Amorphous
Well here is a shred of proof that I would like to share with people and how evil cigarette companies are. In the 1980's cigarette companies or company, had made this plan to target Homosexual and Homeless people for cigarettes. They made this plan to increase there sales obviously and it just produced more deaths in the outcome, the one thing that really gets to me is that a major Corporation such as them would actually give the name of this project. Project SCUM. Oh but don?t worry, I bet they meant that in a good way -_- That is pretty bad though.
JCBaggee
Yeah, that commercial's been airing forever. God, I hate big tobacco companies... --Chris
LostProphet
I didn't mind the commercials at first, but now it just seems like they're pushing their opinion on me a LITTLE too much. I don't smoke, and I learned from my parents experiences that I shouldn't even try. I GET IT, LEAVE ME ALONE!
Amorphous
naw I wasn't trying to push opinions on anybody, I just kinda of thought of it as a fact, I guess I kinda of thought it was an interesting fact. I'm not trying to tell people to stop smoking, thats your decision. Thats just something I felt like sharing that I saw on T.V. Hey this board is to share things, not to push believes. Kent
I dont really care about the commercial or them pushing an agenda on me. I dont smoke "ciggs" but I used to and all my friends used to. I didnt quit because of commercials, I quit because I wanted to. The worst part of this is that they dont mention a company name as towards who was doing this, so that is not a good sign when it comes to the factual side. Even worse is the fact that if I was gonna try and target my cigg smoking population, gays and low income/homeless people would be on this marketers list of possibles. Sorry to say it, but thats just good strategy when it comes to selling smokes. Although I still think the idea of "project scum" is pretty crappy. However, I would have really liked it if they would have just said a company name. It would have added greatly to the ads validity. Otherwise it ends up sounding like another one of those bogus political reports coming from "an unnamed source inside the pentagon."
Transtic Nerve
Sub Culture Urban Marketing Despire how much I don't like cigarrette companies, they are business geniouses. They market young to get them hooked. Coca-Cola kinda did that. They put Cocain in Coke to hook people. Anyway, I don't like the fact they lied to the US people or that they market to young people. Many of my friends smoke, hell I've had a few here and there, but not anymore. It pains me they can't see that this is hurting them so much. But oh well, it's not my life and I won't let them ruin mine. Which is why i voted for the anti-smoking law in Florida.
vegeta rocker
If people are stupid enough to think blowing smoke out of their lungs makes them look like rebels i have no sympathy for them. But eventually when they need them just to lose stress thats when it gets sad. My father mentioned that coccaine thing to me when i was younger. Just seems weird. Have you ever seen the girl who used to advertise Luckys in the old days when they had no evidence ciggs were bad? She has to breathe through a hole in her throat. tabmow
Cigarette companies are no worse than any other coorperation that markets a product aimed at a specific group. The only difference is that their product has little redeeming value. I will not call people who smoke stupid, but on the other hand I don't want them infringing on me. People should be informed about the products that they use ( and abuse) and the damage it does to their bodies. For example look a Mc Donalds they sell high fat death burgers and market them to young children. Are they any less evil than cigarette companies. ( After I post this I must go find Jungle Book toys) Think of the poor homeless people that could be brought together by shareing a cigarette or the gay couple that might be inspired to extend the theater or fashion industry after they met by sharing a *** (cigarette) there are possibly good things that can come from the tobacco industry. The tobacco industry is just like legalized drug lords and arent they a cute cuddly lot. Give everybody the information legalize everything an let people pay the consequences or declare Tobacco product illegal and prosecute them as criminals, but until this is don't they have a legal right to exist. Just remember when you put down rules to regulate stuff the stuff you like might be regulated. P.S. on a personal note I really don't think human smoke stacks are cool. There a quicker ways to kill your self that are probably less painful and you won't give anyone more ammunition to regulate the rest of us. Suicide is illegal already. :flaming: <----- Human Smokestack while smoking :cross: <------ after smoking :butthead: -----I'm a smoker
