It's sad that they are running it...Just go buy the greatest anime ever, and both movies, and the japanese directors cut, and watch it 50 times like I have :0 Then devote your life tu puzzeling out the religous imagry, the Joycian quest for identity and self, the exestential philosophy, and the downright dysfunction of the whole collective human race!
Ont he plus side, they ran 2 Robotec episodes. That was neto, nevermin that it was toatal out of oder (ep 1 from Macross Saga, and one from arround the end of the Invid saga).

I personaly am waiting for the next Evangelion movie, me and Shy think it will either be
"Fuyutski and Friends" - a while rhomp through Montrasore Fuyutski's days as a college professor...
"Another Clip Show"-A clip show of End Of Evangelion with some new stuff like and Asuka dream sequence leading into "Creating a New World"- starting over square 1, literaly.
OR- "A Hentai Flick"- Heideki Anno messes witht eh fans minds again and says you must be 18+ to compleet your Eva collection!

They should never run "high brow anime" (bebop, trigun, eva) for the kiddies let them keep their "low brow anime" (DBZ, Sailor Moon, Ranmah 1/2), the stuff that meens nothing.

For some reason I had a hard time reading AND comprehending that... ^_^;

ANYWHO, well, what's done is done and it can't be undone. But I guess I will take assurance that those children aren't seeing the real Eva no matter how misled they are. I will pray for them that they may see better days and happy sunshine...

*Shuts up*

I think I'm just confusing myself. ^_^ Anywho, I still don't agree with it AT ALL, but who am I? Just some stupid American teenager who thinks they know everything...

Hey by the way, Sith, I LOVE your ava. Send me the picture? :toothy:

OH ALSO, I happen to be a big Ranma 1/2 fan. I don't appreciate you sticking it right there next to the worst anime of all time: Dragon Ball Z. -_-

I don't understand anything you are writing (SITH), which is kind of sad because you keep mentioning me in your posts.

Ergh, Evangelion on Cartoon Network was a disaster. Now there are going to be little five-year olds who can walk around thinking that they have seen Evangelion.

But everyone has to start somewhere, right? This might encourage more people to look into the series. Of course, some anime fans are so greedy. It seems like they don't want anyone else to watch anime but themselves.

I am starting to seriously hate Cartoon Network and FCC. Neon Genesis Evangelion and the Dragon Ball series are my favorite anime, and I can bet anyone that Dragon Ball Z would not be disliked as much if it weren't for the English version seen in America. Sadly, after seeing these horrendous episodes, not even watching the Japanese version would change their minds about the franchise.

Either way, Neon Genesis Evangelion does not deserve to be in Cartoon Network, because Cartoon Network is forced to edit whatever minor thing FCC might find inappropriate for children, which brings me to my next point. Neon Genesis Evangelion isn't for kids. The mere thought of generalizing all anime into kids' show is a retarded idea, since it holds back the true potential of the product.

If I start hearing from people that Evangelion sucks from watching it on Cartoon Network, just like they did with FUNimation's Dragon Ball Z, I'll move back to South America and watch Locomotion (best anime channel on the planet) again.

Oh, and not to mention the incredibly horrible ADV dub of the series, but I won't get into that. The Mexican version is a masterpiece though, and if you have the DVDs, give it a try. Simply excellent.

Fine, since you all insist... I dislike the stuff that is intended for kids, aka DBZ, it is...for lack of a better word, lacking, in my opinion; it's primarily a group of people beating themselves senseles to save the world "again."
Ranmah...uh I've seen a few episodes...I was no impressed, it frightened me, hopefuly it is more like Yu-Yu Hakusho than DBZ.
I agree that intrest in the series is great, it may make GAINAX kick Hidiek Anno into action again, to earn some hard cold American Greenbacks. (see sequle potential list above). As for more fans, that is not necessarily better, they could be very very shallow and just say -"wow, look at that blood, how awsom!!! Wha? She's naked, freeking cool! They didn't show that on CN! Shiji did what!? How did they ever get the permision of the FCC to show this?!"- Then when we reach a dream sequence it will be something like this -"Awwww, another one of these...time for the reefer..."-

-Change

This better everyone?

Okay kiddies...behave now... But I have to agrre with all of you. I think that CN's intro to Eva during Giant Robot Week was awesome. (Hey although I now have tha 1st DVD...) its just showing that CN's opening its eyes to the reality of better amines that DBZ!!! That's all no more no less. Now if they can continue with that...that'll be even better and hopefully Adult Swin will begin to incorporate more animes...But I really want there to be and ALL-day amine, on CN!!!

Even if they have the shows chooped up...it may get people mre interested in buying the VHS's or DVD's for themselves.....

Hhhm....now if they do make and all day anime... I wonder what they'll name it!!!!!!

Yu Yu Hakusho is a lot more like DBZ than Ranma 1/2 was or ever will be... so I'm not sure what you have to worry about.

I have no real problem with anime being edited for TV. It's just how America is, so people just have to get used to it. People have to start somewhere, and I'd like to think it would be nice to expose people to anime they might normally never watch. If they have to see it in it's edited form so be it. If they truly like it, they'll hunt out the DVDs and see it in its original form anyway.

You people act like televising anime is horrible thing. Some of us (ex: ME) can't afford much anime, or don't have the connection speed to download it. I love watching most televised anime, and there are much worse anime than DBZ.

Televising anime may change the content quite a bit, but it opens up anime to future anime fans. Or just gives them something to do. With out televised anime, I wouldn't know anything about anime. Can't you people see that there are good things that come with televising masterpieces such as EVA on television?

And just for the record I have seen all of EVA. ;)

I agree completely. I wouldn't have bought the Cowboy Bebop DVDs or Outlaw Star's Perfect Collection if it weren't for Cartoon Network. However, there are always two sides to a coin. The negative would still be that casual fans (which are greater in number) will think of Evangelion as a bad show, because of the horrible editing. Not all shows are well edited, like Cowboy Bebop... and some even end up like Dragon Ball Z, and all of you have seen the horrible results.

Evangelion has a lot of stuff that FCC has previously shown a dislike for, which is why the predictions for a decent EVA showing are null.

I see you're point Cyke... but if people will be able to point out how horrible the editing is then they may wanna go back and check out the unedited version for themselves. That'a what I go back and do and I'll continue to do it... So as for an intro to and anime series that I may fid myself liking then I'll be open to it...
