It's official. LP's next album will be entitled "Meteora" and will be released on Tuesday March 25, 2003 in the US and on Monday March 24, 2003 internationally. The title of the first single will be "Somewhere I Belong".
What do you guys think about their next album? Is it going to be as good as "Hybrid Theory"? post you comments.

Ah, I doubt this will be successful. Hybrid Theory was a great album, and I was, and I suppose still am, a big LP fan. I feel though, that making Re Animation, basically a remix album, with only 1 albums under there belt, was like shooting themselves in the foot. I will probably get this album, but I won't tell anyone I have ^_^;;;

As long as Linkin Park can stnd up to their standards, I'll be happy. I just like them as they are. And I can't wait to hear this song... I know I'll like it...and if I don't... then I'll put my foot in my mouth and never comment like this again.....

Many bands put out simple remix albums after their first release, especially if their original CD did very well. It keeps them somewhat in the spotlight and on the minds of people a lot better than simply waiting another couple years and putting another CD out. For example, if it wasn't for Reanimation, there probably wouldn't have been a topic on them at all between Hybrid Theory and this (mulitply this by a thousand times to take into account all other boards and stuff that might talk about it).

That said, I think the album title is really stupid. It sounds like a spell in FF. The single doesn't exactly interest me either, as it sounds just as angsty as their others (I'm basing that on the title of course)... But to each his own lol, you guys have fun with it :).

Linkin Park is too overplayed. I used to love their songs, but I hate them now. Everywhere u turned, it was Linkin Park. Lets hope these songs breathe new life into them.

Me and my friend have been waiting since forever for this next album. She checked their site almost everyday waiting for updates lol. No, we're not fans...really...*smiles*
I got Hybrid Theory coz I liked In the End when I heard it. Linkin Park totally turned me from a teenybopper to a...me.
I got reanimation the first day it came out lol. I prolly won't do the same with Meteora.
AND JUST THIS...rap oriented? RAP ORIENTED??? rap oriented my ***. I'm sorry but linkin park is anything BUT rap. if you call what mike does rap, you have serious issues. its called MCing because it's not rap...DUH!
oh and ANOTHER THING...reanimation was not crap. It was really good considering most remix albums just have a simple dance beat slapped behind them. All the songs were totally reinvented, new lyrics, a new feel to every song, and it took ages to make.
I'm looking forward to meteora

LP released a remix album because all you fans couldn't wait for a new album, so they made one. Basically to shut some of you up for a while so they could get to work on some new stuff.

I really couldn't tell you if this new album would be good, because simply, I haven't heard any songs from it. When I hear their single, I'll tell you if it lives up to some stuff on Hybrid Theory.

The way they mix the genres makes them tight. If they get too rappy they end up sounding dumb. I couldn't stand it's going down with the executioners. The rap with the heavy music and heavy scratching is great, but if they get too rappy then they will lose some of their heavy edge. Thus they will cease to be TIGHT. :therock:

I'm a pretty big LP fan and I liked "Reanimation" almost as much as I liked "Hybrid Theory", But if "Meteora" (it does sound like a FF spell doesnt it lol) is half as good as "Hybrid Theory" its gonna be a success. I just can't wait till march ^_^

Meteora is actually a huge landmark in Greece, from the biggest and most important group of monasteries in Greece after those in Mount Athos.

LP mentioned something about wanting to make the place famous by naming an album after it. Sounds kinda arrogant, but hey, whatever.

I'm kind of waiting for the new album. It's been so long since LP actually put some solid stuff out, I don't know whether or not I'll like their new stuff. I'd BETTER still be a fan... I heard that the mood for "Somewhere I Belong" is gonna be a fairly hopeful and optimistic one. Wow, that'll be odd; something from Linkin Park that doesn't portray hopelessness...

 • 4 weeks later...
They have alot to live up to after their first album. Thats what sucks about very very good first albums. You have to live up to that, and I don't think LP can. It's gonna be really difficult to please the masses and my guess is the masses won't like this album as much as Hybrid Theory.

It sounds like typical Linkin Park though. Better than some of the songs they've put out. It's too short though. Way too short. Should be at least another minute longer.

I'm listening to the song right now and so far... I can't say nothing bad about it... They seem to be staying tru to the Hybrid Theory mode as of now...

Now just to hear the res will be the tru test!!!!

I listened to the song finally. There's nothing great or anything about it at all. It just doesn't sound good to my ears. Ah well, my tastes have changed a lot...So I really doubt if I'll be getting into them as much as I used to.

I also heard the new song and from a few listens it's beginning to get catchy all ready. I hope 'Meteora' can live up to Hybrid Theory and maybe even improve on it. I think the only bad thing about Hybrid Theory was Cure For An Itch (talented skills, but just not my kind of music) and the fact I find it one of my shortest albums I've got. It was quite addictive to repeat it, but I would like it longer with maybe a few extra songs. :) I have high expectations ...

Well at least Reanimation was better than Limp Bizkit's remix album 'New Old Songs' lol. :demon:
