Karma: Do you think such a thing exists?

I was wondering if any of you people out there in the wide world believe in karma. Karma dictates that your good and bad actions will affect your future. If you do something good, something good wil happen to you. If you do something bad, something bad will happen to you. What do you think?

(please don't let me get flamed!)

I have Karma beads... they don't do much... i gto rid of my depressed and angry ones and I'm still depressed and angry...

Karma isn't really something to believe in, it's something you give off kinda. You have bad karma when you are angry and pissed off, and good karma when you're happy and full of joy... so err yeah

I do belive in Karma, just for the simple fact that everything bad or immoral that I do tends to bounce back and bites me in the rear. I guess the good things I do also catch up with me, but I do so few good deeds that I guess the rewards are hardly noticable. By the way Instant Karma by John Lennon rocks.

I somewhat believe in karma...

I'm not really sure whether I believe in Reincarnation or Heaven, but I'm sure if you do something bad or good, that will effect your life one way or another in the future, even if it's not neccessarily in Heaven, Hell, or what you are in your next life...etc.

Whenever someone does something bad, most of the time, it effects someone, whether it's that person, or another. If someone does something good, it usually makes you feel good later on, or brightens up another person's day. ^_^

My opinions on subjects like this usually get me typing for a while, so tonight I'm avoiding it.

Basically I try to believe in Karma.

Or you could say I believe in Karma just as much as Dharma.

I have troubles expressing thoughts about "energy" and "spirituality."

I think karma has some logical explanations.

For example; let's say you are a nasty person and you treat people horribly. If you behave like that all the time, most people might just let it go. But one day, someone might treat you the same way or worse. It would be inevitable if you didn't change your behavior.

So, I think that your behavior is what dictates how you are treated, mostly.

If you do something bad...and then you regret it and you do your very best to be good...I don't think it will necessarily come around on you again. I hope that makes sense.

I don't believe in karma to some extent. Whenever I am angry or mad something good happens to me. Whenever I am happy, then something bad has to happen to me. It completly ruins my day. Nothing good every happens after that, until maybe the next day. So in that case, no I don't believe in karma.

Valen, that is just newbie Wiccan crap.

I agree with Jamez.
Though I tend to believe that karma is just the name for the whole thing. It is nothing magical. If you kill some one you will go to jail, nothing magical about that but it still comes under the whole meaning of karma. (Yes I know that it?s more to do with feelings but you can still apply it. :P )

**congrats on 4k posts Jamez. :P

I don't believe it's a force of nature or whatever, but rather a natural chain of events. Our actions, no matter how seemingly insignificant, dictate our future. That's just logical.

I also believe in an afterlife, where good & bad things catch up to you, so I guess that's part of it, too.

Weeeeeeell, lemme put it this way: karma is some people's way of explaining stuff they can't explain. It seems a tad too convinent for me--much like saying unexplainable recoveries are an act of God.

Do I believe in it? Heh, do you really need to ask me that?

For every action, yeah, you're gonna get an equal and opposite one, in this life. But I don't believe in reincarnation, so I guess the whole karma thing doesn't float with me either. Unless I am confused about the connection between those two there. In which case, karma is just another word for someone somewhere getting even.

*waits for someone to tell her she's stupid, ignorant, wrong, etc etc etc, for having a different view*

OK, Ginny'll stop now. :p  :D

I believe in reincarnation though I believe in something else too...

If there wasn't karma, people wouldn't be living in dumpsters and streets (eventhough some people decides to live there). Their previous lifetime is what brought them to this point.

The basic idea of 'karma' exists everywhere in life.

- You don't brush your teeth, they get bad and fall out.
- You don't eat properly, you get malnutrition.
- You punch someone, they'll generally punch you back.
- You kill someone, you get jailed.
- You be nice to someone, they'll be nice to you.
- Study, do homework, you get good grades.

It isn't exactly 'magical', but it definetely does exist. And cloricus, with the 'newbie wiccan crap' as you so graciously put it. Don't insult what you don't understand. You have no idea wether wicca is actually true or not. So be careful what you say, you never know, someone on this board could be wiccan and you could have a hex put on you or something. Just remember, karma doesn't just apply to deeds, it applies to everything.

Newt, did I say that Wicca didn't work?
No, I said that it is Wiccan crap to scare off people who are trying to be cool and do ?magical? stuff. The threefold rule is complete crap.
(*Steps back, though I don?t want to find out if it is real.*)

*Looks*?

Teacher, levitate... Dude your memory has screwed with the words. It would have been friends and well I'm not sure what would have replaced levitate. Some thing?
But meh, yeah at my last school me and some others tried a few hundred spells and stuff. (Out of boredom.) A few of them worked but I guess you could put them down to coincidence. :P

I mean no offence when I say this, but I see that as the same kind of attitude as the stereotypical religious "Your bad circumstances are a result of your sins" attitude.. which I don't really agree with at all, cos it kind of says "there are no circumstances that you couldn't avoid, had you been a better person"

but still, as I said, I meant no offence, and didn't mean to put your beliefs down.. that's just my personal opinion

I agree with you. I think people just used that as an excuse. You're who you are, and you have a choice of being bad or good (there's always exception in special cases). YOu just can't blame everything that's happennning because of your previous action.
