Juu
Whoo... I hope this is the right place to post this. ^_^; Anyways, I was just curious on what books you thought were better than their movies, and which movies were better than the books. Most of the movies probably don't contain all of the information from the original text, but the movie might appeal to more people that way. I did a report on this, sooo... I was just curious on which movies were better than the books, and which books were better than their movies. Soo... 1) Do you usually prefer books or movies? And why? 2) Which books were better than their movies? And why? 3) Which movies were better than their books? And why? 4) Which books/movies did you like equally? JCBaggee
1) Do you usually prefer books or movies? And why? Depends on the movie/book. I like whichever was better, though I usually prefer the movie. Ya know, no reading for the movie. 2) Which books were better than their movies? And why? Hmm...Hannibal. I loved "The Silence Of The Lambs", and was really looking forward to Hannibal, but...man. 3) Which movies were better than their books? And why? Ya know, I can't really think of any....oy... 4) Which books/movies did you like equally? And why? Well, let's see....there were a lot of differences between "Jurassic Park"'s book and the movie, but I found both to be really good. I'm sure there's something I forgot. I'll post it later. --Chris
Guest Anakin Solo
Books are better than the movies, plain and simple. Movies can only fit so much into it, but books can hold the ful story. 1. I prefer books, because you can see the whole story, while things can get cut out of the movies.(i.e. Jurassic Park) 2.Jurassic Park-so much stuff left out. Such as the river chase scene, where the T-Rex is chasing Grant and the kids down a river. In the book, Hammand(sp) dies, in the movie, he lives. -Jurassic Park: The Lost World-Totally different reason why they are there. Different scenes(i.e that one dinosaur that can change its skin colour) -A Beautiful Mind- the movie itself is GREAT, but the books is better. You find out how much times John Nash went the hospital, and things that happened in the family during his whole ordeal. There is more, but I am to lazy to think. 3.Any movie that was written before the book MAY be better. BUT, when the book comes out they usually add things, making it better. Don't have a certain one for this. 4.The Star Wars books and movies. They kept the general idea of them all.
Rhys Mayiessen
1) Do you usually prefer books or movies? And why? I definately prefer books over movies just because I like imagining things better than actually being given the image. 2) Which books were better than their movies? And why? Definately Lord of the Rings the book was better than the movies. Though the movies went faster than the book, the book gave important information so you could understand Tolkien's world. 3) Which movies were better than their books? And why? I can't think of any right now. 4) Which books/movies did you like equally? And why? I think the first Jurassic Park book and movie were the same basically.
Sui Generis
1) Books. Tey leave so much to your imagination. Yet still answer most of your questions, leaving you wanting more. 2) Count of Monte Cristo. I loved the movie, but it was so far from the book. The book was a master piece. Definatly my favorite of all time. 3) N/A None? 4) None really I always thought the books were better...
Sara
1) Do you usually prefer books or movies? And why? Both have their good points, but books are usually better. More in depth, and good scenes that nevermade it to the screen. 2) Which books were better than their movies? And why? Fahrenheit 451 was phenomenally better as a book. The movie was just really, really bad. 3) Which movies were better than their books? And why? Ooh, delicate territory. I actually don't know. 4) Which books/movies did you like equally? And why? EEEEE! The Princess Bride. I love both book and movie--actually, when I found out there actually was a book, I was just about thrilled to death. heh. Tuck Everlasting. I saw the movie when I was really little--it was so cool! I loved it. Again, I didn't know there was a book until afterward. Mmm...I'll think about this some more. There's more stuff I want to go on about, but I need to get off the computer, heh.
Solo Tremaine
Heh, I just finished a piece of coursework about this. 1) Do you usually prefer books or movies? And why? Um... it depends. I like the way a film immerses you into another world, where you can properly picture everything and hear lots of good music (well, usually). Films have such a great ambience to them. On the other hand, books let you make up your own idea about the world being portrayed in it. Although sometimes I have problems visualising things properly, although that's probably just me. Heh, I had visions of Sirius Black being like the Hamburgler >_< 2) Which books were better than their movies? And why? Um... I'd probably have to say Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, because they left out so much about Ron's character and backstory, and the way Hagrid's character was changed really annoyed me- he seemed much weaker in the film, an I preferred his stronger book persona. 3) Which movies were better than their books? And why? Lord of the Rings: both films so far. Maybe it's just me, but I couldn't get into Tolkien's version, if for no other reason than the dialogue was unrealistic and I felt they spent too much time not doing anything. In the book they waited nine months (or something like that) until leaving the Shire with the Ring. Nine months? That just doesn't seem realistic to me at all. I thought the film made it much more dramatic and realistic. 4) Which books/movies did you like equally? And why? Um... The Last Unicorn. That was a great animated movie, and it was a good read, too (by Peter S Beagle, if I remember correctly). I know it's not strictly a film, but the TV series of Truckers was amazing, as was the book. Syk3
1) I usually prefer books when I have the time, since there is so much more detail put into them and they are more enjoyable. Movies only are about an hour an a half; not nearly enough time to fill up all of the exciting points in a book. 2) The Harry Potter books were much better than the movies. I really didn't think the producers did a very good job of capturing most of the scenes as I saw them. *shrug* I suppose I just didn't find the movies that impressive. 3) I thought that the Perfect Storm movie was better than the book (this is the only example I can think of at the time). The movie had lots of action, romance, and excitement, but that book...couldn't keep me awake. :-/ I actually tried to do the book for a book report and ended up scatching the idea not even half way through. The book was really stale, and much too factual for my taste. 4) Deffinitly Lord of the Rings. I saw both movies, actually, before I read the books, and I already really enjoyed the series. Even though I'm only about half way through the first book, I feel that it is a masterpiece of a novel. We're really lucky that such great producers picked up this book to make into a movie. I mean, it could have turned into another Harry Potter flick.

Queen Asuka
1) Do you usually prefer books or movies? And why? Well, I have mixed feelings on the matter. But it is always true that the book is better than the movie. It has more detail and you can use your imagination more. Have any of you ever read the Wizard of Oz? It's WAY more interesting than the movie. Same with Harry Potter, LotR, and anything else you can think of. 2) Which books were better than their movies? And why? The only book that was remotely comparable to its movie that I've seen is Lord of the Rings. They did a really good job making the movie just like the book. It's the ONLY one I've seen. Of course, books that are based FROM their movies are always good. 3) Which movies were better than their books? And why? All of them. Hands down. 4) Which books/movies did you like equally? And why? I don't think there are any. Like I've already said a hundred times, MAYBE LotR. And Star Wars. ^_^
The Merchant
1) Do you usually prefer books or movies? And why? I prefer books, like it has been said so many times alredy they left many things out, and aslo you get to use your imagination, haveing the mental image of a character of place is just great. 2) Which books were better than their movies? And why? Well, many... LOTR, HP, amatyville, i can name so many but this are the ones that pop into my mind rigth now. 3) Which movies were better than their books? And why? Mortal Kombat? other than that i dont think there is. and this is couse MK was a movie before a book. 4) Which books/movies did you like equally? And why? Chambers of the secrets, the book was good and the movie was great. Altough again, the left out many neat things.
bra
1. It depends on the book and the movie. I don't really have time for the both of them but if you get me a good book that gets my attention from the start, then I won't be able to put it down until I finish it. 2. I would have to say that Harry Potter was better as the book than it was in the movie, it left a lot of very important things out. 3. I would definately have to say that Lord of the Rings so far is the best movie. It follows the books PRETTY close and all. 4. I have to say that I liked the Interview With the Vampire. I read that when I was about fifteen and I liked both the book and the movie equally. The author gets into great detail and all that fun stuff... :)
