Have you ever felt on the top of the world late at night, then you went to bed and felt depressed the next morning? I feel like this every day and night it really get annoying, so that is why I stay up all night. Does anyone else have the same problem?

Peh, who wants to get up in the morning?

The prospect of catching the bus at 5:30 holds little romance for me, anyway.

I'm usually flat out exhausted at night. The best part of the day is burying myself in blankets and drifting off. ^_^

Trumen, what you're describing are two extremes. Extremes are usually the least likely of possibilities, which is why I can hardly relate to your situation. However, I DO feel quite motivated to study, work out, and improve myself overall when nighttime arrives. When I get up in the morning/noon/afternoon, I usually don't feel like doing much.

Well, I approach this a little differently. I feel like I'm on top of the world because it's time to sleep. =) Sleeping is the only thing that makes me happy. It's when my mom isn't bitching at me and I'm not at school. What could be better? ^^;;

I absolutely love sleeping, but I can't get myself to fall asleep. ^_^; Before I lay down, I don't want to sleep, but as soon as I lay down, I get pretty happy. ^_^'

I never get very upset before I sleep. It's usually the opposite for me...

I have strange sleeping patterns, too. Depression can't touch me, but I can relate somewhat.

I'm able to stay awake until odd hours of the morning--no problem and shrug off sleepiness with the help of a quick shower. But, when I actually do get a healthy dose of rest, I feel tired and weak for the entire day. It doesn't make sense. Bah. >_<;;

I've really felt the effects of fatigue this week. I was dog tired last night so I went to bed at a reasonable hour. I snagged about eight hours of sleep. I felt horrible today, hehe. Go figure.

I like sleep. But I like talking to people more. So I tend to sacrifice my sleep for going online quite a bit.
In the morning I feel kinda grouchy, but only until I get to school. I like it when it's late at night, because I can go to sleep, or talk to people, or just get on with whatever I have to do.

So yeah. I guess I'm not really that bothered either way.

*is ill; goes to sleep now*

Sleep is the greatest thing in the world. Nothing beats that feeling of waking up and stretching after a nice, long, peaceful sleep. Not to mention possible dream potential.

On top of the world? Nah...just tired, that's all.

When I wake up I'm too dead to realize where the hell I am, let alone figure out what emotions I'm feeling at the time.

Personally, I find the later I stay up, the more empty and alone I wind up feeling. Probably because there is little else to do other than homework and such. I usually feel fine in the morning once I am actually awake heh.

I tend to have really bizarre dreams though. None are ever nightmares (I've never actually had one that I know of... Well maybe one, but I don't know what that was really), but they either make absolutely no sense or are the most morbid things I have seen up to that point. It's more interesting and weird than bad though lol.

I don't really sleep like you mean. Rather, I take 2 or 3 hour naps (which is why I'm frequently here at odd hours -- now, for instance). But when I'm getting ready to lie down, & it's dark, I start having all these thoughts. Sometimes they run rampant, wake me up, & I end up sitting staring angrily at the wall for an hour. Or I'll worry. Or get sad.

Then I say my prayers, & there's always sooo much to pray for. When I'm about to say "Amen" I'll always think of something else that seems imperative to pray for. I wish there was a universal prayer like "God please read my mind. I pray for all that stuff."

So going to sleep is a pain. Getting up is a pain, too, because there's never a good enough reason, except that I'm lying there bored.

So I guess my answer is that they both suck equally.

I guess I'm kind'a like you when it gets dark something goes off and I get really energetic and alive. It's so weird o.O then when I do finally wind down and get tired (which is about three or four in the morning) I can't go to sleep, my body has to stay still for at the least two hours before I fall asleep. My parents and docter say I'm an insomniac or something like that.:therock: So I usually end up just staying up all night, then going to school. My mind just has this weird subordinate (?) pattern, I'll stay awake for three days then I'll go to bed as soon as I get home and sleep for sixteen hours, get up for school then stay up for another three days. But yeah when it turns night-time I feel like I'm on top of the world. ^_^

Yes, I know wierd:cross:

I guess I'll just completely ignore the main focus of this topic and talk about my sleeping habits, which have basically no relevance but Charles recommended I come here.

On good weeks, I can get up to 7 hours of sleep. On bad weeks when I'm all night, more around 4 1/2-5.

I shall do the same as you. I get around 21 hours of sleep a week. At night, it takes me hours to fall asleep, because I hear voices that keep me awake.

:Laughs:

Topics can branch off. They aren't rigidly restricted to linear discussion. Look at the homosexuality thread that Lady M. started. It ended up delving deeply into homosexuality and discrimination regarding both females and males; not just the male stance regarding lesbianism. You've been here long enough to know that topics are flexible as long as they don't stray totally off course.

The hours of sleep you get can affect your mood and depression--so listing the information is by no means ignoring the main focus of the thread. It ties in with the context of the discussion. You're still talking about sleep. We don't need to have multiple sleep threads on the main page. It becomes redundant.

I should have spelled it out more, but I thought it was obvious to everyone.

I don't think this thread was specifically created with the intent of finding out my sleeping times though. The creator had a much more specific question in mind, posting my sleeping times really means nothing to him. He mentioned nothing about the times he slept in his original post.

It's like taking a post about how to peel oranges the best, and then have someone come out nowhere telling them that they ate oranges last Wednesday and they tasted good.

People were posting about sleeping patterns, which ties in with the amount of time they sleep. And that affects behavior and mood. There's no reason why the thread can't be more general.

People were already touching on how many hours they slept:
I like sleep. But I like talking to people more. So I tend to sacrifice my sleep for going online quite a bit.

Both are related in this instance, for example. He doesn't sleep much, so he feels grouchy. It is nothing like your example where the discussion was irrelevant. It's as if someone has created a thread dealing with sleep issues (not a far stretch there) and the discussion has become more general to cover more aspects of sleep (nor there).

So, there's no reason why people can't post how many hours they sleep and how it affects them. I don't see how this is a big deal, lol.

I suppose I feel bad in the morning when I wake up, but only because I'm semi-concious and don't have a clue what's going on, lol. This is normally resolved with something to eat and/or a shower.

Recently I didn't bother trying to get to sleep for 49 hours.. heh.
