Zephyr
Is it just me, or does G-Saviour seem like it should not have the right to call itself a Gundam moive? I rented and watched the movie yesterday and all I can say is that allowing it to be written and made in America was a big mistake. The plot is too American, in my opinion, and the effects are very cheesy. Some of the scenes were good, like when the G-Saviour cuts through the debris field with its sword, but most of the effect would have been better with models (like they should have done with the colonies). The only other thing that really bugged me was the fact that the MS origins seemed backward. For instance, the Bugu (whichi was like a Zaku) was from the CONSENT group which was from Earth, and the GM-like designs (I forget the name) were from the colony Side 8 (or Gaea). Yu Law
LOL. Better if done with a model lol I haven' seen it but now I'm not in a huge rush to lol
Guest Hikaru Ichijyo
Well it's not a bad movie, when you compare it to the live action Dragon Ball movie Hong Kong made. However it does fall short on many levels the characters are too "fake", and there isn't enough Mech fights. It seemed like something scifi channel would of made and aired, not the Japanese. However for the first attempt at a live action Gundam movie it wasn't too bad, and in order to fully understand the story you would of had to play the PS2 Game called G-Saviour. Zephyr
Originally posted by Rick Hunter It seemed like something scifi channel would of made and aired, not the Japanese.
You are not far from the truth. The entire movie was made in America. The only thing about it that truely had anything to do with Japan was the fact that the company was given the rights to make it by Bandai corp. Domon
Uhhh.. Cute_Eyes. Can you add a little bit more to your post, just one word lines are considered spam. But back onto the subject. G-Savior wasn't that whoppee looking to me, i mean yes the graphics for the mobile suits were quite nice but it just looked so damn cheesy i'm sorry but as a gundam fan i consider the movie an insult. I mean come on! It would have been better if they would have made the movie like the Final Fantasy movie, i mean good lord! There weren't even that many mech fights, it was one of those cheap movies that couldn't stand on its own two legs, the only reason it got recognized because it had the name GUNDAM on it. I'm sorry but the movie was just crap. Okay i'm gonna shut my mouth before i explode.
Guest Hikaru Ichijyo
Well I think graphic wise it was rather sub average it was pretty good design wise but I've seen better. As for a full CGI Gundam movie, that's never going to happen they budget bandai and Sunrise set for these type of productions is very low. However if your willing to look hard enough they did do the first 2 episodes of the Original Mobile Suit Gundam show in complete CGI and it's available on Region 0 dvd you just have to look hard enough for it. But even then the CGI isn't all that great..and it deters away from the genre of "anime" in a sense the reason why this movie failed was the fact it didn't feel like an anime but another low budget scifi flick. That could be one reason why every was let down with this film.
Yu Law
how ca G-savir look like that and Jurassic Pak look like it does??? They should have spet a pretty penny on it and made it lok lie Final fantasy Now then it would have been a must see
Yoda
The movie isn't all that bad, it certainly isn't the worst movie I've seen... but it did lack quite a bit, I especially thought there should have been quite a few more battles. Also, as Rick Hunter said previously, to fully understand the plot you would have to play "G-Savior" on the PS2.
Domon
Meh. I only understand the plot of an anime when I actually can just sit there and watch and enjoy it. Of course G-Savior was a live-action movie. You're both right. But who is gonna go get a game that hasn't been released in english and play it just to understand the plot of a movie? I sure as heck won't. I think thats a waste of money, espically if the game is a piece of crap. Sorry but i just think that's stupid. Whoever directed the damn movie should have put more thought into the development of the plot.
