Vegitto4
Well guys, i'm going to see the recruiters tonight. I just wanted to see what you guys would suggest. Those of you that know me, i'm a jarhead at heart, but i am probably gonna go with the one that offers me the better deal. Any thoughts, on anything having to do with the army or marines. Heaven's Cloud
Well, if you want to see combat, learn combat skills, and be a soldier, then it truly doesn't matter...although the Marines is usually a more likely choice. If you want a job with the possibility of reading maps and doing technical work, it is usually safer to join the army...at least that is what my buddies in the millitary told me. I always thought that if I joined the service, I would go in as a Marine, but that is just my preference.
silentdeath
hey,hey,hey..... i put marines cause my old teacher was in the persion gulf as a marine and he said he wouldn't trade those days for the world and that he never regreted joining one day of his life. Harry
Marines definately, army are just drones they use to send in and they don't care if you live or die, marines you can go somewhere.
Subversive
Marines are Elite, Marines all the way (If not Air Force, thats what I would join)
JCBaggee
I cannot answer this, because I am biased to the all branches. My father is retired military, and as a result I've moved around all my life. Don't fall in love with someone until you're almost out man...moving around all tha time will screw you up. Best of luck, whatever your choice. --Chris

That sounds like one of the most backwards things ever said on the board. But what ever... I say that you should think about what you wanna do or what you will most likely end up doing. I would personally join the army, go into jump school, try to become a ranger, then try to work my way into something like a permenant position in special forces. Good luck with your decision... I should mention that my father was a ranger. So I just might be a little biased.:naughty: army all the way!!!:demon: ---------------------------- edit: I also wanna mention that if your gonna go in and just be an average enlisted man, and you want to be "hard," join the marines. The marine basic training is harder and the women and men are not integrated. However, you can't become a green beret in the marines, nor can you work with the greatest special forces troops in the world.
Vegitto4
lol. Thanks guys. I just got back, and the marine guy was out. I called him, and left a messgae, he'll call me back tomorrow. now, the army guy. He gave me the low down on the split ops program, which is enough money for college, and then some So, if the marines give me a batter deal, i'll go with them. What sucks, is that i will be disqualified from any branch if they find out i'm bipolar.
Subversive
I hope the Marine guy gives you a better offer. Either way best of luck, and may God guide you on your way. ^^
Lady Macaiodh
I couldn't imagine joining any branch with what's going on right now. Just don't get yourself killed.
LostProphet
HEY! Wheres Air Force man? I'm doing my physical over break, then I'll be Airman Ryan....Marines...ok...Bullet Magnets. Army is dumb and Navy thinks they're a bunch of Butt Doctors. Oh Well. Air Force rules you all HAHA (Passes Out)
Rikku
Definately Marines. I've talked to a Marine, and he showed me this take-down manuver (was really cool; I tried it on my brother too. ^_^;;) and told me about how you have to be smart to get in...Well, not a genius, but you have to take classes and go to a boot camp for a total of three months. The boot camp isn't as tough as other branches.
Transtic Nerve
Originally posted by LostProphet HEY! Marines...ok...Bullet Magnets.
Exactly why he should join them.

Rikku
Not quite. I think he said it wasn't as grueling. But you're probably right. =)
LostProphet
Army BASIC (not boot camp, and its caps) is 8 weeks long, while Marines clock in at 13 weeks. Air Force is 7 weeks, and it's only been that long for about a year (They put something in similar to The Crucible in Marine Basic). Navy, I'm not entirely sure. As for after BASIC, it all depends on the field you go into and which branch. Marine Infantry and Army Infantry schools are different lengths. tabmow
I might be misreading this but did Rikku say Marine Corp Boot wasn't as tough as other branches. I think you need to do a little research. The Marine Corps is the largest special forces outfit in the world (Sorry leathernecks - you are under the Navy Department). Aside from Special Forces Group training from all the services Marines go through the toughest training of any of the forces. The job of the Marines is to take and hold territory until the army can come in a more permanently secure it( aside from embassy, shipboard, and other security details) If you are going Marine Corps because you think it will be the easiest of the Services You are either very misinformed or Justy Uriki Tylor's twin (Irresponsible Captain Tylor)
Vegitto4
The reason I am joining the marines is because it's the toughest. I also have always felt like a marine at heart. Hey will, u know Kurt ward? he signed up, the recruiter was making fun of him, it was hilarious

LostProphet
Ummm....trust me, I've done my research. I'm going into the military, and I know what they go through. My entire family is military, all branches represented. From what I've heard, Marines are the hardest. No I dont know Kurt Ward. Who the hell is he? Guest TLOL_Vash
:/ US army rangers aren't usually classed as 'normal army' closer to marines I think and hooah is their line :/ but then i'm no exoert on the US armed fores infostructure, just the guns they use, but I think marines are better, all out war is a waste of life marines make a minimum possible sacrifice
