I don't see why she would even put her self in that position at that age.Condoms may not be 100 percent but its better than nothing.14 is a really young age to be having a baby.

She might have stopped her social life early on but what about the childs life.I was born to a young mother and its tougher on he child than most people think. The moms not ready.making every normal problem she has twice as hard on the child.

Whats gonna happen when the mom finally gets old enough to leave. She has two mouths to feed right off the bat got the mom trying to find a way to pay for food, shelter, education.

Not to mention that what abot her parents. If they think its wrong they could choose not to take care of her and her child. You might think its impossible but it happens everyday.

I just think its way to much for both her ad her child.

i agree with WC here.

If the Young mother doesent want the child putting it up for adoption is not that traumatizeing. MY BIRTH MOTHER DID THAT TO ME!!

Adoption is So much better then KILL another living person.

Killing another living thing. One of your own would in My opinion be more traumatizeing then Giving one up for adoption so it may have a better life then NO life at all.

edit: Plus i feel its quite stupid to even be SEXUALY active at that age.... quite Irisponsible in my opinion.

Well either way it will be. I was just saying that it would be a better decision. But if she gives the child up for adoption then so be it, its her decision and we are just stating our opinions and my opinion was that i think that she should have an abortion.

Thanks everyone. She was actually probably only half thinking when she did that Blanko. Her parent's just dviorced, and a lot of pressure is on her at the moment. Now, a baby on top of it is too much. The tests at the Doctor's surgery proved that she is a few weeks pregnant, nearly a month. Kim's really traumatized, and her parents are very firm about her giving birth to the baby and then giving it up for adoption. She's able to carry the baby inside, so there is no abortion involved. As I said before, her parents are Catholic, and very anti-abortion.

I'll add my two cents worth in.
First of all I feel sorry for you friend getting pregnant at such a young age, but it is important to remember that a child is a blessing not a curse.
Second of all it seems that everybody is in agreement that abortion isn't the answer.
Third of all adoption isn't the answer either I'll tell you why:
My girlfriend's twin sister got pregnant at 14 too, she gave the child up for adoption, then she got pregnant again at 17, she kept this one only because she was so racked with guilt about giving the first one up.
D*Star tell your friend this or have her read it herself: DO NOT I repeat DO NOT give the child up for adoption, she'll regret it for the rest of her life. I couldn't imagine life with out my daughter if my girlfreind had given her up. She wanted to but her sister talked her out of it. It will be hard for your friend but if her family really loves her they'll help her with the child. Also tell her to get after the childs father for childsupport, if he's too young to pay depending on the laws in your state you can go after his parents. I repeat DO NOT let her give the child up for adoption, I'm pretty sure there's a hotline you can call, she might also want to seek a professional, failing that a school counsler or teacher.
This is all I can give for help.

The mother might regret it, but if she isn't a fit mother, then the child will regret it the rest of their life. And then she'll end up on Jenny Jones as an "out of control teen" who drink, smokes, and has sex with 30 year old guys. Sometimes, regardless of how the mother feels, adoption is the right answer for a better life for the child.

Abortion can really destroy a girl. Many sink into depression if they have an abortion, and they're racked with guilt. Most of them regret it for the rest of their lives.

If she doesn't want the baby, give it up for adoption. At least that way, she won't have the guilt...to such a degree.

DON'T HAV AN ABORTION!
If you think about it this way, a child could be the best thing that could happen in her life. She would learn responsibility and she wouldn't have to go through the trauma of thinking what would of happend if she did have the baby. Also that adoption really depends on what she thinks. Stick up for your friend and try to help her during this hard time.

All i have to say is that she has to take responsability for what she has done. that means staying with the kid when there is a cool party or something fun to do. No slacking off. If she can't hack that then adoption is the only answer.
I forget where i heard this but it makes sense here:
(daughter on street corner talking with friends)
Mother:Girl! come up here and take care of this baby.

(daughter on street looking up at window)

Daughter:fine
(after daughter goes back outside baby cries again)

Mother:girl come up here to this baby!

daughter: fine
(daughter goes back up and then goes back to her friends. Baby cries yet again)

Mother: girl come up and take care of this baby.

daughter: NO!

Mother:see how easy that was? Why didn't you say that to your boyfriend?

Yeah, I feel sorry for your friend, but it was strictly her fault.
Health teachers always talk about not having a sex, and once our math class started arguing about abortions. We all know that she's probably going to regret this, right?
Last year (evil sixth grade...), I totally slacked out in a lot of my subjects, and I got a 40 something on my pre-algebra exam. My mom was, of course, pissed and I got grounded for two months and got a harsh hitting. I felt bad about it for about three days and then I was back to my usual habits again. I failed about every math test that whole year. Things got worse and I landed in two days ISS once. Everything is okay now, but do you get my point?
Even though getting pregnant is much more extreme than failing math tests, you gotta make sure she doesn't make the mistake again, since I hear a lot of girls do.

Oh my god! 14 years old!? Well, there is always an alternative to abortion, which is adoption. If you live in california, you can leave a baby at the steps of a hospital if its under a month old or something like that. But then, you always have to face that letter or email one day from your lost child. But I'm really sorry for your friend, and I hope she gets threw this.

I don't adoption is somewhat good and bad at the same time. It's good because many people hope that their children will have better lives if they live with someone else, and they do it for a good cause. It also allows people that can't have children to be able to adopt unfortunate ones. But one day, the child will probably learn why she was put on adoption. If I were that person, I couldn't help but to wonder of I was just someone that a teenage girl threw away. To know that you were born with hate and contempt isn't really a nice feeling.

God, the number of bleeding hearts. I swear, you'll all going to do me in with this mushy 'abortion' crap. Please, people. Countries are bombing and shooting at each other, and you find the time to cry over a barely sentient being, of which, morally, shouldn't have been created.

Moreover, if the child was NOT a product of rape, then the mother has no one to blame but herself. Harsh? Yes. True? Yes. I'm tired of people running around doing this and that, only to turn around sniveling and whining about "It's so sad this happened" and the assorted junk. I had a friend die in a car wreck a few years ago because he had been drinking while doing 120 down the highway. Though he survived for a few days, he knew how I felt to the matter; I was both angry and yet deeply hurt at the same time. He was like a brother to me, but I still just wanted to backhand the piss out of him.

It's high time people started taking responsibility for their foolish decisions.

Why do you insist to have a child born that nobody wants? Might as well kill it off early.

I'm sure that there are potential parents for the child. How can you automatically assume that no one wants the baby? There are plenty of couples unable to have children who would love an opportunity to become parents.

Putting the child up for adoption would probably be the best course of action in this situation. Aborting a child will leave a scar on a woman that will never go away. The mental and emotional side effects that accompany abortion never disappear. In this case, we're dealing with a scared, confused, fourteen year old girl. So, it's quite unfair to dismiss the issue as mushy and unimportant in the grand scheme of things. This is a life affecting decision.

Her conscience probably wouldn't be able to bear the procedure and its consequences. It would be a heavy burden to carry and she would inevitably have to tell her family--which would create problems.

If the child is put up for adoption, it has a fair chance in life--and can make a couple extremely happy. There's no way a fourteen year old girl can support a child. She would have to rely on her parents, which doesn't appear to be an option.

I think having a baby when your too young can usually crush all your dreams of becoming whatever you want to be when you grow up. Yes sometimes I am for abortion under the conditions that you have been raped. But I'm against abortion if the mother and father weren't careful enough to make sure that the mother wouldn't get pregnent, because thats their own fault. If this happens and the parents don't want the baby give it up for adoption so the baby will have the chance to have a better life. Plus people that young shouldn't be having sex in the first place. If the mother was to have the baby 99.9% chance of the father not give two s***s about the baby, the father of the baby was most likey there just for the sex. I had a friend thats now 14 but she was 13 when she was pregnant, her parents took her to get an abortion, and two times when my 18 year old cousin thought she was pregnant 2 times when she was 16. All I can tell ya is to stand by your friend support her all you can, don't leave her alone, at this time she needs you the most .

I'm very sorry to hear of another teen preganancy. And to your best friend, too.

But it's her own fault. You can't blame depression on having sex, unless she was drunk and didn't know what she was doing or was raped. Most likely she just had sex with some guy because she was depressed...but still, you can't blame depression on that.

She's the one that can control guys getting into her pants.

I think you should talk more to her to see what's going on and find out how it happened, if she's willing to share that info with you.

Good stuff, this just shows you that people even though they are book smart doesn't mean that they are street smart. She made a stupid mistake and it will ruin her. Heh, tell her I said "Good job f.ucking up your life." Because she is a bit too young, 16 years of age I could of understood but not 14... She should of been taking pills if she was doing that stuff or make the boy wear a condom.

She did wear a condom, as she told me, but its only cheap plastic, that can tear, which evidently did. She found this prgrma for teen pregnancy, helping young mothers to be. She told me about this poem on a leaflet, it means a lot though.
10 minutes pleasure
9 months of pain
3 days of burden
a lifetime of of your child
though she won't have an abortion, she is 2 months pregnant and belly is showing a bit, and she's going to be off school for the rest of the time, bieng taught at home. I thing, teenage pregnancy is no joke. You are ridden with guilt whatever path you choose. Abortion or adoption :/ I feel so sorry for Kim..and those 10 mins were no pleasure for her.
