A sad day in history...

I heard the news today as well on the radio. I couldn't believe it, i knew the man was old but as Charles said i didn't think he was pushing 80. I used to watch him along with Lambchop's singalong. And we all know Sherry Lewis is dead, i felt really bad when i heard she died. Now i fell really bad that Mr. Rogers died. I can't believe it, the world has lost a great person. I always loved watching Mr. Rogers when i was at home or at my grandma's, it was the T.V. show i lived for. I agree, a lot of today's youth has lost a great man.

man, i was hard-core about some mr. rogers' neighborhood. i knew everything about that show. what a shame to loose such a big part of a lot of people's childhood (especially mine).

*goes to find a cardigan*
im totally going to wear this thing to school tomorrow.
*decides that the changing of shoes and cardigan every time one enters a room is a bit much*
i wont go that far, but the cardigan rocks.

*trolley takes mr. rodgers into the land of make-believe*
*waits for the trolley to come back around*
...
*sighs a forlorn sigh*

Yeah I heard he died. How sad, I mean I used to watch that show every day when I was younger... well, I guess that will be one of those random things I will remember of childhood, and how it just ended my senior year of high school. *sigh* Mr. Rogers, my neighbor. *sigh*

Man, I'm soo behind. Been busy all day, and I'm just now hearin about Mr. Rogers dying. Mr. Rogers will definetly be missed in my eyes due to the fact that I grew up with Mr. Rogers. I'll never forget when I was a kid(about 4 or somethin), I'd wake up in the mornin and watch Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street. The opening theme was that heat though. I loved the way he always ended it with "Wont you be....my neighbor." Put on them shoes and everything. For some odd reason, when I was a kid, I always loved that part(probably because I expected it for every episode). Mr. Rogers was definetly the man when it came to childrens television.

So like someone said earlier, Mr. Rogers, you will always be my favorite neighbor. Rest In Peace my man and I'll see you when I get there. 1Love.

Somewhere far off the children cry. Somewhere far off the sky isn't as shiny as it used to be. The world is moving on, but they've lost and lost--something is dying. The pure innocence of being a child ruffs through my hair. It blows in the wind and sways, wandering off.

Something has died, it can't quite be pinned. It wasn't just a momentary death, either. It was something more. That man emblazoned more than just a man, he was an entire era. He was an entire generation.

Far away I can still hear the tune play. Far away, maybe in years and years after and come, children will still smile, and remember.

Mr. Rogers will smile that genuine smile, saying so suavely and wonderfully: "Won't you be my neighbor?" And somewhere, somewhere far off and gone, his grave will stand, the forefront to the death of a generation. And the tears will fall and tumble into a nothingness that will never be filled by any such figure ever again.
Thats very pretty..And yes. I agree. Mr.Rogers, you'll never be replaced. Not while I'm around...

Ahh the never forgotten song...

It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood,
A beautiful day for a neighbor.
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?...

It's a neighborly day in this beauty wood,
A neighborly day for a beauty.
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?...

I've always wanted to have a neighbor just like you.
I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.

So, let's make the most of this beautiful day.
Since we're together we might as well say:
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?
Won't you please,
Won't you please?
Please won't you be my neighbor?

Mmm. I do not see why this was moved here. It isn't about the TV show, it is about the death of a wonderful man. But whatever. It's still shown in OL....:Wanders off:
It's quite simple. Most of Mr. Rogers' contributions were in the area of children's programming; it's what he is most widely known for. So, of course, it was only natural that discussion regarding his show would arise. Thus, the discussion is most relevant to this forum.
