God, people who bash my religious views and lifestyle are just misinformed, moronic and stupid, they are the ones with the smaller brain!

Ack. I'd rather be a whole person anyway, not just a hip.

You certainly have a point there.

But it's comments like that that are going to really put people off. So I suggest you keep such thoughts to yourself, because really, you're just asking for it.

I agree completely there. I don't see much religion bashing (but I do see some), but I see a ton of insults toward America. Sure, some may be true, but please, finding any excuse to disgrace us is unnessecary.

Like wrist cutter mentioned, that's the kind of comment that ticks people off.

Just because some people who are Christians are ignorant fools doesn't mean that all Christians are. If someone disagrees with me, oh well, I have my opinions, they have theirs. Not every Christian "has a habit of seeing anyone that disagrees with them as evil."

That is one of the most ignorant remarks I've heard in a while.

I'm just saying people go along with it because others do it too. Most people that say "yeah christianity sucks" would never say that outside of their own private thoughts, until they see someone else do it too.

We're not bashing. it's just that alot of people don't agree with christianity... or it doesnt even have to do with religion... but they bring it up anyway.
Everyone has a different opinion and not many people are going to agree with it. Everyone has a different view on everything.
It's not religion bashing, it's just having a different opinion

lol, thats the greatest thing you've ever said.

Bashing a religion is like bashing a race or bashing gay people. You're all stereotyping one person who is "Christian" or whatever religion and assume the rest act like that and generalizing. Kind of like what many US citizens did to Muslims after 9/11. Everyone does it, to some extent. I have, you have, the guy in the corner has.

Although I dunno what many of you consider bashing... me saying God doesn't exist isn't bashing. It's more of an opinion, in such a case you saying God does exist is opinon. (NOTE: That was an example, please don't take that as I don't believe in God [or whatever he or she likes to be called], for I do, I'm just not a Christian) By saying Christian hate this and that, which my be true with many... like for example if I were to say "based on the Matthew Sheperd case, I think Christians hate gay people"... I generalized, but it's not false in the full sense. Some Christians do hate gay people, they held up signs that said "God Hates F@gs"... are those Christians? They certainly think they are and thus I say I don't like Christians because they hate gay people... which isn't bashing a religion (I'm not saying YOU'RE WRONG! YOU SUCK! CHRISTIANS AND YOU ARE STUPID!) it's more generalizing based on personal experience. The same goes for anything though. Yu don't buy Macs because one of them sucked. You don't buy Fords because the Taurus you owned 5 years ago was crappy.... is that bashing a company then? No it's generalizing. I don';t think people are bashing religion in many cases, they are generalizing against. Although some may be bashing, many aren't... Everyone generalizes. Christians and any member of any religion does on a daily basis. You are in this thread. By making this thread you are. I am offended because you claim every thread about helping people turns into a religious bash which isn't the case. You bashed me by saying "you're tired of people bashing..."... I'm people.. I haven't bashed any religion in any thread... how dare you..... see... it's all the same.

Yeah... uh yeah...

Okay I get what you're getting at. And you're right.

Transtic Nerve sumed it up pretty well, most people here do not "bash" religion (I see mine as more of a faith than a religion anyway, there is a big difference) They have a viewpoint, a viewpoint i don't necessarily have to agree with, but I respect.
--------------------

For all these people who say they are Christians, and condemn gay people, they are really sinning themselves, I don't want to sound too preachy, but that's the general idea.

The Bible teaches against blasphemy, so If God loves people, then you go kill people in the name of God, isn't that blasphemy?
John 3:16

is this Killing in the name of God?

I do find it all too fun to "bash" another's religion. Catholics/Christians get it the most because there are so many of them. They make me laugh, but annoy me at the same time. Especially with little phrases like "It was God's will", or whatever. I am just like:

Prove it.

There are so many more logical and reasonable explanations for things before I would even consider something "greater". They cannot prove it, because all they rely on is faith. Faith is fairly similar to hope, and as the respected Benjamin Franklin once said, "He that lives upon hope will die fasting." Of course, then they try to get some foundation by saying things about how "God" gives people signs and whatnot; that is how he shows people that he exists. Well:

Here's your sign. (anybody who knows Bill Engvall should know what that sign says ;))

They have their beliefs, but no solid foundation to them. So they cannot really prove anything that they believe in. Of course, then they like to say that they do not need to prove anything, we shall all see the proof when we die or come judgment day... Pfft, again I say:

Prove it.

This is what makes them squirm, and this is what makes me laugh. This is not really bashing, more so just a debate.

The ultra-religious also make me laugh, just because they are so easy to frighten. I can put on black eyeliner, go up to one and stare at them and they seriously act as if I was Satan. I have a friend of mine who is Catholic, goes to a Catholic school where people know she is Catholic. She was at a dance with black lipstick and eyeshadow. She went to talk to someone she knew, but they would not come anywhere near her because she was "evil".

I am sorry, but people like that deserve to be 'bashed'. Especially when you know that a person is of your religion like the aforementioned example. That is just really pathetic. The kind of people that if their holy book said that gravity was not real (or some other widely known fact), they would believe it and hear nothing against it.

I can actually, pm me and I'll tell you these so called imaginary signs, that are happening everyday.

That goes for everyone, I'll be happy to share ample evidence with you :)

I don't think that everyone who wears black lipstick and eye shadow is evil, I don't condemn people, I have said this numerous times, yet, I am constantly thrown in the same target as the ones who do condemn, you have got to realise how frustrating that can be, especially if people just listened to you evidence and made a clear, unbiased judgement for themselves, rather than getting all up the anti. They might just find some truth in our word.

you never know until you know. Try my evidence, find a fault in it. In fact, I dare you. In a friendly way, of course :)

I think my problem is when people are SO CONVINCED that THEIR opinion is right, and everyone else's is wrong. And that is part of the reason why I took interest in this thread.

As I pointed out in the "Did she have a right?" thread, the person that can scream their opinion the loudest (or has it backed up by authority), is the person that is generally heard and accepted as true. This covers just about ANYONE who's ever been in an authoritative position.

Like TN said, generalizations are results of ignorant people. If we spent half the time we spend on generalizing on taking time to understand and respect other's opinions instead, we'd...well, we wouldn't be having flame wars like the days of yore (back when I lost my SuperModShip over such a matter--*laughs* I hope I've become more mature about discussions like this; no more flame wars for Ginny.).

Anyways, let's face it, no matter what you do, someone is ALWAYS gonna scream bloody murder for you offending them. Doesn't mean I am for religion bashing. Hardly. I got offended a tad by what some of you had to say in this thread. But someone will always be offended.

It's just the way our screwed up world is.

Actually, Piro, you're wrong. If you follow thought through to logical conclusion, then by logic there must be a higher power of some kind, and the most likely and the one that most fits all the shoes that higher power would have to fill is the God of Christianity.

Of course, this means nothing to you. I doubt you'll even research it to see if I could be right. Just something more for you to laugh at. :)

The following is for the encouragement of those who need it. I figured there would be those who would not care to see this, so I've decided to respect those who don't. However, I encourage all to read it:
I really try not to care when I see Christianity bashed...or generalized. You see, I, also, can sit back and have a good giggle. I've found over my short time as a Christian that the best thing to do in the face of the enemy in any form(and he does take many) is to just sit back, smile, and put it all in the hands of Jesus. One way or the other, the Bible says that every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of all. As a true follower of Christ, the most you can do is witness, pray, and hope for those who don't understand that.
There's no sense in getting all jacked up over someone who looks down on you for your faith, because sooner or later, no matter what faith you follow, that's going to happen. You just have to stay strong, fight the fight, and lay your head down at night with your pride, honor and faith secure.

Well, I have to agree with Prio. I believe in my own thing, which is a combination of Buddhism, and Christianity. I think there is something out there, just not the Christian God. I just find it hard to believe that, as my Catholic School teachers tell me, that animals don't have souls, and that God doesn't stop war and suffering and evil in this world just because he gave us "free-will". I find it hard to believe that God, if he really cares about us, would let us kill each other off with nukes, and guns, and so forth. Or maybe I'm wrong. Maybe there is a god. Maybe he did create us and Jesus is his One and only son. But until he shows ME proof, this is one person who has been turned off Christianity by a Catholic School. It told me animals aren't on the same level on us, and that they didn't have souls. I can't believe that. Ever. Thats all I ahve to say, but I may want to see your proof.

P.S. I believe in reincarnation and Karma(your deeds will affect your future. i.e., you do something bad, you'll get screwed later on)
